GUN CONTROL:
The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.

A Mans Home Invaded and RIGHTS suspended for sending 'harsh' email to Liberal Mcguinty
KITCHENER, ONT. -- A "disturbing, harshly worded" e-mail sent to Premier Dalton McGuinty has resulted in 11 charges against a man from Cambridge, Ont., after a police search of his home revealed a weapons cache.(?) Jack Carleton, 37, seemed confused as he appeared briefly in a Kitchener courtroom yesterday. Officers seized 82 firearms, 79 of which were registered handguns. Police also seized a crossbow and two marijuana plants. Mr. Carleton's partner, Sherry Halfyard, said in an interview after the court appearance that Mr. Carleton is a gun collector who works as a robotic programmer at a Cambridge plant. She said she was "shocked" to learn of the charges. No charges have been laid regarding the e-mail as it did not contain any death threats or threats to cause bodily harm, Staff Sgt. Larkin said yesterday. CP(There you have it! for the 'crime' of sending 'only' a "harshly worded email" to premiere McYuppy, this man has had his rights revoked, his home invaded, his property stolen, his livelihood damaged, and charges laid. I would hope that if ANYONE was shocked at these charges it was because not only are they totally unjust, but what kind of a judge signs a search warrant, and suspends a persons rights, only because of a "harshly worded email" to a unpopular politician? I don't know what the hell Mr. Carlton said in that email, but you can bet your ass that a majority Ontario would agree with him!)
Grit campaign irony
The Liberals have tried to disarm law-abiding people with a futile and ludicrously expensive gun registry, but simultaneously left powerful weapons in the hands of criminals. Just to make things look a little better, the law-abiding people who were reluctant to give up their guns were charged by the police, thus making them criminals themselves. So the government could say the criminals were, in truth, being disarmed. Clever, eh? While enormous amounts of tax dollars were being spent turning good citizens into criminals, the real criminals were using guns and shooting and killing people in ever greater numbers. Confused? You're supposed to be.
Paul Martin says he believes in a pluralistic, multicultural Canada but he and his people made sure the Liberals did not elect a young man of colour as national president. This gifted individual had been raised in a poor Toronto neighbourhood by his grandparents, and against all the odds had excelled at one of the finest universities in the world.  Instead, the Martin gang obliged people at the party conference to vote in the early hours so as to elect a safe, white, middle-class lawyer. Some of these wretched types were still in their pajamas! It's alleged that people were told they had no chance of a career in Ottawa if they didn't vote for the leader's candidate. (And 'this' is the man that says he's going to fix the democratic deficit.. How? This has been discussed all over the web and via letters to the editor of several papers... First things first.. You have to get rid of democracy.. No democracy, no deficit.. This government has slowly removed rights, one by one, from Canadian citizens since their first term in power, the latest is the liberal 'gag' law. How can a man that won't even fly the Canadian Flag on his own ships, call himself patriotic? Perhaps he thinks the word is a 'contraction' of patronize, and idiotic? It's the only thing that make sense!)
MacKay calls for end of gun registry program
Conservative Party deputy leader Peter MacKay wants to scrap the costly federal gun registry system, and says the money spent to register firearms could go towards better police protection. "A sex offender registry would have a far greater impact of protecting communities, particularly children," he said on the campaign trail in Nova Scotia Sunday. MacKay points to the registry's price tag, now in excess of $1 billion. "The CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) system itself could have been upgraded. Twelve-thousand new police officers could have been hired." Liberal candidate Susan Green, running against MacKay in the Nova Scotia riding of Pictou-Antigonish-Guysborough, told ATV News the reforms are "already in place and on their way."
