Communism:
I saw "Robin hood: Men in Tights" last night (at the time of intitially writing this), and it sent my mind to a pipe dream. The end of the pipe spewed out this: I remember the old classic view of Robin hood, specifically the ideology of "steal[ing] from the rich and giv[ing] to the poor." They viewed the rich as tyrannical, evil people. They were generally right. The rich at that  time either cheated, stole, or was part of royality (and taxation would give kings and such a hefty amount of money). The rich should not have had the money, they were immoral and arrogant. But stealing from them? "That is wrong! Oh, wait, you are giving it away to those who do not have money. Okay." This idealogy is wrong. The rich were equally wrong. The situation shouldn't have happened.
Today, we face a similar idealogy. The only difference is that the rich of today are not all evil, most of them worked hard to earn money for themselves. Instead, people are now thinking that the rich are no different from the middle ages. Today's unfortunate solution: Steal from the "rich," give to the "poor." This is no more right than the other. In fact, today it is even worse.
Everyone is selfish and generally stupid, I make that clear in my rant on Mankind. This selfishness emerges when we give in to these socialistic viewpoints. One would think, with this perspective, that wealthy people have an unending amount of money to just give away. First of all, this is not true, but secondly what would one think to do with a seemingly unending bank of wealth? Withdraw from it.
The people that have been too lazy or coincidentially empty pocketed have voted in many instances for more social programs(E.g., social security, medicare, etc.). Why? Because that means that the Well of Finance can tapped instead of working hard. Being lazy is an easier solution than working hard. If one chooses the easier route, he or she will not be able to provide for what he or she needs. Social programs are the "free" alternative to working hard and still getting the needs and wants of life.
Another may argue that we need to help the poor. Das stimmt (true). But whose responsibility is it? The state? The rich? The church? Ahh yes. The church. The church is to provide for those in need. And why the early christian church worked was because they were setting their sights on God, not themselves and worrying if they were going to be provided for. They were relying on God. The Bible tells of the early church being supremely of a commune style lifestyle and everything:
   Acts 2:42-47
[42]They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. [43]Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. [44]All the believers were together and had everything in common. [45]Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. [46]Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, [47]praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Why it does not work in today's society is because we are not focused on God, and the government is controlled by the majority of the people, which happens to be full of pagans. Everyone wants money from the state, oh so grabby. We want it as if it ours. But alas, it is taxed... so we can do nothing. But then if we do nothing to the extreme, we find outselves getting the money, because the government says that the people want to provide for us when we do nothing. Which increases to lacking in motivation to get work. Viscious cycle.
