![]() ![]() Q271: Is there a way I can get Scenario to burn to a disk? I have been getting a "GFA-BASIC Runtime Error -002" message |
![]() ![]() A271: Hi Pyra47: Do you mean a CD ? Well, it should but remember that ![]() ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q272: is there a way to set your own tiles? |
![]() ![]() A272: Hi Jinx: Yes, to pick new tiles, hit the ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() To import tiles, just go here: http://members.dfwonline.net/dw817/add-tile.htm From there, follow the directions. Hit ![]() ![]() If you want to replace the image of a tile completely, save it in \REALM\ with the filename of TILE00 to TILE69. Ensure it is BITMAP format picture. You may not need to go through all of this with MicroKey© in place now. Hit ![]() ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q273: (a) Hey I got another "?" Why do most of the scenrio resources (i.e. portraits, sprites, backdrops) come from RM2K/3 (yes i regret to admit haveing fooled around with illegal softwear) (b) Hey got a ? Where do you get all the anime pics for your site? and could you post a link for me? (c) Do you have a .mdx converter? (I want some of the sound files on a cd) |
![]() ![]() A273: Hi Jake: (a) Well for one reason they were readily available and when I zoomed up the Sprites from 32x32 to double-size they looked great so I just had to write a program to work with them, especially since AgeTec (ASCII?) wrote such a hard-to-use system. No, my mapping system is based upon one of their earlier SNES RPGMaker works (but not the helper grids, that's my idea) but that's about it. They've always had the Flag # 000 - 255 business to handle stuff. Really nasty, computers have more diversity and complexity in managing data than this and I had to prove it to myself that a self-maintaining keep-tabs-on-all-the-changes in a world could be done, and invisibly to the user. Some immediate examples, open treasure chests and unlocked doors. These are handled internally with no flag # 0-255 mess for the Worldbuilder or player to deal with. I'm not such a good artist for drawing big pictures and the images were there for the rippping. Some of the earliest Add-On critters are direct rips from their SNES RPGMaker cart. After that, I started ripping elsewhere. ![]() (b)
I'm a very serious
collector of fine Anime & Hentai and I sort through
over 500 pictures a day with Irfanview. I get my pics
from random newsgroups. You gotta download a ton of
pictures and then sort through them. 90% aren't worth
keeping, 5% are screwed up with ads all over it. 4% are
badly rendered and look really bad even though the
content is nice. The remaining 1% ... ? (C)
As a matter of
fact I do. You can download my .MDX convertor by clicking |
![]() ![]() (C:) Hey Topaz! It's me, I've only talked to you in e-mail so far, maybe this way will be a little quicker! If you're wondering who, it's Gary. If you even remember the name, Haha... Anyways, All the persona's are used! If it's okay with you.... Could I possibly have my own? Mwaha! -Gary |
![]() ![]() (C:) Hi Gary: No you may not have a custom persona. Sheesh ! It's hard enough for me to clip this stuff from Email to Notepad and then to Frontpage Express. ![]() Seriously, if you want a custom Persona I could make you one or you could submit one, but there's no guarantee I'll remember to use it every time unless you type out like the name in the Persona Number area. ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q274: Alright, a few Q's to throw at ya... (a) How can I create a custom strong move? I know you can only do this in Boss combat, but I'd like my hero to know at least 1 super move to dish out... it could be double the damage of his strong hit that's already programmed in, dig it? Just wondering if this was possible. (b) I'd also like to know how to create three enemies to pounce on the hero, but only two fight, while the third keeps healing/assisting the other two. In order to destroy the third enemy, you need to smack down the first two, which carries over to a new sort of boss combat so that you'd really need to stick up your arms. Just wondering if this was possible aslo... (c) How can I create a custom ultimate weapon? I know the hero can level up and all, but this weapon can give strange stats, which in turn may favor a particular statsistic, such as a higher strength level than normal, or more luck... instead of earning it from a million random encounters. AND... if the ultimate weapon was taken away, the stats return to normal on any level the person is on, say, 34, and the weapon made the person feel and act as if they were 55. dig it? (d) Merging of weapons to make a stronger one... I don't remember if I saw this question in the Q&A somewhere... <squints> but if you've already answered it, let me know. This kinda falls under the ultimate weapon thing, but you need to assemble the parts. (e) Other than higher levels of swords and armor, can you also make custom magic as well? I'm starting to run out of alternates for water/fire/lightning combo... and couldn't think of any flags to get around this... what do you have to say? (f) I know, I know, this is a million questions at once, but I hardly have time to sit in front of the puter to get them down (in my notebook, yea). So, this is the last one for the day <whew!