She pointed to the registration program as a way to support the police and to protect Canadians in an uncertain world. "We're going to support our police chiefs," Green said, "and we are going to do everything we can in this dangerous international situation to keep Canadians safe in their own communities."(I'm sure, all the families of those innocent victims that have been 'shot' to death in their own communities know this is nothing but liberal bullshit.. Other than the pact they have made with the United Nations to 'disarm' all law abiding citizens, they have no other excuse for this farce. The number of lives that 'could' have been saved if this billion + dollars had been spent on 'real' public safety, or health care is staggering. The sad part is 'that' money is gone, the liberals have totally wasted it, and they 'want' to waste even more. They 'will' be stopped come June 28th)
Martin team tries to renew flagging momentum
Heading into week two of the federal election campaign, Paul Martin's Liberals are desperate to shake the perception the party is losing momentum. Responding to longtime Liberal Brian Tobin's weekend admission his party would likely be headed for a minority if the vote were held forthwith, party strategist Tim Murphy scoffed. "Ridiculous," Murphy said during a Canada AM panel Monday morning. "I think we're quite pleased with how the week has gone." Any suggestion that minority murmurs, alienation of Chretien loyalists or sniping from within party ranks is dragging Martin's campaign down are beside the point, Murphy said. "I don't actually think Canadians care about the horse race. I think they care about the policies and the leader."(Yesterday, after having 'two' conservitive election signs  placed on my property (one  on each side) I took a drive around 'York/Simcoe' and the new separate area of Barrie.. I have seen a total of  two (2) houses sporting 'liberal' signs. I's a sea of blue in 'this' part of Ontario.. Now, either the liberals are slow at getting their signs up, or Paul Martin is in for one hell of a shock come June 28th.. If it's a 'minority' government, it won't be a 'liberal' minority government!)
PM waffles on AdScam paybacks
MONTREAL (CP) - The Liberal party won't necessarily reimburse funds tainted by the sponsorship scandal until after the federal election campaign, Prime Minister Paul Martin hinted Wednesday.  The sponsorship torment followed the prime minister home to Quebec during a campaign stop where he and provincial organizer Jean Lapierre faced questions about the scandal in a province where outrage with the Liberals has been especially palpable.  Martin refused to answer when asked whether his party would reimburse before the June 28 election any of the estimated $650,000 received from a handful of advertising firms linked to the scandal. (If Paul Martin 'somehow' wins a majority in this election, Canadian will NEVER see their money back. If the Liberals Lose! The Liberal Party should be sued by the government for restitution, and punitive damages. Perhaps even a few of them 'should' serve some time for 'fraud' or embezzlement!)
What Sheila showed us
A 'liberal culture' of deception and fraud!

"We have tried to understand how the program was established from the very beginning, but we have not been able to understand that," Fraser said. It was never right. That's why Fraser, when she was called back to the parliamentary committee "investigating" AdScam on May 3, was emphatic about correcting the media's constant references to the siphoned $100 million -- the entire $250 million was in question, she said.
The program was "suspect" from stem to stern. We have to conclude its supposed purpose -- to promote Canada in Quebec years after the last referendum -- was not only ill-conceived, but was an abominable sham.
Armed with this awareness, suddenly the incomprehensible waste, the ineffectiveness, the false claims and irrational defences of so many federal initiatives take on a disturbing new dimension. Look at the reviled gun registry. Canadians have smelled a rat on this one for years but figured the feds bungled it out of their usual incompetence, getting tied politically to an urban "motherhood" issue without understanding its full complexity.
Now we have to wonder whether the registry itself was ever important to the people who set it up -- whether all that mattered was creating a billion-dollar (or maybe $2 billion) opportunity to screw the taxpayer. (For years and years the taxpayers have been screwed by these political opportunists, embezzlers, scam artist, and liberal politicians. It has to stop NOW.. June 28th 'should' be the last day in power for this government. When Trudeau was booted from office by 'Joke Lark' the paper shedders worked overtime disposing of 'evidence?' There will be no difference this time, If you own a paper shredding company in Ottawa, your gonna be rich!)
