It has occurred to me that many if not most of you may have questions about Scenario and how to build worlds in it most effectively, especially in the usage of my Sprite Messenger.

This allows me to answer any questions you may have. Both your inquiry and answer will appear below this frame giving at least 24-48 hours for a reply. In this, it answers you and quite possible several others who may have the same challenges to overcome.

I'm trying out some of my earlier links.. Most are dead ! You better grab what you want from here NOW cause it looks like direct RPG95 download sites are getting shut down !

A2: You should know that I've been collecting both images and RPG music/audio for several years now so it might take you a-while to catch up if you plan on getting everything out there.

To answer your initial question. Yes, you can sell your RPG if you like.
I'm gonna feel awfully left out tho if I don't at least get a copy for myself to enjoy since I wrote the fool engine you built it in.

Q4: Hiya, maybe you should get yourself an Alias as well so we have something cool to call you , but here is my questions.

Q5: How many files do we need to download and what is the total size, with all the trimmings?

Q6: I have very little programing experience, and was wanting to find something to help me work on a great idea I have had for an rpg for some time. Can I easily create a world and multiple levels with your builder?

Q7: Can you have different battle engines?

Q8: Don't you love that great new exceded data transfer restriction geocities put on our sites?

Q9: I had another question, but the exceded data thing came up. (you betcha!) Is there a way to manipulate the code and add more characters to fight with?

Well, I used to go by Topaz on BBSs years ago so I could going by that again. (which I have)

A6: I designed to be as easy to use as possible ! You have 16 maps that are each 63x63 tiles to work with so you have multiple "levels" if I understand you correctly.

I have a RPG myself I want to build when it finally reaches v0.1. and it is already over 50 pages length in Wordpad just for the story alone ! Because I am one lazy SOB when I make RPGs, this one's gotta be easy to use for me since my RPG is going to a busy one. Further, I will not sell my world, or protect it. It'll be available in Download for everyone and will be my contribution to teaching good world design and advanced techniques in my Sprite Messenger to everyone else.

A7: , although no extra work needs to be done and you can make complete RPGs in it at this time, does not allow for side-view combat. I have multiple feedback and requests for it so I have put this on my "To Do" list. If you are referring to directly user-modification of the battle engine. Nope. Not at this time. I feel a lot of RPGMakers and GameMakers out there get corrupt too easily by allowing too much modification.

Someone posts a world/game, another plays it, they find the "feel" of the math to be WAY off. They abandon not just the world/game but the system as well. I'm trying to maintain some type of "balance" to the system by allowing changes only to things that will not directly corrupt the "feel" of the math or balance of the challenge and/or complexity to the player of the world/game.

A slight confession.. I actually have several world files I found HEAVENS no where that were made for Dante2 or RPG2E for the SNES emulator. I cannot find anymore and I can't remember where I got them from. I have about 12 in all. Each one of the worlds is written by a different Worldbuilder. ALL of them have different and varied charts and tables they designed for programming them. In my reading multiple notes, I saw that several had the problem of the "1 Hitpoint" damage the player gives a critter from the player at all times. In messages I read years ago, these worldbuilders scoffed and ridiculed others for not being able to make a RPG with a decent table. Their was no template of numbers and balances in RPG2E ever except in their sample all-Japanese world, and that was a small game where they only filled in a TENTH of all the values needed for a full RPG !

I have a unique opportunity here to (and you guys and gals are more then welcome to help me with) making some good rock SOLID tables for pricing, level ups, damage to/from critter, and other complex tables. I want THIS part to be right so you, the Worldbuilder will never have to mess with it or worry about imbalanced table/number definitions.

But, I would like to be one of the programmers out there that has made an easy-to-use RPGMaker; far easier then RPG95 or RPG2000, and with the ability to grow in its design and interest daily.

A8: Really ?? Ahhm.. No, can't say I do like it.. But it's certainly better then a lot of other site providers I've checked. I came across one that used up it's bandwidth and said the site is shutdown for a MONTH ! Geocities is very nice to provide FTP anytime 24-hours even if I have exceeded my bandwidth, a web-page counter, and minimal ad window fuss.

