GUN CONTROL:
Liberal Thinking: Death or injury to those who can't use martial arts or other non-lethal means of self-defense-- The young, the old, the infirm, the disabled, the weak, the small, and the pregnant--are simply the necessary sacrifice we must make to criminals, to avoid the risks of letting honest, law abiding people be armed.

This Week in History!
On SATURDAY, APRIL 2 IN 1873, what became known as the Pacific Scandal erupted when the Liberals charged that two businessmen gave money to the Conservatives in return for permission to build the Canadian Pacific Railway. (A Railway which of course had benefited Canada, for generations to come.. Nothing at all like Businessmen in the Quebec advertising industry, giving the Liberal Party  back 'laundered' tax dollars, paid in bogus contracts, to buy even more bogus contracts from the Liberal Party for doing absolutely nothing in return.)

Firearms Act Amendments Coming Into Force
"We are meeting the commitments we made last May to streamline processes and improve services to firearm owners, while ensuring the Firearms Program continues to make its important contribution to public safety in our communities," said Minister McLellan. "The changes will help ensure that we achieve our public-safety goals in a fair and balanced way that recognizes the needs of responsible firearm owners for simple, user-friendly processes, as well as the need for effective, cost-efficient gun control."(AND, just WHAT "important contribution to public safety" could she possible be talking about? This woman must now hold the liberal record for blatant bullshit!! When virtually every media source in Canada, (with the possible exception of the Trudeau er.. Toronto Star) has editorialized the utter waste of of the billion dollars squandered on this gun control farce. The only supporters it has left, are those that directly benefit financially from it's existence. Benefits such as the more than $500,000.00 received by the coalition for gun control, the official paid cheerleaders for this travesty. So Ms. McLellan (Minister of "WETFIIN" [what ever the fuck it is now]! )  is announcing "amendments" to this act which is aimed squarely at the wrong people, when in-fact most rational people are waiting for the impending demise of this farce at the hands of the future new conservative government. To understand this logic I guess, one must keep in mind, McLellan's idea of "cost effectiveness" is saving 1.2 million dollars by closing a much needed forensic (CIS) lab out west, thereby increasing the already huge backlog of forensic cases, and then dumping another hundred million into the 'duck hunter registry'.. A lot of people are convinced that the billion dollars wasted on this farce has all the earmarks, and smell of another liberal Ad-Scam type deal. If it wasn't, how can they account for so much money utterly 'vanishing' into this yet another, Liberal black hole. Oh, and 'still' after Mayerthorpe, you think the current Liberal 'gun control' effort is keeping you safe, see the link in the next story below.. You can also read the 'Backgrounder' to this soon to be defunct liberal financing scam )
Fear in Toronto
Toronto's Interim Deputy Chief says he can understand why some people think the city is more dangerous than it used to be. A new Compass poll shows half of those living in Toronto are in fear of being a victim of crime.
Bill Blair (and Statistics Canada) says overall crime is decreasing but violent crime particularly those involving guns is on the rise. He says there have been instances where innocent people have been caught in the cross-fire and that's what many fear. But if you're not in a gang, or abusive household, Blair thinks you'll live a violence-free life in Toronto.  Aside from putting more cops on the street, he says the city and the police force could make people feel less afraid by better promoting the fact that Toronto is one of the safest large cities in North America.(Yup, why only 5 to 10 times as many people are killed by 'other' gang bangers, or caught in crossfire as used to happen back when 'Gun control' was virtually non-existent, and 'criminal control' was more prevalent. If you spend a lot of time travelling the streets of Toronto, body armour 'may' be a wise choice.. Of course, you will be stopped by police officers and thoroughly questioned about 'why' your wearing a bullet resistant vest.. It would seem that police feel 'they' are the only lives worth protecting when infact far more innocent citizens are shot in Toronto each year than Police officers.. Considering that, citizens should have the right to wear whatever protection they want, 'without' question..)
How DARE you defend yourself in the U.K.
The weapon, which was fired by pulling a ring and pressing a button, was found nearby. Alistair Edie, defending, said Ellison, of Strepton Road, Manchester, discharged the gun out of fear following a fracas in which he was stabbed in the back. Ellison pleaded guilty to possessing the firearm. The judge accepted Ellison had been stabbed, but said, although he had no firearms convictions, the minimum sentence of five years would be imposed.(Well, in the U.K., where the law says you must be totally unarmed, you should 'do the right thing and die' when attacked. 5 years in her Majesties is prison is considered 'minimum' I guess, for the insolence of not being killed like a good little peasant!!)
The Case Against Guns(??)
MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA -- (OfficialWire) -- 03/27/05 -- I am going to take it as at least a given that one of the proper roles of government is to regulate those things which are demonstrably dangerous to public health and safety. This is why all governments have laws prohibiting the private ownership of nuclear weapons. It is held - reasonably, I think - that the risk to the public of either an accidental or deliberate detonation justifies the restriction on personal freedom. Were the public ownership of Siberian tigers to be commonplace, they would be found on every block in the city, stored in apartments and garages, sometimes lost and sometimes let lose. Sometimes they would be used to inflict harm on others - especially burglars - but just as often they would inflict harm on their owners, who through ignorance or neglect, accidentally freed the dangerous animals. Stories of random Siberian tiger attacks in city streets would be common. Every week, a number of small children would be mauled by the family Siberian tiger. As the death toll mounted, citizens would cry out, almost as one, Something must be done! Just as it is common for towns and cities in more frontier regions to take steps to repel dangerous predators, the Siberian tigers of lower Manhattan would be rounded up and either destroyed or sent to less urban climes.(From the comparing of "guns" to nuclear bombs and Siberian Tigers, this 'flake' even trots out the thoroughly discredited blather about  firearms in the home being 43 time more likely.. etc..etc..etc.. Everyone who has been laughing at people like this are familiar with the 'fringe' thinking that generates the oft mentioned  twisted gun statistics. One of those being, that guns, left alone, like Siberian tigers, will make their way onto the street and create mayhem if there are enough of them around, to I suppose, become a independent force attacking people at will.. I'm truly sorry, that his 'exposure' to a fellow wearing a pistol in a cafe was so upsetting to him.. He obviously is uncomfortable with the fact that 'some' people have the RIGHT to protect themselves from the crazies of the world, and are all not born and bred victims of the Canadian Liberal social engineering experiment . This poor sheltered traveller  looked like a threat, so the armed fellow in the cafe simply, by showing the butt of his pistol, averted any problems that might emanate from someone that looked as dishevelled as the author of this piece of outright paranoid drivel...As for the "fortress" gas station in Gary Indiana? Has this guy visited Toronto recently? There are MANY gas stations that do exactly the same thing. Why? because THEY are encouraged to be victims by the police.. Don't' arm yourself, give the criminals what they want, don't fight back.. Hell, it's as if the government gets a 'cut' of the crime proceeds.. Maybe in a way they do? If the criminal is arrested, the Canadian revolving door of justice, dumps him right back on the street, in most cases before his last victim is even out of the hospital. Who benefits most from this action? The Canadian Legal & Justice Industry that's who! )