Conservative candidate blasts Liberals over gun registry
The federal gun registry will be a pivotal issue in the federal election, despite the Liberal government's recent adjustments to the controversial program, according to Nunavut's Conservative Party candidate. Duncan Cunningham, the territory's first candidate under the merged Conservative party banner, took direct aim at the gun registry after the federal government announced on May 20 that gun owners no longer have to pay for their licence and registration. Cunningham's opposition joins a chorus of Nunavut politicians, who have attacked the gun registry for years, arguing that the Firearms Act violates the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. Article five of the treaty guarantees Inuit the right to subsistence hunting without the need for a licence.(The 'Requirement' of ANYONE to buy a licence and register their own legally obtained personal property, for no other reason than just to continue owning it,  is distasteful and wrong. THIS is why the Liberals will lose this election 'everywhere')
Conservatives air election ad spoofing 'wasteful' government spending
"Strategic use of repetition is also used to achieve persuasion. Stacks of money. Bags of wasted money. Scandals, boondoggles and secrecy. These themes are reinforced by the repetitive droning of the 'Carousel' organ music playing in the background. The amusement park music is used to mock and parody the incumbent party while providing an affective charge to the message and hinting that the carnivalesque spending will continue unless there is change." - Michael S. Mulvey, assistant professor of marketing, University of Ottawa, and president, Uncommon Sense Inc., a marketing consultancy firm.  Opposition Reaction: "Typical of Stephen Harper - an American-inspired attack. This is consistent with what we have come to expect from him. Does he ever speak of his policies?" - John Webster, Liberal campaign co-chair. (The Liberals are so involved in painting Harper as Non Canadian, they push forth the message that political waste IS Canadian because the liberals have been wasting your money for the last ten years, and they 'keep' getting voted back in, so they MUST be right, and they MUST be demonstrating accepted Canadian 'values'.. And 'this' sound perfectly logical to 'them'! What about YOU?)
Terror suspects no threat to Canada: Martin
WINNIPEG - Prime Minister Paul Martin says Canada faces no threat from seven suspects wanted by the FBI in connection with a suspected al-Qaeda terror plot in the United States. Martin made the comments Wednesday on board his election campaign jet, while flying from Montreal to Winnipeg.  "Canadians…can feel very confident that the matter is in hand and there is no threat leveled against Canada," said Martin. (For terrorists to be a threat to Canada, Canada would have to be a threat to the terrorists.. Hell, The liberals have already given two of them Citizenship, what more could they ask for.. What Canadians 'should' be asking is: Why do two 'known' terrorists HAVE Canadian Citizenship? Why has it NOT been revoked? Is Martin waiting for an attack on CSL? Not likely, Martins Ship Line is NOT registered in Canada (to avoid taxes), and does not employ Canadian Seamen (To avoid health and safety rules), It only feeds off the Canadian economy like any other 'sanctioned' parasite.. )
Amnesty slams 'blind pursuit' of security
LONDON - Canada is one of the countries sacrificing human rights in the name of stepped-up national security, Amnesty International said in its annual report Wednesday. The human rights group said the "blind pursuit of security" that began after Sept. 11, 2001 has produced the most sustained attack on human rights in half a century. Several governments have introduced "regressive" anti-terrorist legislation, including Spain, France and Uzbekistan, the report said. Amnesty singled out Canada for holding at least five men alleged to pose a risk to national security. They were detained on "security certificates" that allow them to be held without charge and denied full access to the evidence against them. Amnesty also mentioned the case of Maher Arar, a Canadian citizen of Syrian origin who was deported from the U.S. to Syria in 2002.  The U.S.-led war on terror has given governments in "virtually every corner of the world" an excuse to abuse human rights, said Alex Neve, secretary general of Amnesty International Canada.  It's a trend now "firmly established on the global-political agenda," Neve said. "Many [governments] are using it as a pretext for persecution of ethnic groups."(Canada, under the Liberals have more of a 'blind pursuit of stupidity' than anything else.  If a dollar can be shaken from a taxpayers pocket, then given to a 'liberal friendly' security company, that's the plan..  But, before you can remove too many rights, and increase public dependence on the government for safety and security, the population must first be disarmed and discouraged from feeling they can defend themselves without going to prison. 'sound familiar'? It should!)
