The actual score was Florida State 23, Florida 12.

I can't say enough about this game. I'm not even going to try.

With most everyone predicting a low-scoring game, it was inevitable that the PrediXn Derby would be close: There just aren't that many different numbers to pick! So Eric Lyman (a rehabilitated sports writer exiled to Peru), Tom Thomas, and Herb Wills all ended up with identical 24-13 predixns, a difference of 1.41, and a share of the final PrediXn Derby crown of the regular season. Behind them, Tallahasseans Ed Bettinger and Tom Rowland completed the top five with a tie for fourth (2.83). And no whining about how the fumble in the endzone affected the scores.

And the curtain falls on Florida State's regular season, and therefore on the Seminole Football PrediXn Derby. The team will be making an encore appearance in about six weeks, so maybe the Derby will too, but for right now I just want to put away the spreadsheet and reflect on everything that has happened this autumn. It has been one wild ride, and I don't think that anyone thought it would end with Marcus Outzen leading the team to victory over the Gators. Pretty sneaky of the offensive coaching staff to hold their best quarterback in reserve till the end of the season, eh?