BB-shooting boy charged with assault
City police have charged a Thunder Bay high school student for firing BBs at other students last month. A 15-year-old boy has been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and one count of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, Thunder Bay Police said Thursday. Police spokesman Chris Adams said the air gun that was used by the boy is legal, but “in this case it was deemed a weapon” under the Criminal Code of Canada. Last month, the Hammarskjold high school student was suspended for firing the air gun at other children on a bus. The air gun was a replica of a Walther P22 pistol. It was made of clear plastic and fired small, plastic six-millimetre BBs. “Retailers are allowed to sell them,” Adams said. “They just have to make sure they sell them to people 18 years or older.” If used at close range, the air gun could injure someone, Adams said. These types of guns don’t have to be licensed in order for people to own them, he added. (A 'clear' plastic gun, which also by the way has a bright red tip, was the firearm used in this heinous 'crime' I'm not saying what he did was not stupid, but for christ sake, it was a clear plastic toy 'airsoft' gun, with a red tip, that outside of a direct shot to the eye, was incapable of inflicting injury on anyone. This was NOT the Red Ryder BB gun that shot you in the ass back in the fifties, and stung like a sonofabitch (a right of passage for most kids that grew up in those days) but a CLEAR PLASTIC TOY, less dangerous than the 'sharp pencil' of which every kid on that bus would have been armed. A simple suspension, confiscation of the toy, and perhaps a essay on how stupid he was would have been more of a benefit to everybody. This 'knee jerk' over reaction by both the police, and the school will eventually cause more harm than anything possible the 6 mm lightweight plastic ball this toy shoots. Perhaps some school sanctioned firearms training, or a trip to a local gun club for an educational look at firearms safety. Oh ya I forgot, the Liberal school thinking is severely Punish them, then "Keep em Ignorant. Keep em Safe".. After all, it's worked so well for Sex education )
Questions raised about armed SkyTrain cops
TransLink says it will be the first transit police force in Canada to carry guns. And the BCCLA wants to know why guns are necessary here, if not elsewhere. The group's policy director, Micheal Vonn, also warns that the weapons could cause more problems than they solve. "You are introducing a weapon into a confined space with a lot of members of the public," she says. "If that person should become disarmed, it ups the ante in terms of potential violence." But Solicitor General Rich Coleman argues that equipping SkyTrain police with guns will make the public safer. He says the new force should have the same tools as other police officers. "I can't believe that the BC Civil Liberties don't think that police officers, no matter where they're doing their duties, shouldn't be in a position to protect themselves and the public," he says. Coleman says the firearms decision was well thought out and is no longer up for discussion.("Why are guns needed here, if not elsewhere"? Thats just the point, they ARE needed elsewhere, and BC Translink will be the 'first'. What good to public safety is a unarmed transit cop, or 'security guard'? Michael Vonn should ask himself: If he were surrounded by armed 'punks' on a subway trying to rob him, which would he consider to be the best possible person to help him A: a unarmed transit 'authoritative person' and his or her can of pepper spray, or B: an Armed Police Officer ? If, he were to choose 'A' then he would be clearly stating that 'his' life is not as valuable as the lives of those attacking him. I firmly believe that arming the people hired to defend possible victims, should not end with transit cops. What about the very border to our country?  These people are not armed, and they should be. How many people are aware, that The Canadian Coast Guard are 'unarmed'  does 'anyone' think they shouldn't be? I for one, feel that when  I, or any other business person who, while carrying a bank deposit for example, should be able to legally carry a concealed firearm for their own defence. Particularly, when the police are unable to provide personal protection when needed.)
Customs releases firearms report
(They actually released a report on confiscated property, but 'this' headline grabs more readers eh!)
More than 25,000 prohibited weapons -- including 5,446 guns -- were seized by Canada Customs officers at the Canada- U.S. border over a five-year period, a government report shows. The Canada Border Service report obtained by Sun Media shows that of the guns seized, 2,010 were prohibited firearms. Another 20,129 prohibited weapons, such as Mace and switchblades, were also seized. Over the past five years, customs officers seized 1,313 guns at border points in southern Ontario, along with 9,932 other prohibited weapons. (Of course, a large number of these firearms were probably the property of visiting, law abiding Americans, who simply out of ignorance, or absentmindedness, forgot about their lawfully owned firearm in the glove compartment. Remember, Americans have the RIGHT not to be victims, and silly them, they think everybody has that RIGHT!)
Top Mountie eyes cop-haters
THE HEAD of the Mounties is calling for tougher laws to protect police officers from cop haters. RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli said he hopes a review of judicial and law enforcement systems will give cops the tools to go after violent types like Alberta's James Roszko in a more aggressive way. "There isn't a police officer who can't give you a list of a number of people in his or her area anywhere in Canada ... and say these people are potentially dangerous people," Zaccardelli said at an Ottawa press conference yesterday. "There are people out there that could potentially cause harm and we know about them, but there are laws and procedures that we have to follow in dealing with them." (It's ironic, but these are exactly the same people the 2 billion dollar firearms registry of duck hunters, farmers, and target shooters, totally ignores..  Don't you think a registry of known bad guys would be a more useful endevour? God forbid the liberals trample on the rights of the criminals of this country!)
The Hollow ring of the Firearms Act and Registry!
Mr. Roszko, whom the courts had prohibited from owning firearms since 2000, was wounded by another officer who was on the property at the time of the killings. The 46-year-old then stumbled back into his farm shed and shot himself. According to the officer, Mr. Roszko was carrying a Heckler & Koch .308 semi-fully automatic rifle, had a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol in his waist band and a long barrel firearm slung over his shoulder. "Intense follow-up forensic examination and testing will be required to determine exactly what occurred inside the Quonset [farm shed]," Supt. Cheliak said. While the on-site investigation wrapped up late last week, according to a source, police officers spent days meticulously sifting for evidence by hand on the shed's sand floor.(Perhaps NOW is the time for the liberals to explain how the firearms act and the registry itself, helped to keep these officers safe! How a criminal, and cop hater, with firearms prohibitions, managed to have not only restricted weapons, but prohibited ones as well. Did not, at least ONE of the governments touted 2000 queries of the registry per day, flag this obvious problem? Not likely, Roszko, not being a "law abiding" gun owner, WAS NOT IN THE SYSTEM BECAUSE THE 'SYSTEM' HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CRIMINALS! How in the hell can keeping track of duck hunters, and target shooters protect the police from criminals that are not even recorded in the system. "Rocks Folly" has now proven itself beyond all doubt to be a worthless waste of 2 billion dollars. Created as a knee jerk reaction to one atrocity by one madman, has now cost the lives of four police officers in another atrocity, by another madman. The liberal mantra of the firearms act, and registry enhancing a "culture of safety" keeping police officers safe, rings hollow, just as hollow as the empty casings lying on the ground at Roszko's farm.)
