Liberal Thinking: Death or injury to those who can't use martial arts or other non-lethal means of self-defense-- The young, the old, the infirm, the disabled, the weak, the small, and the pregnant--are simply the necessary sacrifice we must make to criminals, to avoid the risks of letting honest, law abiding people be armed. Here's what THOSE Officers say about this Gun Registry Farce
| |||||||||||||||||
So Much For Gun Control! Anne McLellan declared that "I'm very concerned about the whole question of gun violence and about the whole question of gun smuggling." Great. Although she immediately blunted the impact of those remarks by insisting that "we have no evidence that there are more guns being smuggled into the country than ever before." Well, there's only one of two choices here, and neither one reflects terribly well on current Liberal crime policies. Either these guns are getting into the country through the United States or from other countries through our ports of entry and the federal government's customs agents are not able to prevent it, or these guns are, in fact, originating from here in Canada and the $2-billion boondoggle of a gun registry is - surprise, surprise! - not stopping criminal from using guns. Back in late 1994, when then-justice minister Allan Rock first unveiled the gun-control program, he declared, "This tough new gun-control program will improve public safety and also send a strong message that the criminal misuse of guns will not be tolerated." Eleven years later, the Liberals are suddenly worried about gun crime because Toronto has been blitzed by gun violence. In a more sane country, Toronto would realize that the gun registry has been exposed as an expensive waste of money and would punish the Liberals for lying to them by voting them out. And the Grits would shut down their useless registry and put the money into actual police officers fighting crime. (As Torontonians run for cover, the Liberals tell them 'crime is down'! Of course it's down! Down Town that is! It's a hell of a good job they spent that billion or two ridding Toronto streets of 'duck hunters' instead of foolishly wasting it on crap like border security, and more police officers patrolling major city streets Etc. After all, everybody knows it's those damn 'hip-hop' duck hunters causing all the problems, and the sooner all legitimate, and legally obtained firearms and their owners are scrutinized, tracked and punished, the sooner crime will come to an end in Toronto streets. Well, according to the liberals anyway!) Canada needs to act to combat crime, not study it further(?) "One of the things that has made Canada a great country historically has been our traditionally low crime rate," Harper said. "Unfortunately, times are changing, our cities are changing." He's not kidding. Our justice system's soft-headed attitude toward crime has virtually turned it into a career option for lazy people. But does Harper really need a task force to tell him what's wrong with the current weak-kneed approach? We think not. If the Tory party doesn't have a well-considered platform on crime by now, it will never have one. After all, B.C. MPs like Randy White have been shouting about the need for reform for years. Folks are fed up with studies and task forces. They want some real action on the crime front.(Perhaps, what Mr. Harper is saying, is that the Tory's will DO something. The problem with task forces, and studies is that people have become conditioned to the Liberal style of task force and study. The Liberal style is of course spend a bunch tax dollars on a study/task force, then bury the results if they don't meet liberal dogma. Essentially, it's important to LOOK like your doing something, spread some tax dollars around to friends and colleagues to sit on a task force/study etc., do and spend what ever in the hell you think the public will tolerate at the time as being politically correct. These liberals studies and task forces virtually never produce results, (at least not results their willing to publish) but always cost a bundle. Perhaps Mr. Harper will pump a little 'fresh air' into the old study/task force dogma!) Law Emphasizes Bull If a pit bull ban goes into effect across the province but no one's there to enforce it, does it make a difference? Not much. But in this case, that's a good thing, because legislation banning pit bulls, which starts taking effect today, is the most wrongheaded Grit gaffe since the federal gun registry. We applaud Attorney General Michael Bryant's attempt, in part of this legislation, to toughen penalties for irresponsible dog owners and breeders, who are responsible for most attacks by dogs of all breeds. This part of the crackdown is long overdue, but, as with most Liberal-launched laws, just because the maximum penalties are theoretically tougher (including a top fine of $10,000 and a possible six months in jail) it doesn't mean any judge will ever impose them. As for the centrepiece of the law, which bans pit bulls and, essentially, any dog that just looks like a pit bull, it's little more than an insult -- both to the people (and animals) it restricts and those it supposedly seeks to protect. The slower it is implemented, then, the better. (You know! It's amazing that Liberals can even walk properly with all those knee jerking responses to perceived problems. How come we never see liberal knee jerk response to drunk drivers for example. A guy in Ontario (liberal country) just got 3 years for killing two people in what was described as a drunk driving "accident'. This of course means the liberals, of which many I assume are drinkers that own cars, think a human life is worth a year and a half in jail. Well, actually 2 years, because of liberal mandated mandatory release after 2/3 of a sentence. There is no such thing as a "Drunk Driving Accident" any more than if a drunk steals a firearm, loads it, and walks down a street just firing randomly in any direction. After killing two people would that then