Chapter 8
The sun was slowly crawling its way down in the sky and the girls decided it was best to seek shelter for the night. Hannah found a large bush that was hollow inside. She begged the two into sleeping in it she said it would be fun. Chandra and Kathleen were too tired to argue.
Hannah dashed around gathering leaves for pillows and moss for bedding. This is going to her head Kathleen thought. Once Hannah had finished she complained nonstop about being hungry.
"In the morning we'll see if we can't find a town or something," Chandra told Hannah "The people that were chasing us probably hit us with a dart gun or something and moved us to a different location so we'd be lost." Though all knew that was a lie it seemed like a small bit of hope.
"Sure" Kathleen said climbing into the large bush. Once inside looking around she said "You know this really isn't so bad if only we had some food."
"Yeah I'm hungry." Hannah whined crawling into the bush. Soon they were all comfortable in their beds of leaves, moss and flowers (complements of Hannah). As they made plans for tomorrow the sky darkened and stars were starting to appear. Snuggling into bits of tree and grass the three tried to sleep.
The night edged on Kathleen swore she heard an animal pass by every few minutes. She didn't know whether to wake everyone up or just forget about it; she almost did to until Chandra sighed heavily, shifting in her grass bed.
"Chandra?" Kathleen said quietly. Afraid Chandra might have not heard her.
"Yeah" Chandra whispered.
"Do you keep hearing a animal pass by?" Kathleen hoped she didn't sound scared.
"Yeah I do. I think it's a rabbit or something. No big don't worry about it go back to bed."
Kathleen was awake now and all the noises seamed to be magnified.
"Kathleen?" Chandra's voice questioned. "Still up?"
"I'm up"
"Can't sleep?" Chandra questioned again.
"Nope, though" Kathleen muttered " I was wondering why you were at my house yesterday."
"You guys are full of questions aren't you" Chandra said but still went on. " Actually I had just moved down the street a few houses from yours. I knew you lived close by so I thought I would drop by for a visit." Even though it was dark Kathleen could still see Chandra flash her a smile.
"I saw people with guns so I hid behind the hedge in front of your house. That's when you went up to the door, the people didn't look all too friendly so I grabbed you and well you know the rest."
"But what would they have done if I would have went in side?" Kathleen asked.
"Go to sleep Kathleen" Chandra yawned, " We have to get up early" Not asking any more questions and blocking the mad hopping sound of the rabbit Kathleen feel asleep.