Anatomy of an ambush
In the wake of a calamity, it's instinctive to go back to the beginning, to dig over the events leading to tragedy, and agonizingly to wonder if things could have ended differently. After the murder of four RCMP officers, thousands of Canadians are going through this process, but there are still many blanks in the picture. The eyes of the country have been on an innocuous looking farm and Quonset hut near Mayerthorpe, Alta. Millions of Canadians stunned by the brutality of the killings want to know exactly how they happened. It's a puzzle that may never be fully solved, but already many of the pieces are falling into place, including the fact that what ended in a hail of bullets here started as a routine repo job. (The police have now lifted some of that vale of secrecy surrounding this fiasco..)
Convictions were expected after lengthy probe
The idea that Canada's justice system is working properly in the case of the Air India bombing recalls the old saw about the operation being a success, despite the patient dying. The bottom line: 20 years after Canada's worst mass murder, our worst terrorist attack, those guilty still walk free. Canada's tut-tut class always tut-tuts when anyone suggests our justice system is too lax, too soft on criminals. The tutting grows to a howl at any suggestion that billions wasted on gun registry bureaucracy could be better invested in more practical law enforcement. And the tut-meter redlines when anyone dares ask whether immigration screening might be more attentive to blocking the importation of extremists and criminals to our soil disguised as refugees or seeking family unification. The tutting mutes slightly in the face of tragic events such as those near Mayerthorpe, Alta., where nearly everyone, including law enforcement and the courts, seemed pretty aware of James Roszko's propensity for violence. Despite a violent temper, a long criminal record, and a court ban from owning weapons, Roszko lived a life of crime, stockpiled guns and shot at visitors, until finally killing four RCMP constables and himself in an ending apparently deemed inevitable to many inside and outside our system of justice. How can this be, people justly wonder?(Very simple.. Under the Liberals, Canada does not have a 'Justice System', Canada has a 'Justice Industry'.. A revolving door system, that will always ensure a constant supply of criminals to maintain the constant demand for police, lawyers, judges, and government patronage appointments. Under this uniquely Canadian  justice 'industry' there will always be MORE justice for criminals, than their victims, just like it is now)
Martin counts himself a failure
It has been almost a year since Prime Minister Paul Martin stood in Saskatchewan and pledged that, like a strong Prairie wind, he would "erode" western anger towards Ottawa or count himself a failure. As Martin again toured the region this week, he may have regretted that vow as many people question what has really changed. Western voters clearly weren't convinced by Martin's promise, made in Regina shortly before the June 2004 election that reduced his mighty Liberals to a minority. And since then, many key concerns of the West have only worsened. (So, all those liberal promises, blurted out in the heat of the election were lies? Gee who woulda thunk it? Paul Martin, 'the self proclaimed 'FAILURE' is nothing but a wealthier Dalton McGuinty.. )
Harper strikes a chord
Conservative Leader Stephen Harper rallied party faithful last night in a speech that sent the right messages to all factions of the party. In his 45-minute speech, during which he received a string of standing ovations, Harper saved his darts for Paul Martin's Liberals, using a shopping list of broken promises, like Kyoto and the $1-billion gun registry. "We will never come here to Quebec, attempt to buy elections with dirty money and call it 'national unity,' " said Harper, making a reference to evidence heard at the Adscam inquiry. "Canada is not a sponsorship, and Quebec is not an advertising contract." (YAHOOOOOoo Bring on the next election...Lets get these thieving Liberals on the far back benches where they belong..)
Ad firm hid payments to Liberals, Gomery told
An advertising executive testified Thursday he was asked by Groupaction president Jean Brault to make donations to the Liberal Party and Liberal organizers, the Gomery inquiry heard. Bernard Thiboutot, who had his own consulting company, said Brault asked him in 2000 to write more than $50,000 in cheques to five people, including a former employee in the office of former public works minister Alfonso Gagliano. Thiboutot told the Gomery inquiry that Brault also asked him to make two contributions of $10,000 to the federal Liberals. "It was Mr. Brault who asked me to make the contributions of $10,000 that were for financing (political) activities,'' he said, adding Brault would reimburse him because Brault did not want to make the donations himself. In addition, Thiboutot made a $2,000 political contribution to the campaign of former Liberal cabinet minister Denis Coderre in 2000. Brault is facing criminal charges related to the sponsorship scandal, and has also been named in a $41-million federal government lawsuit. Earlier in the inquiry, communications executive Gilles-Andre Gosselin told Justice John Gomery that Brault asked him to make a $10,000 donation to the Liberals in 1999. (This isn't just a "Smoking gun", Witnesses actually saw it go off! The Liberals are not just laundering money for their own use, but they took every Canadian to the cleaners as well. This HAS to be kept in the forefront, and into the next election. How can the people that voted them into office, ever trust them again? It's truly unfortunate that 'some' voters have such short memories. Particularly the ones in Urban Ontario. Some will continue to vote for these thieves, feeling that they won't be as dishonest the 'next' time around. Wanna Bet?)
3 teens charged with plotting N.B. school attack
The mayor of St. John, N.B., says an alleged plot by three teenagers to launch a murderous attack on a local high school is "a wake up call" for all of Canada. Mayor Norm McFarlane told Canada AM his community is "in shock" at the news three teenage boys have been charged by police with planning the attack. Details about the alleged plot to take over Saint John High, the oldest public high school in the country, are still emerging. But it appears the boys planned to systematically murder some of the staff and students. At a bail hearing, police revealed the attack was planned for April 20 next year. The same day as the seventh anniversary of the 1999 shooting rampage by two students at Columbine High School in Colorado, in which 13 people died. Although no weapons have been found in the Saint John plot, police did find gunpowder and other materials for making pipe bombs. The three teens can't be named because they've been charged as young offenders. They've been placed under house arrest and suspended both from school and from the cadets. McFarlane says Saint John already feels it has learned a lot from all of this. "I think out of something like this there always comes an opportunity. And I think there's an opportunity for people across the country to look into their own areas." McFarlane also suggested parents should be mindful of what kind of websites their children are visiting. "Parents must be very conscious of their children when they're on the Internet -- when they're looking at what sites," he said. "You can actually get recipes to make bombs and so on, so we must be diligent."  The mayor also said the alleged plot is a wake up call for parents to take bullying at school seriously.  "Children today have so much in front of them, we must look at it."(Before long, and because of a combination of  'stupid' children, inattentive parents, and typical 'knee jerking' from Liberals, you will have to acquire a licence to buy most of the stuff you now have under your kitchen sink. You could walk into virtually ANY home in North America, and find a combination of household chemicals that could be made into a very effective explosive. It's impossible to prevent stupid ideas, that spring from stupid people. The only thing you can hope for is for what happened here. Other kids, 'on the ball' reported what they heard , and possibly prevented a tragedy.)