be a "drunk shooting accident" not Fn likely.. The pit bull thing is the same. No liberal can positively identify just what a pit bull is, so them ban everything they think a pit bull should look like. This of course only proves liberals are are a prime example of the ignorant leading the stupid, and they simply can't back down now, because that would only be reaffirming that notion! ) Conservative leader announces party's task force on safe streets Harper said Prime Minister Paul Martin and his Liberals do nothing but talk about the problem and called their approach to crime "expensive and phoney." He pointed to the billion-dollar federal gun registry and said it has done nothing to get weapons off the streets. Harper has said nixing the registry would save between $25 million and $100 million a year in maintenance costs and that money could be better spent to hire more police officers to battle crime. The task force will be co-chaired by MP Russ Hiebert from B.C., and Jim Flaherty, a provincial Conservative in Ontario. Crime has long been a hot topic in Hiebert's Surrey riding, near Vancouver, where the Surrey Crime Prevention Society welcomes the initiative. "I think if everybody works together, it's definitely going to help," said Jim King, executive director. His group is willing to work with politicians of all stripes to battle crime, particularly the hot local problems of auto theft, marijuana grow-ops and the growing scourge of crystal meth abuse. Harper promised Thursday to have a report and recommendations by Oct. 31. Flaherty was an attorney general under former premier Mike Harris, who made law and order a favourite theme. "The continued increase in many crime indicators and the fact that the overall crime rate has not seen a marked decrease while the Liberals have been in power is a clear indication that the Liberal approach to combating crime, as on so many other issues, has failed," Harper said Thursday in a release. The Liberals announced Wednesday that there will be a summit held in Toronto to discuss the problem of gun and gang violence in the city. "The recent spate of gun violence in Toronto is something that is of concern to the federal government," said Alex Swann, spokesman for Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan. Justice Minister Irwin Cotler will also be in Toronto for an extended visit next week to meet with gun-violence victims and others on the issue. A Conservative government would focus on providing adequate funding for police officers and amending the Criminal Code to provide for a more realistic approach to violent crime, Harper said.(Unless the Liberals can produce HARD verifiable facts that their useless registry of duck hunters, target shooters, and firearms collectors, is resulting in a drop in violent crime, then Harper is on the right track. It should be scrapped. The ONLY reason it still exists today, is the Liberals would be admitting that they made a mistake, everyone 'else' was right, and they wasted a billion or two dollars. THAT ain't going to happen soon, particularly with a election on the horizon. So instead, they blather on about how crime has dropped 'one percent' (that's 1%!!!) but homicides increased 12%. Isn't that just wonderful, the Liberals feel very good, about 'crime(?) being down 1%, but homicide is UP 12% Could it be that a 12% INCREASE in homicide, is a direct result of the criminal KNOWING that thanks to the Liberals, THEIR chance of being shot has dropped drastically, while in the process of causing their victims death? Looks the like "culture of safety" is working.... For the criminal!) Who Kills People? This summer, perhaps due to the higher than average temperatures, has seen a record increase in gun crimes in Ontario, most predominantly in the Greater Toronto Area (“GTA”). A dozen people have been shot to death in this past month alone. Shooting deaths so far this year already eclipse the total for all of last year. So who is to blame for this spate of death-by-bullet? Is it the criminals firing the guns? The lax immigration policies of the Canadian government (after all, it has been noted that the majority of the violence relates to feuding Jamaican-immigrant gangs)? Not according to Toronto’s mayor, Mayor David Miller. In Mayor Miller’s mind, the root cause of this summer from hell is the United States’ gun control laws or, as Mayor Miller asserts, lack thereof. The Canadian government has already invested well over $2 Billion dollars with its laughable gun registry program. The idea was that all we have to do is tell people to come register their guns and, like magic, problem solved. Suffice it to say that there weren’t line-ups of criminals itching to get their guns registered. The failure of tighter gun control laws as a way to solve gun crimes should be readily apparent by now to anyone with the ability to read. Countries with the tightest gun control laws (i.e. Britain, Australia) tend to have higher rates of violent crime than those with less restrictive laws. The same holds true on the State level, with states like Chicago (which completely banned gun ownership) having some of the highest violent crime rates.