The actual score was Florida State 34, Georgia Institute of Technology 7.

Always respect the 'Nole D. It's no mistake that this week's top prognosticators, Peter Elliott and Da Beemer, had two of the three lowest predixns for Georgia Tech's point total. Their difference of 4.24 makes them this week's co-champions; unlike the NCAA, the PrediXn Derby doesn't have a tie breaker. Rounding out the top five were Tchaka! with a difference of 6.08, Herb Wills (6.32), and Dave Antonoff (7.21). Not great predixns, but anything better than 10.00 is quite respectable, and good enough to disqualify you from a career in sports reporting. Witness this week's media predixns:

Years of experience and paycheck size doesn't seem to co-relate with performance for these guys. I'll bet they all beat Corso, though.

Next Saturday the Seminoles are back in Doak Campbell Stadium for a Hallowe'en night visit from North Carolina's Tarheels. Altho' UNC was the media's pick for Atlantic Coast Conference runner-up this year, the 1998 season has been disappointing at best for the 'Heels. But a win over the Seminoles would give them a winning record for the first time this season, and they've got to be hoping to catch Florida State in a post-Georgia Tech letdown, or looking ahead to Virginia. The Seminoles, on the other hand, have finally fought their way back into the battle for the league title, and know that they have to win all three of their remaining conference games to stay there.
