Ok I will be babbling about Ami all the way. So who doesn't bother to read this or doesn't want
to know about my views on her can go and play somewhere else because this might get
boring.
SailorMercury and Her Powers . . .
Ami is the second Sailor Senshi to be found whose elements is of both
water and ice. Most people say that she is a weakling and has the
weakest attacks compared to the other Senshi. They too say that she
lags the team. Is this true?
Let us take Shabon Spray for instance: which most people think
is the weakest attack ever. For your information, that lousy
attack saved the Senshi's butts most of the time in Season 1.
When SailorMoon needs to annihilate those idiotic MOTD
(monster-of-the-day), she needs SailorMercury's Shabon Spray to
confuse them first, then she kills them. Shabon Spray is a very
important defense attack in Season 1. Here's another episode in
SailorMoon SuperS where a painter was attacked by a monster.
SailorJupiter, the most powerful Inner Senshi, couldn't stop the
monster, the same goes for Mars and Venus, but when it was Mercury's
turn she was able to freeze it with her Mercury Aqua Rhapsody. And
the other Senshi cheered her for that! Then (for the gazillion-th time)
SailorMoon was able to kill the MOTD with Mercury's help.
Defense . . .
Who says her powers are all attacks? Most of them are defense
attacks. You can't go charging after your opponent without defense.
You'll be killed before you are able to lay a finger on him! If it
weren't for Mercury's defense attacks and her analysis of the monster,
the SailorSenshi would be in their graves by now. Of course SailorMoon can kill
the MOTD by herself. It's just that most of the time it is due to
Mercury's defense attacks. So now what do you think of her? Is she a
weakling or is she not?
Love or Hate Her . . .
I have read what others wrote as to why they hated her. The most
stupid reasons are because she's two-dimensional and ugly! What is
wrong with you people, maybe you're not pretty yourself. I have
to admit, Ami was rather funny looking in the first two seasons, but
in SailorMoon SuperS she was pretty and the animators have improved her hair!
Anyway the reason why I fell helplessly in love with Ami's character is not because
she looked good, it is because I like her attitude, her intelligence and
most importantly, her determination in becoming a doctor and trying to
pursue her dreams even after discovering that she is a SailorSenshi. To like
or hate her depends on people, not everyone has the same taste in things.
Ami and Michiru . . .
Ah, the most eminent and stupid comparison to be made in the history of men.
First thing that I would like to say is ... Why the heck would you want to
compare characters?! Everyone is different and special in their own way and there
is no reason for you to compare them because they will never be equal and you will
never come to a conclusion on which one is better! Both Ami and Michiru are
special in their own way and neither of them outweighs the other.
I know that most of Michiru fans always compare both Michiru and Ami.
The both of them are stunningly beautiful, talented, and rich and both
have attacks that have to do with water. As for me, I think they are equal.
I do not believe in comparing people. Everyone has their own talents and no one
is perfect. Both Ami and Michiru have their own faults, they are not flawless.
Ami is shy, innocent and intelligent whereas Michiru carries an air of
superiority and maturity. You must keep in mind that Michiru is older than Ami,
therefore she is more matured and has more experience in life.
The other thing that people would just love to compare is Mercury's and Neptune's
powers. Umm, have you even seen or read the BSSM series? Anyway just for your information, there
is one episode in the anime where Haruka explained to Mamoru that both Michiru, Setsuna
and she are given powers far stronger than that of the Inner Senshi. This is because they have to
protect Earth from outside invasion, not the ones that are coming from earth itself, which is the work
of the Inner Senshi.
Therefore, in order to carry out their tasks that require great strength and
power, they were granted with powers far stronger than that of the Inner Senshi. That is why they did not
receive any new powers even after they have powered up to SuperSenshi. So leave the
Ami and Michiru alone. Comparing them would be like comparing apples and oranges, which
are utterly different. Michiru and Ami are good friends, therefore there is no
reason why you should compare them in the first place!
Importance of Ami . . .
Many may not realize the importance of Ami's role in BSSM. If you want to know,
Ami is the one who breaks the fight between Usagi and Rei. Think about this for
a second, what if Mercury is to be thrown out of the team? The answer is that
there would be no Planet Powers. Not to mention that Ami is the brain of the
Inner Senshi and she has saved their lives so many times in Season 1.
So Mercury is an important member in the group, face it! Whether
she's beautiful or not it's up to you to judge. Beauty lies in the eyes
of the beholder as it is said. Plus people, this is anime we're talking about
why the heck would you even bother about comparing cartoon characters? Don't you
people have anything better to do? |