Rocker admits importing banned guns
Toronto, Canada, Mar. 17 (UPI) -- Canadian rocker John Butcher, known as Rockin' Johnie B., has pleaded guilty to importing guns destined for a Scarborough street gang member. Butcher, 62, looking disheveled, pleaded guilty to one count of failing to report goods to Canada Customs and one count of importing prohibited firearms, the Toronto Sun said Thursday. He will be sentenced April 22. Butcher has been in jail since March 22, 2004, when he was stopped at the Detroit-Windsor border with 23 guns stashed in the spare tire well of his Pontiac Sunbird.(What's the odds, that this asshole gets any kind of  'meaningful' sentence? After he gets his 'two for one' time credit, he will be back on the street within months.. This is EXACTLY the type of crime the 'Duck hunter registry' was supposed to prevent. They may have caught him, but it's highly unlikely the 'Duck hunter registry' had a hand in the capture.. Perhaps they supplied one of their infamous affidavits, that clearly defined the fact that they never heard off this guy, and his guns are not in the system (shock and awe!)
Violent New Front in Drug War Opens on the Canadian Border
This new wave of drug trafficking, with Northwest Washington and Seattle a major transit point, comes as an enormous challenge to United States law enforcement agents stationed along the often invisible northern border. They are already dealing with the threat of terrorism, the flow of immigrants and new human smuggling operations – some run by some of the Canadian criminal organizations that move the marijuana south and cash, cocaine and guns north, American and Canadian law enforcement officials say. The situation is also spotlighting sharp differences in the way the two countries deal with drug crimes, with some officials and experts on both sides of the border saying Canada’s less stringent drug laws have made it harder to stem the flow of contraband moving north and south. In British Columbia, a once-quiet province in a country that has long enjoyed a low crime rate, the murder rate has soared in the past two years, Canadian officials say, because of killings linked to warring drug gangs.

Heading South?
The list of carry-on no-noes also includes: axes and hatchets, billiard cues, bows and arrows, box cutters, caustic materials including acids, pepper spray and tear gas, darts, blasting caps, hockey sticks, ice picks, turpentine, nunchuks, paint and paint thinner, fireworks, road flares, ski poles, sling shots, baseball and cricket bats, spear guns, crowbars. The agency has also issued "tips for a secure and enjoyable winter vacation." These include:
-Arrive at the airport well before your fligght, and proceed early to security once you have checked in with your carrier. -All alcoholic beverages must be in their original container, with the commercial seal intact. Homemade wine will not be accepted as carry-on. -Pack camera film in carry-on baggage, since screening equipment used for checked baggage could damage the film. -Never falsely declare that you have a bomb in your baggage. "This is against the law and could lead to severe repercussions." (And we all know, that terrorist always declare their bombs before getting on a plane. -Be suspicious of anyone wanting to borrow a match to light the wick in their shoe. Also, if you recognize a friend on the plane named 'Jack' for christ sake, Don't yell Hi..!)
We are left numb
We now know the RCMP had been summoned to Roszko's farm on March 2 to assist with the repossession of a 2005 Ford pickup Roszko had leased from an Edmonton company. It was only then officers discovered stolen auto parts and 20 mature pot plants and initiated their fateful overnight stakeout. To the degree marijuana played a role in the RCMP's decision to guard Roszko's farm, it arguably bolsters the case for legalizing (as opposed to "decriminalizing") this relatively soft drug and then regulating and taxing it, much as alcohol is now. That way, criminals would be robbed of a lucrative enterprise and no more police officers need die enforcing such a dubious prohibition. A more pertinent issue is what the tragedy says about Ottawa's controversial national gun registry. Canadians have already shelled out more than $1 billion to license gun owners and register firearms. While law-abiding hunters, ranchers and gun collectors have, often begrudgingly, paid their fees and signed on, it's been obvious from the start that rogue criminals were never going to comply. The Mayerthorpe tragedy gives long-time critics of the firearms registry fresh ammunition. "The registry focuses on the good guys in society while criminals make a mockery of it," says Yorkton-Melville Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz. "Instead, we should spend that money on the front lines, helping police to do their job." A strong argument, to be sure, but Roszko's repeated ability to flout the law raises another top-of-mind issue: did the justice system fail us? Roszko was charged with many things, convicted of very few. The only serious jail time he did was 2 1/2 years for sexual assault before being released on mandatory parole in 2002 (typically, Roszko showed no remorse for his actions and refused to accept treatment for sexual deviance). Kim Connell, a retired RCMP corporal and now Mayerthorpe's deputy mayor, blames a triumvirate of crafty defence lawyers, plea-bargaining prosecutors and lenient judges. "The biggest problem with our system is that criminals have all the rights," says Connell. "The victims and the public have none."(What Canada seems to have, is a burgeoning 'Justice Industry'. The government passes laws, that are then interpreted by the courts, and the criminal gets the benefit. The victim? Well, the victim is left 'victimized' by both the criminal, and the Justice System. Who Gains? Well lawyers, judges, court personal, 'some' police departments(i.e. NWEST), to name a few.. As long as we have a government that punishes the victims, and the generally law abiding, MORE than it punishes the criminals, don't expect to feel safe anytime soon. )
Cops back gun registry..
