[+] nataku [+]
Nataku, body of an adult, mind of a child.
Nataku is a clone. A life-form
created out of an
artificial womb and DNA manipulation. It was also the 'granddaughter' of the
founder
and creator of Toujou Pharmaceuticals, and it's real name was Kazuki.
However, Kazuki died of sickness
when she was very young. And her father, who was
the head of the Development Division in Toujou Pharmaceutical, decided to revive
her
as a clone, using the cloning technology that he had been researching for a long
time.
However, Kazuki's body was consumed by sickness and could not be entirely
restored.
Her father then took his own life to revive Kazuki, so that his body parts could
be used
on Kazuki's missing parts.
And then Nataku was completed using
Kazuki's artificially matured womb and her father's
tissues. Half of the tissues forming Nataku's bone structure came from her
father, and
that is the reason Nataku looks like a male. But if fact, it is sexless, and
without
emotions.
Nevertheless, during the series, we
do see some emotions escaping this clone. This
is because the feelings of Kazuki had had filtered through to Nataku, so it
loves both
its mother and father.

mother:
Oh my. No, Kazuki. Don't run.
kazuki: Daddy's not back yet?
mother: Father is helping Grandfather with his work.. But it's because he loves you,
Kazuki.
kazuki: Me?
mother :Yes, so you will be better soon. Father is researching lots of medicines at the
office.
kazuki: When Daddy's medicine is all done, will I be able to run around and
sing!?
grandfather (PRESIDENT in the main section):
Now now. Although it's late afternoon, it gets cold out. Go inside.
kazuki: Grandpa! Welcome home, Daddy.
father: I'm home, my cute Kazuki.
grandfather: To think this child is involved in the future of the Earth...
mother: That has nothing to do with us. Kazuki is our only daughter. She is
dear to us.
grandfather: .... I guess so.
kazuki: Daddy, I love you.I'm gonna be your bride!
father: [Ha ha] I wonder at what age you will stop saying that.
kazuki: I will! I will too be your bride, Daddy. I love you!!
later, when Kazuki is dying in hospital:
<beep beep beep>
kazuki: %Mommy.....
mother: Kazuki! Kazuki!!
kazuki: %Grandpa....%It hurts.....%I can't breathe....% It hurts.......%Daddy.......
mother (? speaker uncertain) Kazuki----!
father: Kazuki.... I won't let you pass away like this. I swear... I will wake you up again....
Kazuki.
<beeeeep>
kazuki: %...... Daddy.....
<beep beep>
And even though Hinoto told the family that Kazuki was to be involved with the
End of
the World, and was to be on the Dragons of the Earth, the father still went
ahead with the
cloning process because of his love for his daughter.
At the point in time when the
series starts, Nataku is just being revived by it's
grandfather in the underground lab. The grandfather renames Kazuki as Nataku,
for
Nataku was the god who had no soul, which ties in quite perfectly with this
Nataku.
It is Nataku who downs the first
victim in the series, Kyougo. The father of Fuuma and
Kotori protected the Sacred Sword until the very end, and was no match for
Nataku.
Taking the Sword back into the laboratory at the Sunshine Building, it waited
for Fuuma to
awaken into Kamui, so that it could present it to the Kamui of the Earth.
When Nataku joined the Dragons of
the Earth, it became clear that Nataku obeyed
Fuuma to the last word, and was probably the most successful is destroying the
kekkai's
in Tokyo. It had no morals or scruples about destroying the world, for it had no
emotions.
But that was until it met Karen.
Karen was perplexed by Nataku. She
couldn't understand why a being could have no
emotions. She didn't hate Nataku for it; instead she felt for it, especially
when she looked
into its eyes once and saw that Nataku resembled a lost child. And because
Karen
herself had an abusive childhood, she immediately felt for Nataku.
It is in book 18 when we see the
last of Nataku. Nataku and Karen are in another fight,
but Nataku begins to feel emotions while talking to the Seal. But their chat is
interrupted
by Fuuma, who wishes to destroy the kekkai at Ginza. And because Nataku's
original
wish is to obey Fuuma's wish, Nataku experiences conflicting emotions for it
doesn't
want to destroy the kekkai, because Karen's kekkai is protecting the kekkai of
Ginza.
At this point in time, Karen tells
a shocked Nataku that it has a heart, and calls it Kazuki.
Because of that statement, Nataku makes a decision and has another wish.
And its wish
is granted by Fuuma. Fuuma rams his hand through Nataku's body. With its last
breath, it
thanks Karen and kisses her gently. And then it dies.
It's wish was to protect one's most
important person, and to die by the hands of the
person it likes most. Nataku's most important person was its mother and the
person it
likes the most was its father. And because it saw Karen as its mother and Fuuma
as its
father, it died by the hand of Fuuma while protecting Karen.
In the end, the emotionless clone
understood what feelings were for the first time, but
died before it could experience more. Nataku is the second of the fourteen who
have
passed away, and also the second of the Angels.