>: How do I create a mask for the Hero? He transforms into another being, but after saving, the mask turns off, and the hero is back to square one. Whatever flags I had no longer work, since they respond to the mask (yea, I've written around this... cool, eh?) I think that's about it. Oh, one more thing... (g) how can I change the name of the character in game without prompting the user? The hero gets into a bit of a scuffle, and needs to lay low for a while. How do you write around this? (since I've exhausted all means! Your code is more complex to crack!) (C:) Really love this thing! Just hope I don't have to upgrade to XP anytime soon... <sobs> |
![]() ![]() A274: Hi Spinner: (and when they lay me in the ground my tired body having exhausted itself from too much programming and typing and mini pizzas those attending my wake will say BOY he sure liked RPGs didn't he!) ![]() (Hehehe..) Just grinning at myself. Lor' I didn't think I'd get this pulled into my own little thinker toy. Okay, let's take a crack at these ! ![]() (a) Not possible in current ![]() (b) Actually you hit on an important point. In combat, if two are alike and there are 3, the odd one out needs to be in the center. If 3 attack you like this, future ![]() ![]() (c) That will be the *ITEMS* once again. There will be a special symbol to auto-run the adjustments of the player's attributes before the item is "used" in it for future ![]() (d, e) *ITEMS* issue. (f) The player's mask vanishes in a saved game ?? I certainly hope not ! <<checking>> The mask transfers in a saved game. Make sure you using the following notation: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It is kept in saved games. To return back to your default player mask, use: ![]() ![]() ![]() (g) This hasn't been done yet. (Penning in my to-do list). (C:) I hope not either ! Mind you I am limited to WinXP so it will always get priority for compatibility now. I did go over to Dad's today and find that my ![]() (Huum .. Dad has a Windows 3.1 computer .. Thinking .. I'll doodle with it sometime on that, put ![]() I'll do this next week so I can see why Win3.1 won't run it) ![]() |
![]() Q275: My charactor is able to *walk through* everything, tables, chairs . trees, through walls etc. For some reason I cant seem to get it to walk around a solid object . can someone please help me ? |
![]() ![]() A275: Greets ?: In the future, please pick a Persona and Alias. To answer your question, I'm not really sure.. It sounds like an old glitch from a year ago. Ensure you are using the latest version of ![]() ![]() In the future, know that SETUP.EXE will always be the name for the latest version. In this, it includes an auto-installer. You should create the directory you want to install it in first before running the installer as it does not have the ability of adding a folder first, yet. ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q276: (C:) Hi, Topaz. I'm S.Avon's sis, so...[wave!] (I got a lot to say, so grab a chair and an orange soda...I like orange soda...) I got Dos 6.22/Windows 3.1 on my 486, but finding a scenario that works is (gag) hard! I already downloaded versions 0.095a5 amd 0.095b3. Those didn't work. I d/l'ed sc94b2. Didn't work. Also scen92cp...nope, that didn't work! [sobs] I know my sis is complaing about it (see q:178/182), but it seems to not have worked. (She probably has to complain louder...) I surfed the web and found on google scenario v0.1! Whoo! About time, I surfed before and couldn't find any old versions. I guess I got lucky :) (a) Do you have any older but working versions of scenario before you started adding support to Windows 98? I only want to make 2 worlds featuring the band I'm currently obssessed about, Journey! (don't snicker). (b) Do you even have a copy of the original scenario? Just curious. I still have old copies of programs when I first started to tinker in QBasic (1998!) (C:) I'm envious! You actally made scenario, not a game, but an engine(!!) in QB45!!! Aargh....!!!! ...I finally wrote a word processor (okay, line editor) that has been in the works for 3 years. I finally got it to load, save, and print (but printing is a nightmare). Aargh... ...Okay, now I need another soda. I never did so much talking in one sitting. Whoo...! |