Well, actually only NWEST Backs Gun Registry

Some say they think the gun registry is still valuable. That includes Edmonton Police Service Det. Rick Buckley, who's attached to the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST). Locally that's an RCMP-EPS two-person unit that traces outlaw firearms. "The registry is a start," says Buckley, noting it gives law enforcement agencies nationwide a place to begin gun-related investigations. That view is echoed by Insp. Bill Carver, NWEST's officer in charge of western operations. "It gives us a starting place if we recover a firearm," says Carver. "Then we have a person who we have to interview. "Frequently we query firearms we recover that are legally registered to Canadians. Then we find out that person has been victimized by crime, such as a break-in." Carver likens it to having a file on vehicle registrations, something that proves beneficial when dealing with a stolen car that's minus a licence plate. "It's an investigative aid for front-line policing that police members use to find out if there are firearms in the house." Other law enforcement officials obviously concur. They have accessed the national gun database more than 3.6 million times since it was launched in December 1998. The million-dollar question, though, with no real answer, is: Will a registry ever prevent another horrific crime like the recent Mountie slayings? (If the registry did not exist, stolen guns would be list on the CPIC data files. Right now, as long as the registry exists MILLIONS of guns, some of them stolen will never be reported. Why? If a person  has an unregistered firearm and someone breaks into their home and steals it, and it's reported, that person is going to become a victim for a second time. Only, this time it will be the government. So, unregistered stolen firearms are far less likely to be reported as stolen, so the owner will not be arrested and charged  under the Firearms Act. Of course NWEST is going to support this farce! It it were not for this waste of money, NWEST would not even exist. But, stop and think! A 2 BILLION dollar "Place to start" is absolutely ludicrous)
Klein ties gun law to RCMP deaths
Liberal MLA Laurie Blakeman was not impressed with Klein being drawn into the gun registry debate just as Edmonton was preparing for Thursday's national mourning service for the slain constables."What we need is gun control, not gun registration. We just think that it's a step that is unnecessary, and it does absolutely nothing to keep guns out of the hands of bad guys." He said he hopes the senseless deaths will bring back the debate over whether the billion-dollar federal gun registry is worthwhile. The registry is supposed to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and unstable people with a history of violence. But critics have long complained that law-abiding citizens who hunt are being tied up in red tape while scofflaws ignore the registry. "To try and point the finger at the federal government is not honouring the work of these men and their families, and it is using the opportunity to play politics," she said. "I thought we had all agreed that we were going to take the high road and rise above that."(It may not be politically correct, but Klein has hit the nail right on the head.. Criminals, and people who should NOT have firearms are NOT tracked by the system. The 'system' is a list of 'law abiding' hunters, target shooter, and collectors. Once you are identified as a person who should NOT have firearms, you are 'deleted' from the system.. This make no sense what-so-ever. True gun control, should be tracking, identifying and preventing those who can not or should not be in possession of firearms. In other words a "Criminal Registry". Not a "user" registry. If this had been the case with C-68, This murderer would/could  have been stopped long before he did any more harm. The problem we have in this country, is that "criminals" seem to have more rights and protection under our revolving door justice system than his or her potential victims do. Until that changes we should not expect fewer bodies anytime soon.)
4 Dead RCMP Officers, What About the Future?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but haven’t all of the gun confiscation nut bars repeatedly told us ad hominem that the reason the gun registry exists is so that those with violent criminal records, or those with proven violent behaviours wouldn’t be able to purchase a firearm? What has this registry accomplished so far? Well, everybody knows that it has been a massive boondoggle like all statist’s ideas turns out to be. A boondoggle, which has now surpassed $2 billion. We have a violent man with a violent criminal record who murdered 4 men with a firearm. The time has come to face the facts that the registry failed; otherwise this nut bar killer would never have had a firearm to begin with. You see what the anti-gun types never understood after those innocent women were shot in Montreal, was that most gun owners are law abiding citizens, and what the Michael Moore types also don’t understand is that, had the registry not been introduced in Canada, today we still would not have had shacks selling booze and guns on main street like what so many enjoy pointing out happens down south. Canada is not the United States; the culture isn’t the same, even among the gun owners in the Dominion. The registry has proven itself to be an abysmal failure once again. The time has come to abolish this expensive taxpayers burden and give the bureaucrats who run it a pair of running shoes and pink slips.(Finally people are taking notice of just what a sham the liberal's "gun control" exercise is! It was created in a knee jerk reaction to the Montreal shooting, and siphoned more than a billion dollars away from front-line policing, and crime control. It's truly unfortunate that it took the actions of yet another madman to bring the folly to the forefront. Inanimate objects do not commit crimes. Only people are capable of that, and no amount of legislation will change that fact.. Right now, the government has compiled a list of people who do not commit crimes, and their firearms that have never been involved in a crime, all the while completely ignoring everyone who has proven to be a threat with a firearm. Why? It's simple. After almost 30 years of  failed, liberal, social engineering plans, the only thing that has emerged is 'criminals' have more rights, than the law abiding. Nothing will even 'start' to change, until liberal policies are no longer governing this country. A election will be held in all likelihood within the year. Are YOU satisfied with Canada's revolving door justice system? Now that the liberals allow imprisoned criminal to vote, don't let the 'prison' vote cancel out yours. Nothing will ever happen, until CanadianS VOTE FOR CHANGE )
Callous activists exploit massacre
Tragedies all too often draw out activists who callously use the events to push their own political agendas.(not at all like The coalition for gun control 'exploiting' what seems to have become 'Marc Lapine' day in Montreal) Sadly, the murder of four Mounties in Alberta last week has been no exception. First, pro-gun proponents say the shooting of the four RCMP officers by James Roszko at his Mayerthorpe-area farm proves the controversial and costly federal gun registry is not working and should be scrapped. Similarly, one violent incident should not be allowed to undo the gun registry.(ignoring of course the "one violent incident" that caused it's creation it in the first place) Despite huge cost overruns, there is ample evidence the registry is working. Nearly 90 per cent of guns in Canada are now registered. Police around the country consult the database nearly 2,000 times a day and the vast majority of police chiefs support the registry. It is unclear if Roszko's guns were registered. But no one ever said the database would eliminate all violent crime. And for every heinous act like last week's police killings, how many more tragedies has the gun registry averted?(That's exactly the point! The Gun Registry has averted ZERO tragedies! Not This Tragedy, or the one "activists that callously used the montreal massacre", which very much INCLUDED the Toronto Star, to foist this fraud of a 'feel good' firearms act on the general public, for probably no other reason than to funnel funds to friends. For the STAR to keep spouting the liberal propaganda of 90% registered guns, and 2000 queries a day (even though no one in the government can back that up) is absolutely amazing. I was under the impression that newspapers were 'supposed' to print 'facts' not bullshit. But I guess the 'Trudeau er Toronto Star' is exempt from truthful reporting while they wave the liberal banner. Over ONE BILLION and STILL counting has been wasted on this farce patched together by government "Experts" who in fact have no ambition except to make their bureaucratic 'kingdoms' a little bigger, and fatten their paycheques. Just LOOK at all the bonuses they gave themselves at years end! Just how badly would you have to fuck up in in a liberal Government to be passed over for a bonus? There is absolutely NOTHING in the firearms act that would have prevented THIS or any other heinous act in the future. THIS is why it should be repealed, and the funds directed to registering CRIMINALS not duck hunters. )