(Strangely, Liberals are silent about the fact that the U.S. violent crime rate is dropping, while Canada's is increasing. The U.S. has 70 times as many guns as Canada, if guns 'are' the problem, shouldn't the U.S. rate be climbing as well? 38 States have now passed concealed carry laws which allow the law abiding citizen to carry a concealed firearm for self defence. THOSE states have seen a significant drop in violent crime rates, some as high as 24%. Again, if 'guns' are the problem, those states should have a rampant crime rate with shoot-outs in the street every day, just like the gun grabbers said will happen, but nope, the crime rate is falling. States like Vermont which have NO gun control laws, enjoy a much lower crime rate than their 'gun controlled' neighbour Quebec, and the 4 western provinces have a 60% higher crime rate than the bordering 'gun infested' states. Clearly, the only gun problem in Canada, is the fact that ONLY the law abiding citizen has trouble getting firearms. The Criminal has no problem at all, and can also be assured his law abiding victims will be unarmed. And THAT make his job much safer. Hmm, the liberals 'did' say these stupid gun laws were designed to increase safety, but who's?) Mayor Miller’s moronic musings First it was all the fault of those damn Americans with their lax gun laws. If only the Americans passed gun control legislation similar to ours, then Toronto wouldn’t be enjoying a bumper crop of gun crimes. Any fool can see that those guns killing all those young men are American. That’s very likely why Toronto Mayor David Miller is so clear in identifying some of the root causes of this crime wave. His most recent inanity is that all gun owners should be forced to keep their guns in a secure central depository to be retrieved presumably on a loan-basis, as they are needed. Isn’t it just like a socialist municipal politician to want to punish law-abiding people for crimes committed by outlaws? This would be analogous of a farmer beating his sheep because a fox was stealing chickens from his hen house.(A socialist Mayor, voted in by ordinary Torontonians, who didn't know any better! I doubt if he will enjoy a second term. ) WHOS IN CONTROL? What we need to decide is who is in charge here. Our leaders? Or the criminals? If we choose our leaders, the only way to win is to fund and equip our police, care for them and let them do their jobs without fear of reprisals. They are not social workers. And if it means cars are pulled over then that's what it means. If it means tougher deportation laws, that's what it means. If it means 10-years-minimum in prison for possessing an unregistered gun then that's what it means. If it means areas of town are curfewed or closed down to crowds and traffic, then that's what it means. That's right. Zero tolerance. Zero. It's our city. Not theirs. I choose our leaders to lead. That's my challenge to them.(Five MORE shootings in Toronto Sunday night, and NO, if the knee jerk reaction to the possession of a 'unregistered gun' means 10 years in prison, you will have literally millions of 'new' felons who have boycotted the liberal uselessness of a gun registry. Only a complete and utter idiot would think that registering a gun, would somehow make it safer. The gun is perfectly safe as it is. PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND PAY ATTENTION!!!! It's the CRIMINALS NOT the guns.. If it was the guns, the U.S.A. would have 70 times as many shootings as Canada, and their Suicide rate would be higher, and it's NOT. The problem with Canada's crime rate is the result of several intertwining factors. Canadians have been carefully groomed by decades of liberals, to be a country of 'Victims', living in a 'Culture of Defencelessness', with a Catch and Release, Revolving Door Just-Us Industry, whose primary concern seems to be the continued, and expanding, gainful employment of Judges, Prosecutors, and Lawyers.This system has nothing to do with justice, rehabilitation, victims rights, or even punishment for the crime. AND, to make matters worse, the liberals have rubber-stamped, and released over 30,000 people into our cities with outstanding deportation orders. Toronto's Socialist Mayor, and Ontario's Lying Liberals headed up by another socialist, tell us it's the U.S. guns that are the problem, NOT the Criminals, but the guns!!! You see, to a liberal, there is no such thing as a criminal, only misunderstood individuals, that if it were not it would seem for the evil radiation given off by smuggled handguns, Canada would likely not even 'have' a crime problem. The problems with Canada, will NEVER go away as long as bleeding heart liberals are running things. Remember, these are the 'same' liberals, that tell us mandatory sentences for possession of a gun 'WHILE COMMITTING A FELONY' will not work, but for some reason the 'gun registry', with maybe one third of all 'legal guns' and their law abiding owners in it, somehow(?) reduces crime (although they have no statistical proof of this). These are ALSO the same liberals that gave imprisoned 'criminals' the vote, and THAT alone should tell you where their priorities lay. FOR THINGS TO CHANGE, THE LIBERALS HAVE TO GO!!. Perhaps Torontonians should now, 'bite the bullet' and vote conservative, instead of taking cover and dodging them in a bogus Liberal "culture' of safety") Kyoto Lunacy: Watch our economy stall as emission quotas kick in! According to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, the effect of implementing the Kyoto accord on every Canadian household, rich or poor, will be to increase taxes by about $3,000 per year. That's based on an estimated cost to set up the Kyoto system equal to half the debt Alberta just retired. But that won't be the end of it, not by a long shot. Industrial companies, already investing in pollution elimination technology, and forced to buy emissions credits, won't absorb the costs. Instead, they'll pass them on to consumers and shareholders (in the form of reduced dividends from lower earnings). Eventually, whether they're saying so or not, money will come directly from taxpayers. (I wonder how many companies, and countries will be funnelling money back into Liberal coffers just to say 'thanks for the windfall'?.. This make more sense than 'any' dubious benefit previously expounded by this 'less than trustworthy' Political Party.. Have the Liberals 'ever' been right in one of their projected forecasts? Nope, they have ALL turned into absolute boondoggles, most directly benefiting liberal friends, and costing Canadians BILLIONS.. If you think the Liberal gun registry is a sham, wait till you see what happens here! Your grandchildren's grandchildren will not live long enough to pay off the debt, and rebuild the economy! THAT will be the liberal legacy of the 21st century ) | |||||||||||||||||
