[+] seishirou sakurazuka [+]

assassin of the sakura burrow, dragon of the earth, first of the fourteen to die, seishirou
was one of the most mysterious characters of X. that is, until he died because much
more was revealed after his death, especially in his side story. he was as cold as ice,
and cared for nothing. his past was more shrouded then the rest of the characters, and
his motives were unknown. he was the guardien of the sakura burrow, the assassin with
no remorse. killing was just as easy as breaking a glass was to him, and so when it
came to people's feeling, of course this dark assassin toyed with them. nevertheless,
much of what i had just said can be taken back, because as he died, he revealed much
to his own killer, subaru sumeragi.

subaru and seishirou have been linked together since their debut in their own manga,
Tokyo Babylon. this story was based more on their complex relationship, and another
character in this manga was subaru's sister, hokuto, who also has some importance in X.

both seishirou and subaru are omniyoujis, and specialize in their own powers. they are
the most powerful in japan, and their power is so equal that it is said that they are like
opposite sides of a coin.

their first meeting with each other many years before ended with a strange bet: when
seishirou and subaru would meet again in the future, they would live with each other
for a year. if seishirou develops feelings for the younger boy, he would spare his life.
however, if he feels nothing, subaru would die.

so, both seishirou, subaru and hokuto lived together for a year. many things happened
in that time, especially with the development of subaru's power. also, in that year,
seishirou played up to subaru, trying to make the boy feel something for him,
even though he felt nothing in return. and when the time was nearly over, a crazy
woman tried to kill subaru, but seishirou saved him, but was wounded in the eye as a
result. it was there in the hospital, waiting for the operation to be over, when subaru
realized that he did in fact love seishirou. he felt devistated that seishirou had gone
through all the pain of losing an eye because of him.

nevertheless, when the year is up, seishirou does not feel anything for the younger boy.
so, he tries to kill him. his plan is stopped because subaru's grandmother, another
omniyouji, uses her power to save the boy, but subaru goes through a deep depression.

and it is ten years later when their story is picked up again in X, with subaru thirsting for
revenge on seishirou, the one who killed his twin sister hokuto. with a few battles
between each other, neither ended up as the victor in these fights. as the story develops,
we find out that things are not as simple as they seem, especially with fuuma's ability
to see everyone's wish.

subaru, who we all thought wanted to kill seishirou, had in fact, two totally contradicting
wishes. one, was to feel the pain that seishirou felt when he was stabbed in the eye by
thecrazy women (and fuuma did grant that wish for him), and the other is to be killed by
seishirou himself. it did not matter that seishirou didn't care about him. what mattered was
that it was he [seishirou] that would kill him. subaru was the first of the assassin's prey
who had escaped, and since seishirou was the most important person to subaru, he
wanted to be killed by him.

however, it was to everyone's surprise that it was seishirou who was killed by subaru.

subaru: ...wh...y?
seishirou: your sister wished that... when the time came that i tried to kill you in the same
way i killed her...it would turn on me instead...
seishirou: the two of us...are like mirror images of those figures in the past, aren't we?
that day, the one with her heart pierced like this was hokuto-chan...
subaru: when you, tried to kill hokuto-chan, when you vanished from before my eyes, i
intended to kill you.
subaru: i tried to erase your presence from inside me, from inside my heart, and live on
...but i couldn't.
subaru: even if you though of me as nothing but a pebble, even if you felt me less than
a twig being crushed under your foot...still...and so, i thought that i wanted you to kill me.
subaru: even if you forgot about killing me...even if i was nothing more than one of
countless offerings to the sakura...at least, it would have been you.
seishirou: ...now that i think about it...you...never have been able to prepare yourself to
kill anyone...because...you're kind.
seishirou: ...subaru-kun...i...
[muffled words]
subaru: ...you...never...say the words...i'm expecting to hear...do you?

and then he died, in subaru's arms.

later, it is explained by fuuma and kakyou on seishirou's reasons for dying. hokotu had
cast a spell on him with her last breath that if he tried to kill subaru that same way she
was killed, it would rebound and kill him. therefore, it is seen that seishirou actually
wanted to die, and be killed by subaru.

it is said by fuuma that seishirou really didn't have a will to live, and so to be killed by
his special person, he was happy. so that means that seishirou actually had feelings for
the sumeragi, and perhaps even loved him.

in the sidestory with his mother, we find out that seishirou killed his mother and then
became the sakurazuka-mori through it. also, she says that he will love someone else
other then herself, and that must be subaru.

one strange thing though, that has not cropped up in the manga yet, is this quote from
fuuma: "a 'kekkai' us created in order to protect something one ought to protect. if one
has nothing to protect, it's useless. and so one of the seven seals disappear, and the
empty place among the dragons of the earth will be filled."

what does that mean? is subaru now one of the seven angels? since the only thing he
wanted to protect was seishirou, i am guessing that he can no longer put up a 'kekkai'.
but i can't see subaru as a dragon of the earth.

i guess that is enough about seishirou. since he still is my favourite character, it seems
likely that i will write heaps on him. not happy that he had to be the first of the 14 to die
though.