Gun registry a 'colossal failure'
OTTAWA -- The shooting deaths of four Mounties proves the controversial gun registry is a "colossal failure," Opposition MPs charged yesterday in the House of Commons. "It is self-evident that last week's multiple murder tragedy was not in any way prevented or impeded by the gun registry, although the gun registry was brought into effect primarily to deal with precisely this kind of tragedy," said Conservative Leader Stephen Harper.  Noting there's an ongoing criminal investigation, Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan called it "unfortunate" the Opposition would draw conclusions without all the facts.  Deputy Conservative Leader Peter MacKay labelled the high-priced gun registry a "colossal failure that does not save lives."  And Harper demanded a review of the dangerous-offender label in the wake of the tragedy. (The "Gun Registry" is the sacred cow of all things 'Liberal'. The ONLY way these liberal morons will react, is the very same way 'all' liberals react, and that means 'more' nonsense gun laws. They came up with this farce by trying to fix the Older 'Working & Less Expensive' system by re-designing and 'fixing' something that wasn't broke in the first place)
Tories sit, draw fire
The budget vote: Rivals ridicule Harper after mass abstention by Conservatives
Mr. Harper said the Conservatives will challenge money allocated for the Liberals' Kyoto and childcare programs, as well as for foundations that are not accountable to Parliament. He said it would depend on the issue whether he was prepared to bring down the government over a particular item. He said he hopes the opposition can reach consensus on which programs should have their funding reduced or scrapped. New Democratic MP Pat Martin, who championed the reduction in the Governor-General's budget, said he was pleased with Mr. Harper's pledge to work with the other opposition parties to reduce spending. "I think it's safe to say there will be all-party co-operation in the opposition at the estimates level because we've flexed our muscles once and found it to be kind of exciting and I think you'll see more of that." Mr. Martin added he would support any attempt to scrap the federal gun registry. "I wouldn't want one more penny to go to that gun registry and I think there'll be interest in our party to stop that," he said. Government House Leader Tony Valeri said the government will decide which reductions to programs to treat as a matter of confidence. "We've gone through this process once before and, obviously, we saw a reduction in the [budget of the] Governor-General and the Privy Council the last time and those were not considered matters of confidence, so we'll be approaching them the same way, but we will certainly look at each and every one on its own merits," he said.(Harper is a responsible man doing a responsible thing. For Duceppe & Layton to suggest they should have brought down the government 'now' is irresponsible. Once the Conservatives have all their ducks in a row, the government WILL be brought down. It's highly unlikely the liberals will allow any funding votes for the 'gun registry; NOT to be a non confidence vote, and that's when the government will tumble.. Should be sometime in June, for a fall election.. The announcement will be like Christmas morning as a child.. I can hardly wait!)
Gun registry not the issue, supporters say
OTTAWA—Defenders of Canada's gun registry are taking its detractors to task for pointing to last week's shooting of four Mounties in Alberta as further proof the program is a failure.Wendy Cukier, a founder of the Coalition for Gun Control, called the tactics "unseemly" and said opponents are missing the point."When someone is killed by a drunk driver, people don't start calling for a repeal of our drunk-driving laws. ..(No, and they don't run around like total idiots trying to ban cars! Using Wendy 'air head' and her logic, there should be NO Asian cars on our streets at all, because in the vast majority of shootings, the bullets either come from, or the shooter drives by in, or escapes using an Asian made car of some type! Perhaps they should only ban the 'black one' No, that might resemble racism, lets ban the 'blue' ones instead.. Sound ridiculous? of course it does. It sounds just as ridiculous as tracking 'duck hunters' to eliminate crime! If you look closely at the "defenders of Canada's gun registry" they ALL have one thing in common. They financially benefit from it in one way or another . Wendy and her 1 or 2 person coalition, has received almost $500,000.00 to date. If the gun registry goes, so does her bankroll)
Liberal Plans for YOUR Future Privacy
Leading the way is the federal government's "lawful access" initiative. While the term lawful access sounds innocuous, the program, which dates back to 2002, represents law enforcement's desire to re-make Canada's networks to allow for lawful interception of private communications. If lawful access becomes reality, Canada's telecommunications service providers (TSPs) will be required to refit their networks to allow for real-time interception of communications, to have the capability of simultaneously intercepting multiple transmissions, and to provide detailed subscriber information to law enforcement authorities without a court order within 72 hours. Moreover, Canada's service providers will be subject to inspections and required to provide the government with reports on the technical capabilities of their networks. These activities will be shrouded in secrecy with service providers facing fines of up to $500,000 or sentences of up to five years in jail for failing to keep the data collection confidential.(Go Ahead keep voting liberal! Privacy will be a thing of the past)
$1B gun registry branded `useless'
Roszko — a convicted child molester whom family and neighbours described as aggressive and in a lot of emotional pain — was known by local residents and police to have guns hidden on his farm. In fact, he faced numerous firearms charges over the years, and in 1999 a bailiff who was to visit the Roszko farm was warned by RCMP to wear a bulletproof vest. Critics say Roszko shouldn't have had weapons in the first place — and, if the gun registry actually worked, wouldn't have had them."Clearly this case is further evidence that the system doesn't work," said Guy Fontaine, an Edmonton lawyer who represented Roszko on many legal matters over 15 years.Fontaine said the registry targets only responsible gun owners. "It's not one of my guns that shot the RCMP, or any of the majority of guns lawfully owned by the citizens of Canada," he said. "So the focus should be on monitoring the illegality of guns that are getting into the hands of criminals."(And 'Annie' responded with the only response the Liberals 'ever' give regarding the embarrassment of this farce: I.E. 2000 hits a day (from who they can't tell) and the 13,500 licence refusals(a 'much' lower refusal rate than under the old FAC system) .. You can no doubt see how those 'refusals' work.. I assume Roszko was 'refused' a licence.. Or perhaps, he never even tried to get one? 4 young police officers are dead. Do the liberals 'really' think a licence and registration would have saved them?)
