[+] kotori monou [+]
sister of fuuma, lover of kamui, kotori monou
was the inescapable victim of fate and
destiny. she, like no one else, had only one fate, and that fate
was to die. she who
kamui with all of her heart, who wanted to be with him no matter
what, saw her fate and
perhaps became mad from that.
kotori was a gentle and kind hearted girl,
and also had an extremely weak heart.
nevertheless, she always had a more optimistic outlook to life,
even though her mother
died when she was young, and her closest childhood friend left.
she inherited some of
the powers that her mother had, and was even stronger then saya
with her foretelling the
future and also her ability to understand animals and plants. and
it was also she who
at first predicted the coming of kamui and also the fact that
there were not only one, but
two 'kamuis'.
her name, meaning 'a sweet little bird',
matches her completely for she is as fragile and
as delicate as one. she also hates to see others hurt, and so she
tries to keep the
people around her and herself out of trouble. she especially
hates it when kamui worries
about her.
[+] an extract from X5 [+]
kotori: my
hat!...i-i can't reach it.
kamui: hang
on! i'll climb up.
kotori: no! it's such a big
tree- it's dangerous.
kamui: but it was your
favourite hat.
kotori: it's ok. i'm sad that
i lost it, but if you got hurt i's be a hundred times more sad!
even a thousand!
kamui: ...kotori...
kotori: let'sgo, fuuma's
waiting.
[next morning]
kotori: wha- that sound? my
hat! but i thought i lost it yesterday...could kamui have?
[later]
kamui: yes? kotori...
kotori: i found this. d...did
you...get this hat for me?
kamui: [who is now covered in
scratches] no.
kotori: you...you went up that
tree! yesterday, all for me.
kamui: kotori!
kotori: i'm sorry kamui. i'm
sorry...
that was from when the two were children. as
you can see, kotori hated it when kamui put
himself in danger for her, and she felt extremely guilty for
causing him to hurt himself.
nevertheless, she can not stop kamui from
doing the things he does. it is because of
her that kamui chooses which side he will fight for. it is not
until book eight that kamui
decides that he wants to fight for the dragons of the heavens. he
doesn't care about the
earth itself, and he doesn't believe in the ideals that the
others have, he only wants to
"protect the place where you [fuuma] and kotori can live
happily".
this idealistic decision is what leads to the
tragic end of kotori. she, who is currently
helpless, is strapped onto a cross by fuuma. he then gives a
malicious smile, brings
down the second holy sword, and stabs it into kotori's heart
while kamui who is pinned
to the wall painfully watches his love die. her last words are
'onii-chan' [elder brother].
kotori's tarot card is the lovers card she is
the lover of kamui, delicate and angelic. they
had promised themselves to each other when they were young, but
still the feelings
between them did not die when they were growing up. however, now
she is dead,
ripped out of kamui's arms and brutally killed by fuuma.
through kotori's legacy, kamui is fighting
for the seven seals, even though the reason
has changed. still, he is keeping his childhood dream alive in
protecting his closest
friend. his wish is to get fuuma back, and even though he sees it
as near impossible,
he will always fight for him.
