The actual score was Florida State 30, Southern Cal 10.
The predixns this week were a lot better than the weather forecasts, which called for hurricane Georges to put a hurtin' on northwest Florida. Instead, the weather was fair and it was the Trojans that got the hurtin'. Bob Stuke's 34 - 13 predixn enabled him to improve on his runner-up finish in last week's FSU-Duke PrediXn Derby; he was this week's champion with a difference of 5.00. Also returning to the top five was second place finisher Eric Lyman (6.00), sending his predixn from a laptop on the Amazon River. Bob Murray, Mike Sukhadwala, and Scott Mandell all tied for third (6.40).
As for the pro-fesh-nulls:

I'm getting kind of tired of beating up on these guys. Anyone know of any other journalists getting paid for questionable predixns?
My thanks go out to everyone who played this week. I don't know of a better bunch of people to have been humiliated by. ;-)
Next Saturday the Seminoles travel north (hopefully beyond the path of yet another tropical storm) to Byrd Stadium in College Park, Maryland, where Florida State will mix it up with the University of Maryland Terrapins. The Terps have never won a game with the Seminoles, being 0 for 8 since the teams first met back in 1966. However, Maryland won't keep losing to the 'Noles forever -- they aren't Duke, you know. Is this the year the Terps stick one to the 'Noles? Or will Yertle the Turtle stumble against the 'Noles a ninth time?
Let's see who knows. Send your predixn of the final score of Florida State at Maryland to:
Please put something like "FSU @ UMD" in the subject line so I don't mistake it for a message from another spammer selling androstenedione (my predixns are made without the use of performance-enhancing drugs, and I think it shows). Make sure you send your predixn early enough so that it gets to me before kickoff, which I think is at 1:00 PM EDT on Saturday, October 3, but I've seen other times listed. Why not avoid confusion and just send it now? Timely entries will be recorded to be scored and rated following the outcome of the game. Results, much like the ones above, will be posted to alt.sports.football.college.fsu-seminoles and will eventually make their way to the Seminole Football PrediXn Derby web page at http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Arena/5177/ (but don't hold your breath).
Good luck!