LIBERALS’ TOTAL FOCUS ON GUNS IS MISGUIDED
Yorkton – Today, Saskatchewan M.P., Garry Breitkreuz, Conservative Firearms Critic, released an amazing analysis of Statistics Canada tables showing that the Liberal government’s preoccupation with firearms crime instead of all weapons crime is not supported by the available data.  “The Liberals have spent a decade and two billion dollars on a firearms program that ignored the statistical facts sitting right in front of their collective noses.  Only an anti-gun ideology would justify such a colossal oversight by the bureaucrats in so many departments and the politicians directing them,” exclaimed Breitkreuz.  Breitkreuz was referring to an analysis of four Statistic Canada tables sent to him this week by Professor Gary Mauser of Simon Fraser University in British Columbia .  Mauser stated: To summarize, violent crimes involving firearms result in fewer injuries (and less serious injuries) than do violent crimes involving other kinds of weapons. This pattern is the same for armed robberies and for armed assaults.(If the government REALLY wanted to 'make sure' firearm injuries remain low, they would not discourage the defensive use of a firearm. Statistics also show that using a firearm in self-defence always results in less injuries to the intended victims. Plus the fact that if the criminal KNOWS he or she may be shot by the victim in self defence, in most cases the crime never happens in the first place. Or,  the criminal runs off, and fearing retribution from our misguided justice system for even attempting to use a firearm for self defence, the potential 'crime' is never reported. Telling the police you thwarted your own death with a firearm, will only result in a search of your home, possible arrest, and the confiscation of your legally obtained firearm property. So, knowing that the criminal won't report that he was threatened with a firearm, the intended victim just keeps his mouth shut so he won't be victimized again. At least by the previous attacker )
Good Samaritan Gun Use
Only two stories mentioned that the AK-47 was a semi-automatic, not a machine gun, and, while it is understandable, none of the articles provided context by explaining that Arroyo’s weapon functioned the same as deer hunting rifles, firing the same caliber bullets, at the same rapidity, and doing the same damage.  Seems like pretty standard media coverage. But what makes this case different is that 21 percent of the news stories actually mentioned that a citizen licensed to carry a concealed weapon used his gun to try and help stop the attack.  The citizen, 50 year old Mark Wilson, was one of the two people murdered. As CNN reported, “Everyone here agrees, Wilson saved lives.” Fox News' website quoted the sheriff as saying "if it hadn't been for Mr. Wilson, [Arroyo's son] would be dead."  Wilson, a licensed concealed handgun permit holder, heard Arroyo’s shots and saw the commotion from his apartment window. He grabbed a handgun and headed toward the attacker. Arroyo had already wounded several police officers and there was no one left to prevent his rampage.(If, out of the more than 60,000 'defensive' REPORTED uses of a firearm in Canada every year, only one in four saved a life, guns would be shown to have saved 'more' lives than all lives taken that same year, by all criminal actions. Thats, also about 59,999 MORE defensive uses than news papers report a year.. I wonder why?)
Mr. Dithers withers on missile plan
If Canada was involved, you have to know the Liberals would have insisted that all missiles used for the program be built in Quebec. They would have paid billions for the weaponry, to Liberal-friendly missile firms of course.
And then, like so many other Liberal contracts, when proof would have been needed that the work was done (such as an incoming nuclear missile), there would have been nothing there. And of course, the PM, nor any Liberal cabinet ministers would know what happened to the money, and would downplay the need for a full inquiry.
Maybe if Canada was involved in the plan, our Liberal government would suggest a missile registry, which has proven so effective with guns in this country.(Canada is a defence freeloader , that started with Trudeau (the conscientious objector -coward- ) and has continued to be the ongoing defence plan of the Liberals ever since. Canadians should be ashamed! Thousands and thousands of  'brave' Canadians died in two world wars to maintain the freedom of this county, and the Liberals are only too happy to give it away just so it won't interfere with their ongoing socialist agenda. )
Over 10 000 guns handed in since start of gun amnesty
Over ten thousand guns have been handed over voluntarily to the police since the start of a gun amnesty on January 1, the Ministry of Safety and Security said today. This included 7881 licensed firearms and 2787 unlicensed weapons. Close to 5400 rounds of ammunition were also taken from the public. In a statement issued today, Minister Charles Nqakula urged the public to hand over their illegal firearms before March 31 in order to avoid prosecution. Nqakula said after the amnesty, the police will start "intensifying their operations in recovering illegal firearms and ammunition wherever they are. Institutions and individuals found in possession of such firearms or ammunition would be dealt with harshly in terms of the law."(Coupled with the fact that most people have had NO success with obtaining a firearms licence for reasons such as "You don't need one, you have a husband to protect you" , the South African prisons, and cemeteries are going to fill up pretty quickly. As in most amnesties, the guns they collect, are NOT the guns causing the problems. Those guns will be used to fill the cemeteries as soon as the rapists, thieves, and murderers Africa is so famous for, now find their a whole lot safer with their victims disarmed.)
Anti-gun activist arrested after firearm found at home
A Springfield IL woman who began lobbying against gun violence after her son was shot to death in 2002 was arrested last week when police allegedly found an illegal gun and drugs in her home. Annette "Flirty" Stevens, however, said Monday she's innocent, and the arrest is an attempt by police to get her to give up information about unsolved crime in the city. The handgun, which had a Scratched-off serial number, and drugs allegedly were discovered Friday morning inside Stevens' home in the 2500 block of South 15th Street. Authorities said they obtained a search warrant for the residence as part of an ongoing investigation of a recent series of drive-by shootings. No one has been hurt in the gunplay. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted in the search. After finding the handgun and drugs, police arrested Stevens at her job. Stevens said she believes the search warrant was obtained illegally. She said no drugs were found in her home. And as for the gun, she admits to having it in the house. But she said it belonged to her son. She didn't find it until six or seven months after he died. Not knowing what to do with it, she wrapped it up, put it in a drawer and forgot about it. Contacted later, Davis said he had no comment on Stevens' statements.(Gee!! I wonder if Wendy has any old guns in 'her' closet? In Canada, You don't 'have' to be guilty of having a illegal gun to get a 3 am 'kick your door down' visit from the SWAT team, you only have to be 'anonymously accused' of having one)
A 'Look' into the Stupidity of the Firearms Act
At 72, Jim Walsh’s hunting trips are a distant memory. It’s been about 25 years since he loaded his 12-gauge shotgun and trudged into the woods to get his moose, bird or rabbit. That’s got less to do with his age than the fact that — begrudgingly — he’s softened over the years. “I can’t hunt anymore,” the spry-sounding senior said from his St. John’s home Sunday. “You get to a stage in your life when you just can’t kill an animal, right? Jeez, I can cry now just putting a worm on a hook.” Walsh, a union rep for most of his life, says he’ll never fire his rusty rifle again, but would like to pass it down to a grandchild some day. But that won’t happen — at least not legally — unless he goes through the rigours of firearm testing like everyone else. It’s yet another “questionable” feature, says Walsh, of Canada’s new and oft-criticized gun registry, which cost taxpayers $2 billion to set up. When it was introduced in the late ’90s, Walsh went out of his way to comply, seeking out the proper forms to register his only gun. “I didn’t want to break the law sort of thing, so I sent in to register the gun … and just got in under the deadline,” he explained. Then, in January 2002, he received a cheque in the mail for $18; apparently a refund from the federal Justice Department. He never thought any more of it until last week, when he got another letter, this one telling him his gun never was registered because “you were not licensed to possess a firearm.” “I didn’t know you had to have a licence to register a gun at the time,” he said. “That was all something new to me.” Again, Walsh made the effort to contact officials. “I explained to the guy, you know, that I don’t want to have a licence for a firearm. I’m 72 years of age, and I don’t hunt anymore. “But I do want to hold on to the gun I’ve owned for a few decades.” Limited options The official was unflappable, telling Walsh he had two options: go through the license testing and then apply to have the gun registered, or destroy the firearm. “But I don’t want to do that. It’s an old rifle, you know, and I’ve got grandchildren that I might want to pass it down to,” he said. “It’s all really crazy. I either destroy it or I’m a criminal. “So, I’m in possession of a gun which they won’t register because I don’t have this licence to possess. I’ve had this gun for half a lifetime, but suddenly it’s not legal.”(THIS is exactly why the Liberals are WRONG when they tell you over 90% of guns are registered. In actuality, less than 30% are registered. Firearms will STILL be passed from father/grandfather to child/grandchild in spite of liberals paranoia about firearms. It's time to STOP the insanity, STOP making criminals out of ordinary people for simply wanting to keep family heirlooms. As far as I'm concerned the Federal government has NO rights to ANY property UNLESS its used in a crime.)
