sister of tohru, aunt of kamui, tokiko was also one the magami, actually, she was the last
of the clan. she is first introduced to us as the school nurse at kamui's, kotori's and
fuuma's school. yet it is only later in the third book that she is kamui's aunt.

explaining to her nephew that tohru left the household when she had just finished school,
kamui realized that his mother had never explained much to him. he never knew he had
an aunt, that they were part of the magami clan (which as the group that became
sacrificial dolls of the nobilty), and he had no clue about his father.

tohru was only in junior high when her sister left, telling tokiko that she (tohru) was to
give birth to the one who had the power to change destiny. so she knew about the
final battle that would either preserve or change the earth, and perhaps she knew her
own end.

tokiko: my final moments are at hand.
kamui: what do you...
tokiko: kamui...listen me. the sacred sword was destined to be taken. the first sacred
sword was destined to be taken without fail.
kamui: the first...?
tokiko: "the sacred sword will be born from this togakushi shrine from a woman's body"
kamui: from a...?
tokiko: six years ago, a sacred sword was born here, at the togakushi shrine, prophecy
was fulfulled, the sword was protected. but then the priest died.
kamui: six years?
fuuma: # six years...from a woman's body. it...coulddn't be...#
tokiko: six years ago, it was my sister who was to die here. as the heir to the magami
clan...for the earth's final battle. tohru was supposed to die giving birth to the sacred
sword... that was the prophecy. but the one who died was...
fuuma: mother
tokiko: my sister's best friend, saya.

kamui: monou-sama was killed. but why?
tokiko: you were still so young. you couldn't survive by yourself. but, the first sacred
sword could be born on that day and that day only. it was up to saya...she gave birth to
the sacred sword instead of my sister.
kamui: gave birth...? how?
tokiko: i cannot explain. i can only show you. kamui... the first sacred sword was born
six years ago. today... today the last sacred sword... the second sacred sword will be
born.
kamui: the last sacred sword? the second...? tokiko!
tokiko: still...so many things...i want to tell you...still so many things i have to...tell you...
kamui...when i got away, i pushed myself too much. i fell...faint...
kamui: tokiko! tokiko!
tokiko: the destiny of japan...no, the destiny of the earth... is in... your hands...
kamui: tokiko! stop it!
tokiko: kamui, think carefully about why two sacred swords exsist. think! why was one of
them taken away...? seven dragons of heaven...seven stars in the sky. kamui, ursa
major has one star that always goes along with another...a twin star...
kamui: sto...stop it! no!

and then her body bursts, and reveals the second sacred sword. it is she who reveals
to kamui about the truth of two 'kamui-s', and the reason for two swords. also, she is the
one who tells him that it is only he who can choose to either preserve or change the
earth. it is kamui's choice

the tarot card that tokiko represents is the tower, which she shares with her sister, tohru.
both these women were to give birth to the sacred swords in the togakushi shrine, and
lead kamui to his destiny. both part of the magami clan, they are the ones that protect
both people and the earth.