![]() ![]() A276: Greets MagicKat: (C:) Orange Soda ? Make Mine a NEHI in a frosted glass with lots of ice ! ![]() Regarding compatibility. Well, I guess I need to sit down sometime and try to find the problem it's having with Windows 3.1. And ![]() It's also incomplete. (a/b) No, I don't have any earlier versions. I can tell you I was dabbling on ![]() I thought it was pretty clever, and gave me the resources I needed to at least attempt ![]() (C:) Don't be envious. It was a lot of work and even though I got far in it. It was at a terrible cost of raw programming requiring me to turn hundreds of my routines into QBasic Library files for the sole purpose of gaining more memory. I hope this new DarkBasic that is due to arrive will have unlimited resources as it appears to. If you are using QBasic. Use the command: LPRINT the same way you would use PRINT in BASIC. You can top me off on that Orange Soda too ! ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q277: "Are the major changes in the future game engine affect other world ? I mean does it still playable?" |
![]() ![]() A277: Hi Dorothy: It's pretty safe to say that all additions to ![]() ![]() ![]() (1) The Tiles will be 16x16 in size. (2) The Sprites will be 24x32 in size. (3) All of the combat critters will be facing to the right for side-view combat only. (4) None of the maps will scroll, they will be like Legend Of Zelda where walking off the edge scrolls to the new field, and 3x3x9 fields to work with yielding 81 fields or rooms. This range may get considerably higher based upon the memory DarkBasic will yield. This design would simplify Worldbuilding tremendously, speed-up the main engine by at least 10x and allow for random encounter placement. If DarkBasic turns out to be very quick, I may allow for scrolling maps again. But I did receive quite a bit of Email that scrolling the map was too slow for a lot of people. ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q277: (a) I makin a game (well obviously) and i want to make my own items how can i do this?? please enlighten me! (b) Also a freind of mine is saying he can customise the mian players attacks is this true? and if so how!?.. (c) Can i have this Protrait (39) for my game please!! (C:) oh and thanks for Rpg maker . I have always wanted to make game. You Rock!! |
![]() ![]() A277: Greets DRAGON BOY: (a) There are no true "items" in the game yet. You can have a flag appear in the player's inventory by placing a ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Which will make the item TOKEN appear in the player's inventory. Future ![]() (b) You cannot customize the player attacks. I have already doodled six images for custom attacks including the pistol so these will appear in future ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (C:) Glad you like it ! If my sleep wasn't so disturbed by my new neighbors deliberately thumping on the walls till 3am I'd get more work done in the day. Yes, I'm moving for this very reason. ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q278: (a) Are the major changes in the future game engine affect other world ? I mean does it still playable?" (b) "Can you write new codes (or programed ) so that from one sprite can connect directly to other sprite on the same map ? I mean like a movie director from one 'event' to the next It's connected direct and there and we can address sprite by it's name so that we could say it in the sprite messenger [sprite name] move up, so from one sprite in can be connected to other sprite and executes orders from within that recently activated sprite and then move on to another sprite to execute it's own commands within the sprite so that it could perform another? If you could do this I'm sure that would surely make it easy on everybody however (umm if my request means that you could lost some sleep and probably ill due to lack of sleep you could forget about my request cause you're health are no 1..) (C:) Mr Topaz sir , I just wanted to say that you are a very generous and genius I mean you created the scenario engine and you share it with others.. I have been trying to make RPG games for years (5 years to be exact) until I stumble upon your scenario engine.. and all your hardwork tinkering with program on for the benefit of others Is a very nice thing to do and is very appreciated. |
