Hi! Welcome to the November, 2002, archived entries for A Butterfly Blogs... Weblogs like this one have been popping up all over the Internet for quite some time now. They are becoming an increasingly popular way to articulate oneself using all means of creativity and self~expression available to the imagination.

The entries contained within the pages of this website represent just a smidgeon of the several thousand links that represent my unusually eclectic web surfing habits. Please feel free to share, and don't forget to respect the copyrights of others..

Well, it's getting close! I can feel it. I am just about ready to finally launch www.ButterflyBytes.com. The fog is starting to lift, and I think I almost can see the light at the end of the tunnel. To that end, I am beginning this blog.

My XHTML code is passing as XHTML Transitional! My CSS code is passing, too, but currently I'm having to keep it within (internal) the main webpage until I figure out why it's not working through my free pages here at Yahoo! Geocities. I just made the decision that it would be more worthwhile for me to get my newest website started. After that, I can go back and wrestle with the evil troll who is hiding whatever switch would make my job SOOOO much easier if I could use external cascading style sheets on my sites.

Today I made an honest to goodness attempt to learn about CSS (cascading style sheets) since I plan on doing a lot of webpages from now on and I need things to be as easy as they can be. One thing led to another and I ended up validating the HTML I've been using on my webpages. Sheeesh! What a mess! As much as I check and recheck my code, there are still lots of whoopses there to be corrected. If you're curious about your own, check your CSS (cascading style sheets) and your HTML according to your declared doctype for free through the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It's an eye opener!

It didn't take me long to figure out that no matter how hard I work at my own code, the webpages the surfing public see are never going to pass the validating tests because I use free sites. Free sites still come with a price. That price is the code that the hosting companies use to throw in all of their advertising. I just validated one of the pages for my online portfolio, a simple sample linked site. There are 342 errors showing the way I have my pages labeled. This is going to hurt me in the searches because search engines are looking more and more for continuity in the coding of webpages.