Wisdom from the garden
Leonard Lee and his wife, Lorraine, deploy those tools to grow everything from peas to 140-kg pumpkins on their 30-hectare farm near Ottawa. He remains self-deprecating, feisty, a policy wonk who was a founding member of the prestigious Public Policy Forum and an ongoing federal critic. When costs for the hapless gun registry skyrocketed, he dourly observed that his firm already had the perfect software to service millions of orders. ("Their system was just insane.") And when a handful of rogue MPs slammed U.S. foreign policy in scathingly personal terms last year, he watched his sales flatten with outspoken alarm -- because 25 per cent is shipped south. "I never wanted free trade," he says. "But we are now locked tightly into that economy. Why such anti-Americanism?"(Stupid comments by Liberal Politicians, have cost Canadian Business MILLIONS, and Canadian workers jobs.  Since September 11, 2001. I personally have watched my American sales peter out to virtually nothing, and are just starting to come back. Liberals have not only damaged Canada from the inside, but now due to our irrelevance on the world stage, we may be permanently damaged on the outside as well.)

Another Government Money Pit

It’s time for Canadians to be afraid…very afraid. Our minority Liberal government has decided to set aside five billion dollars for a national day care program. Let’s see. When the Liberal government set aside two million for the gun registry costs spiraled so far out of control they still haven’t been determined and we’re closing in on a two billion dollar bill for a program that hasn’t saved a life and is far from working properly. That is the big problem with our society today. Because of government interference in our lives we’re paying more and more to help others and get less to help ourselves. We couldn’t afford to have seven kids and few people today can thanks to the onerous tax burden on all Canadians. We also made a concious decision to have more than one child and never received a penny of government money to pay for a baby sitter even though we were eligible. Now we’re going to be asked to pay to raise other people’s kids. This national day care system is an idiotic idea which will only become another government money eating machine. It also will become an indoctrination centre, one that will perpetuate the idea that the government can raise your child better than you. Five billion dollars!! Right. This is shaping up to be a disaster that will make the gun registry look like a bargain.(Well, lets see!!! Who keeps voting these assholes back into power time and time again? It's the "urban yuppie" with the SUV's and all the kids wearing $100.00 sneakers thats who! It's the folks that are too busy holding down two or more jobs to raise there own children, so up pops another segment of the 'nanny state'. We'll indoctrinate er.. look after your children for you! After all , who better than the Liberals to get first crack at educating your children to the ways of the 'forever dependant', urban 911 calling , itsy bitsy spider infested , deluded inhabtants of the Fisherprice/Disney Land world of alternate realities eh?)
CSI Shutdown
News that the RCMP is shutting down its Edmonton forensic science lab is ringing alarm bells in police services in and around the city. The Edmonton Police Service wants to know how the closure might affect the speed with which RCMP scientists can return forensic reports on crime exhibits. "We're not sure at this point if it means status quo or things getting worse," said Insp. Brad Ward of the EPS Crimes Against Persons section. "One thing that concerns us is a lack of direct local access to (forensic) specialists." "You'd think they could have picked something else to cut," said Const. Bob Grant of the Camrose Police Service. "We depend on that service to do our jobs." "They closed down the evidence recovery units in Edmonton and Regina in 2003 and centralized them in Ottawa," he said. "So police services in those regions lost that local expertise. "The backlog of DNA tests gets longer every year, because they won't invest the resources into getting it done. The trend is toward centralizing everything in Vancouver and Ottawa - we're going to be in huge trouble if we have to deal with a huge disaster like a terrorist attack." Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz has been pressuring the RCMP over its backlog of DNA tests, which he said grew from 752 to 1,217 over 2004. He said the federal government is starving police forensic services and putting investigations at risk. "Meanwhile, they've got a billion-dollar-plus gun registry that doesn't work and they haven't cut its funding by one nickel," he said. "It makes no sense at all." (I'm beginning to wonder, if the Liberals receive under the table funding from organized crime? Think about it.. Their cutting back on all aspects of crime control, from forensics to the cops on the street. They have spent almost 2 billion dollars making sure that criminals will have as little resistance, or chance of injury  as possible when breaking into your home, or robbing your business. By the systematic disarming of a large segment of the population, by controlling duck hunters under the guise of crime/gun control,  they have made it 'politically incorrect' to defend your home and family with appropriate force. We have the most obvious 'revolving door justice system' in the entire world. Our justice system favours the criminal MORE than the victim. Our "Youth Justice Act" virtually assures that 'convicted' teenage criminals, or murderers can live right next door to your family, and you are not allowed to know. They gave us 'Concurrent'  sentencing, allowing criminals to commit as many crimes as they can, yet the punishment rarely increases beyond what ever 'lessor' crime they plea bargained the government for. And to top all this off, They gave criminals in prison, the right to vote! In ANY other situation, this much 'coincidence' would be considered collusion. Feel Safer Yet?)
PROOF: Martin is a MORON
OTTAWA - Prime Minister Paul Martin said Canada must be consulted before the U.S. decides to fire on missiles that enter Canadian airspace, despite Ottawa's refusal to participate in America's missile defence program. "I don't think that anyone expected that there would be any other finger on a button than the Americans," Martin said Friday, a day after his decision not to join the program. "But in terms of Canadian airspace, yes we would expect to be consulted. This is our airspace. We're a sovereign nation. And you don't intrude on a sovereign nation's airspace without seeking permission," Martin said. (Give me a break!!! Does Martin 'really' think that if the U.S.A. detects a missile entering Canadian Airspace, on route to American Soil, that Bush is going to call 'Mr. Dithers', 'ask permission', and then wait for him to see which way the 'political' wind is blowing, before taking out the missile? If Martin thinks, that this is the reality, then there is no doubt about it.. The man is a outright MORON.. The Americans will do whatever is in their best interest, and I would suspect shooting down a missile headed for them over 'whatever' airspace, would be in their best interest.. Ours too by the way. Martin the Moron, may be just too stupid to be in charge after all!)