![]() ![]() A278: Hi Dorothy: (a) I will try and do my best to ensure that they don't, but if you do see a prior feature that was working and is now not due to my "upgrades" you should let me know so I can repair it early. ![]() As mentioned, it is highy unlikely that any ![]() ![]() (1) Tiles will be 16x16 pixels in scale. (2) Sprites will be 24x32 pixels in scale. (3) Critters will face to the RIGHT and be 64x64 pixels in scale. The map will not scroll unless the player walks out of the "room" into the next "room" and then it does by scrolling the entire room to the next room like Legend Of Zelda for the NES. This allows the Worldbuilder greater ease of building single maps instead of an entirely large one and facilitates my needs for developing true random encounter combats. (b) Yes, this is already available. If when you exit from running a Sprite Message and there is another different than the one the player started on, then that Sprite Message will be run immediately without waiting for any confirmation. This is a way to "link" Sprite Messages together. . . . My health is fine, thanks. I just wish the new neighbors would stop thumping the walls at all hours. Drives one a little crazy after a-while. ![]() (C:) Hey, glad you noticed ! ![]() Enjoy the system. ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q279: How do you get a NPC to folloe the hero?? |
![]() ![]() A279: Greets SHORTY: Your answer is ![]() Please take the time to read all of the Q & A. Most of the difficult questions are already answered. ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() Q280: question: Yea, buddy, it's me again! More Q's for you to chew on and digest! So... here goes... (a) I bungled #F for Q74... (typing to fast to get the stuff from mind to screen!)this is what I meant: The hero transforms into another form in battle. How do I mask them to do this? After battle, they are their normal self. The transfomation is when they've been cursed along the way... with neg. stats... (still tinkering on this idea) Anyway, is this possible? (b) Wonder if you're able to write in a Rage meter? I want my hero to go kamikaze on the enemy, but only after they've been whacked on a few thousand times (see FF7). Even if this Rage Meter is possible to write in, will it be in for any type of encounter or just for boss battles? (I'm looking at boss battles here... anyone can whack some idiot who jumps from the shadows) (c) When will the pistol and bullets be implemented? I'm currently writing a new game where my hero uses both swords and guns. It's a bit empty without the gun part, since I lies heavily in this. It's on the back burner until you write it. (so i'm asking, when will you write it???) So far, the sword thing is ok. Can't get enough! :D And last but not least, my final q! (Thought i had a zillion more in my pocket, eh?) (d) Is there some way to add negative effects to the hero? (other than depleting health, strength, magic and luck?) What about poision? Cold? electric shock? Acid maybe? I'm writing a dungoen that has some nasty little traps up, and the hero gets posioned, but after so many steps (say 5..?), they don't feel that great, and must get something to restore their health. (wonder what happened to some antivenom..?) Just etching this out here as well. That's all, you brainy programmer you! (e) Oh, before I forget... whatever happened to that nifty Kalidescope feature you had from V.01? Did you drop it because it was an energy cruncher? I thought it was fantastically spiffy! :D Util I clean out my lint-lined pockets! Zoom! |
![]() ![]() A280: Hi Spinner: Phew ! You're certainly full of it. Ahhm -- questions I mean. ![]() Let's see what ya got ! (a) Huum .. I don't think this is going to work well for current ![]() You can change the mask of the player prior to entering and deplete their Experience points by say 1000 or so to give them a "negative" effect. It's up to you to remove the "mask" once done though. (b) Phew ! Don't count on it ! I've got too much on my table already. After I finish up all of the image editing modes I need to rewrite TOTO the combat module. That in itself is going to take quite a bit of time. (c) I already doodled the FX for the pistol. This will be "down the road" though, probably after I get the world compiler working. It will use an entirely different formula based on the player's experience and zero of their strength. (d) Other than what I mentioned above, there is no freeze, poison, weaken, etc. It's up to you the Worldbuilder to emulate these effects. Once I get the custom items working correctly, I'll start branching out for player statuses as these items will be used to heal them. (e) Neat ! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
