Stories
I've been thinking about summer and Christmas.
Seems a bit odd that, doesn't it? Well, I have. I've been thinking that when you are a kid Christmas and summer are two of the most exciting "events".
Christmas meant presents, the family, candy - all sorts of things.
Summer was no school, sleeping in, the summer TV for children, sun, bathing and perhaps a holiday somewhere unusual.
That was Christmas and summer for me as a kid. Now, at age nineteen, I do not find it so. Christmas has lost its charm while summer is the same.
The presents you get don't seem so grand anymore, the candy isn't quite the same. The snow doesn't pile quite so high as it used to. (Of course that may be because I've grown too). It just isn't magical anymore.
But summer; the sun is still as high as it was, the water is as warm, the garden is just as green and lush as it used to be.
The strawberries are just as red and they taste as divinely as they used to.
This doesn't mean that I don't like winter any more - I do. When the snow piles up and the slopes are pristine. It's just the magic of Christmas which has gone while summer is as always.
