Godai-kun in panic.
Ikkoku-kan's kitten tale

After final exams, Godai takes care of Sakamoto's pet cat "Kyoko" for a week.

Godai and Sakamoto are out on a drinking binge. Sakamoto is determined to get Godai completely drunk and refills his glass all the time. The following morning, with the victims of the party still strewn about the floor in Sakamoto's apartment, he presents Godai with a little white kitten, which he has named Kyoko.
Godai wonders about this, but it turns out that the name was his idea the previous night's proceedings. Godai still akes the kitten home although is worried about the problem with pets at Ikkoku-kan. And cause many misunderstandings then.

Episode 22
Shocked Godai-kun.
Kyoko-san's resignation
The episode opens with Godai at the local laundromat. On his way home, he passes a man who then appears to be following him. As he yells out to him, the man makes a run for it. Kyoko is left somewhat speechless, as she has recognised the man. It's her father. Godai is very surprised by this, and she explains that her parents aren't very happy about her being a "janitor".
Godai - He looks like a child molester or a panty thief.
Kyoko - Err... he's my father. Really?
Godai - Like I said, he's a good-looking fellow. He's got the quiet looks of middle age.

Meanwhile back in Ikkoku-kan, Ichinose and Godai yell out a warning just as the whole section of the balcony gives way and crumbles to the ground. As the dust clears, Godai was hugging Kyoko right on the edge.
Godai - I'm going to ask kanrinin-san to fix the hole.
Yotsuya stands atop the stairs, arms and legs spread in a warding gesture.
Yotsuya - Godai-kun! That hole is for interchange between you and me!
Godai - I can do without that!
Ichinose - (to the workers, who are watching the show) Hey you, this isn't a comedy club, you know?
Worker - This is better than a comedy club.
Yotsuya - (clears throat) Last night, I hear Godai-kun's voice.
Oh, what could he be saying? "Kyoko-saaan", then heavy breathing, "haah haah haah haah". I look in from the hole,...
Godai - GYAAAAAAAAAHHH!
Yotsuya: ...and I couldn't see anything because it was too dark.
Yotsuya threatens to tell Kyoko, and Godai says "Go ahead". As Yotsuya shouts(X), a jet passes overhead *mostly* drowning his words out.
Godai - (smirking) Kanrinin-san won't hear that way out in the front yard.
Ichinose - (looking downstairs) No, but she can probably hear it from the bottom of the stairs.
Kyoko was out of the house for a shopping trip and then came her mother. She thanks them all for their patience in putting up with Kyoko and for looking after her, but it will not be necessary any more, since she is resigning as manager! The gang is stunned by this. As the sun sets, we see Souichiro barking up a storm, clearly not happy about this development either.

Episode 23
Kyoko-san in jeopardy. Mother's plot
2 yrs : 3 months
Kyoko's mother falsely announces Kyoko's will quit Ikkoku-kan's manager position and removes all Kyoko's belongings from Ikkoku-kan to force Kyoko to quit. She fails. Kyoko's father visits Ikkoku-kan. At the same time, Kyoko's mother's attempt to trick Ms. Ichinose fails.

Godai and the others receive the devastating news that Kyoko has resigned from her job. When Kyoko arrives at Ikkoku-kan, she is startled to find that her room is empty; except for the presence of Yotsuya. He tells her that her mother was here... Kyoko leaves in fury.
At ChaCha Maru, Godai and Ichinose drown their sorrows. Both are distraught over losing Kyoko. Akemi seems not to be so worried. Yotsuya arrives, bringing with him a parting gift from Kyoko, so it would seem. Later that night, they are sitting in Kyoko's empty room, when she herself arrives. Much to their relief, she tells them that it was all just a trick of her mother.
That's not the end of it though. Ritsuko tries yet again to make Kyoko leave Ikkoku-kan. She preys upon Ichinose's gullibility, saying that Kyoko's dad is very ill and needs his daughter to be with him.

Episode 24
Godai-kun in a flurry.
First kiss with Kozue?!
2 yrs : 4 months
Godai was "invited" to Kozue's house to meet her parents. After dinner, Godai became tempted to kiss Kozue while being alone together in her room. Just as he was about to kiss her, Kozue's father comes in with a shotgun.

On her way home from prayer at Souichiro's tomb, Kyoko argues with her parents.
Kyoko:
Souichiro-san... I'm sorry I don't visit you that often.
You must get lonely. Please don't worry about me. I'm doing well at Ikkoku-kan.
Ritsuko:
But time passes so swiftly.
It's already been two years since Souichiro-san passed away.
Mr Otonashi:
Yes.
Ritsuko:
It's been two years, hasn't it?
Mr Otonashi:
It has been two years.
Ritsuko:
You probably can't forget about Souichiro-san, can you?
Mr Otonashi:
No. I'm not that obsessed, rather Kyoko-san might be more...
But things can't go on like this.
Kyoko:
Father... Godai visits Nanao family.

Episode 25
Crash! Godai vs. Mitaka proposal battle
2 yrs : 5 months
Competition at tennis club
(Godai and Kyoko vs. Mitaka and Ichinose)
Kyoko refuses to be Mitaka's "professional" partner. (Refused Mitaka's proposal for marrage)

At the tennis club, Godai stands outside the fence looking in, until he happens to get invited to play a game of doubles with Kyoko. Ichinose gets paired with Mitaka to even out the teams. However, the game is disrupted when in the middle of an exchange at the net, Mitaka proposes to Kyoko. She seemingly misinterprets the question and manages to avoid saying what he hoped. Not one to give up, the next day Mitaka takes Kyoko for a drive to the beach.
Meanwhile, Godai admires the food at a store display. As luck would have it, Kozue is nearby, and notices him there. She invites him over for dinner. There, he gets more acquainted with her family, and he unfortunately leaves the impression that he may be more serious about Kozue than he really is...

Kentaro lost Souichiro (the dog) to the scent of yakitori. As days went by without Souichiro, Kyoko began to recall the memories she had with the dog and the real Souichrio.
After days of searching, Godai found and returned Souichiro to Kyoko. Against the shadows of a sunset, Kyouko mistook Godai for her beloved husband becaus that moment resembled exactly the scene from which she first saw her husband walking home with the dog. Soui... Godai-san?

Kyoko surprised. I'm Kentaro's father

Kyoko and the tenants met Kentaro's father for the first time. Kentaro wanted his
parents to particpate in the upcoming school sporting event, however because they were either always busy or drunk, we requested Godai and Kyoko to take their place. However just as the event was about to begin, Godai sprained his ankle.