Some other site providers may give more then Geocities but at a terrible cost. Pop up ad windows. What they have in the top-right-hand corner is not too bad and I have to admit I clicked once up there when they mentioned pokemon.

I also had a message forum on EZ-Boards for a-while but that had pop up windows all over the place, and worse, pop-up INSTALL programs. The worst I saw was from Gator which claims to remember all your passwords for your internet accounts when you are online.. I may not be the brightest bulb in the box but it sounds to me like Gator can easily record everyone's passwords for the internet including access to credit card information.

The "pop up" appeared as a Win98 Install Program with a big "OKAY" button on it. I feel -sorry -, for those people that get ripped off this way and other ways the internet is throwing spam in our faces, antagonizing us to purchase their products just to GO AWAY. It's sad the internet has gotten to this stage.. It didn't used to be when it started 3-4 years ago..

I WOULD NOT have a Gator Install window appear in my message forum. What I am doing now is cutting and pasting from Email (after going thru a quick validity check I wrote in GFA to make sure it's legit info), and inserting it direct to Frontpage Express (which by the way is a VERY GOOD webpage maker you already have on your Win95/98 computer).

It may take a bit of work on my part, but to keep pop-up ads out completely, and just the little Geocities top-right-hand corner window insert, that's fine.

is, and always will be Freeware. I just ask one thing. Please post your world so others can learn from them. Not just for others but I dearly LOVE playing RPGs and there is a very special sense of self-satisfaction playing a RPG that you designed the engine for. It makes it easier to visualize what is next needed in the system as well. I will not sell and I certainly won't sell anyone's creations in here. You, however, are more then welcome to sell any worlds you build with on your own. It's a little harder to sell your creation in RPG95 or RPG2000 since it is -huuum..- is illegal software.

I do have plans for
Acolyte, a rather busy RPG of my own with multiple chapters. I will also not sell or protect my work in any way and post them direct for all to see; my contribution to teach others world design and advanced Sprite Messenger usage.

Just give me a chance and others to play in some of your worlds though.

My greatest expectation of this program and of you, the Worldbuilders are to share and enjoy all the creations everyone makes wherever they are from. No creativity will lie trapped, no dream imprisoned, but Free for others to explore and delight in !

A9: will probably not see "Companions" until after v0.1.. I modeled the combat after Dragon Warrior and "Great Greed" an Excellent Gameboy game with a very stupid name. But the GB cart did show me that combat can be an easy thing, and still challenging. Also look to the original QBasic MiniRPG by JAWS-V Soft, QBasic Cylur by Ted Coffman, and to Quest written by Johnny Ingersoll. Both Ted & Johnny did an outstanding job of making very nice RPGs in minimal amount of fuss keeping tabs on player stats and combat abilities.

Companions will not really appear in combat, be more Helpers then anything else and based upon their whim will heal or help out the player in combat. (You'll need to try out that GB cart above to see how they did it).

I'm pushing the envelope pretty hard in GFABasic right now (the language I wrote
in), and adding a whole entire set of player attributes like Strength, Hits, and Experience, especially allowing for up to 4 or more of these, may be a bit tasking not just for me, but for GFA. GFABasic is not C++ , it doesn't have that complexity, and it does have some horrible limitations. I will push Scenario's growth and development though as far as I can in it.

I do have plans later for Worldbuilders to dedicate a single Sprite Messenger Page from your 99 pages per cel per map to a BOSS Definition. Bosses are quite different, are EXPECTING to use Import BMPs but can use default, always get first attack, can use attack spells the same as you, and heal their own hits when they are severely injured. Special FX I GOTTA have for BOSSES defeat which is missing TERRIBLY in all the RPGMakers I have seen.. I like the way FF3 for the SNES platform did defeat of a boss and I'll do something similar. That one Messenger Page will in the future hold more attributes then just a single 5-line entry with optional single Icon Commands, but other complex data specific to a vital need like a Boss combat or specialized Merchant.