Government betrays hunters, farmers and firearm owners and taxpayers
OTTAWA - Despite a repeated commitment that “everything is on the table” by Associate Minister of Defence Albina Guarineri, a firearms user appointed by Prime Minister Paul Martin to review the firearms legislation, it is clear from the May 20 announcement, that the government’s promises to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and others amounted to nothing more than preelection window dressing. “When Minister Guarineri was appointed to review the firearms legislation, the outdoor community took her at her word and worked with her in good faith,” said Mike Reader OFAH executive director. “However, despite the Minister's promises to firearms owners across the country that they would be pleased with the results of the review, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Anne McLellan, one of the chief architects of this failed system, Minister Guarineri, and the entire Cabinet sold us a false bill of goods. “Despite promises to the contrary, the government strung us along and produced nothing of substance to fix this hugely expensive, unnecessary and mistake prone system. Considering that this same government promised that the registry would cost taxpayers no more than $2 million, a figure that has been exceeded by 500 percent, their promise to cap the annual expenditure oh the registry at $25 million is laughable.”  Over the last year, no less than 10 regional and national public opinion polls have clearly indicated that a majority of Canadians favored a scrapping of the firearms registry for long guns. (Most critics of this farce 'predicted' that this was another exercise in futility. The Government has gone through all the motion several times before, and then ignored all the findings in favour of what they wanted to do all along. Liberal MP Roger Gallaway hit the nail right on the head regarding his governments approach to this farce "This is beyond disingenuous. This is deceitful in the worst way. And it's all driven by a bunch of zealots.". And the man is absolutely correct! To quote a certain Prime Minister, "A small band of rogue bureaucrats is responsible" Their are people with power in this government, that are in serious need of mental therapy. Irrational fears and paranoia do not go away by themselves, and always need treatment. The first step on the road to recovery is to admit your problem and come to grips with it. There are people that can help you, seek them out. Just because their 'your' fears, does not mean there 'rational'. There is a much. much higher chance that the car coming toward you on a two lane road will purposely swerve into your lane and kill you..It happens every couple of days.. How do you handle 'this' fear? Think about it! Get help!)
Singapore lifts 12-year chewing gum ban
But while the law has been relaxed, gum chewing is still tightly controlled in the affluent enclave.
Those wanting to indulge the decadent habit will have to give their names and produce identification. And gum will continue to be available only at pharmacies. Pharmacists selling to customers without identification could be jailed for up to two years and fined nearly $3,000 US.  "It's ridiculous that it's easier for 16-year-olds to visit prostitutes than it is to get chewing gum here," a student told the Associated Press. (Not only 'that' they now have the unique experience of  'Experimenting' with Sex, AND Gum control.. Will their chewing gum really lose it's flavour on the bedpost over night?.. At my age, combining the two will only result in a piece of ass that sticks to the roof of my  dentures!)
Mystery substance on quarantined bus harmless
VANCOUVER - A suspicious brown substance believed to have made riders on a Vancouver bus sick on Tuesday was found to be nothing more than pine cones mixed with mud and spices, according to police Dozens of people were quarantined in hospital after the discovery of what was at first thought to be phosphine, an explosive industrial gas used in making flame retardants and grain pesticide. A hazardous materials team cordoned off the transit bus and removed the substance. But while the material turned out to be harmless, the bus driver and two paramedics remain in hospital sick on Wednesday morning. Their symptoms were not described.(Wow!! If these people 'ever' leave the city, their in 'big' trouble! Why simply stepping in a single cow flop could eat their legs off, right to the knees..hahahaha)
Lies, Damn Lies, & Liberal Lies..
All the Same Thing

"Paul Martin said there was no new money for health two months ago. All of a sudden, he tells us he has billions of dollars in new money for health. What happened? Did Paul Martin's government win the mother of all lotteries? No, he called an election," Harper said in a speech to a boisterous crowd of about 300 supporters in Fredericton. "For 10 years, (Paul Martin) chose his priorities: First they were cuts and downloading, then they were waste and scandal, then they were dithering and delay. Health care wasn't his priority two months ago, how do we know it will be his priority two months from now?"(After being responsible for the largest health care cuts in the countries history, Paul Martin 'now' expects us to believe him when he says he has all this 'magical money'! It's not Magical, it's been hidden from taxpayers for the sole purpose of buying votes from the 'gullible' during an election. "I won't raise your taxes" is a bald faced lie. It was a lie from Mcguinty, and it IS a lie from Martin. There has NEVER been a Liberal Government ANYWHERE in this country (probably the world) that has NOT raised taxes during a mandate. If it's not taxes, then it will be user fees, licence increases, and everything else he can think of.. After all, it was HIS advisor that 'advised' Dalton McGuinty! Do you 'really' think living under 'another' liberal dictatorship is going to make your life better? If you do, your about as stupid as they come!)
Martin promises billion dollar health-care boost
(Using the 8 Billion he 'took' from health care in 95, he now plans to buy your vote with your own money!)
His plan includes the following offers of funding to the provinces:  $3 billion in each of the next two years. $4 billion for a national fund to reduce waiting times, $2 billion for a national home-care program, $2 billion over five years for specific priorities like intensive care and mental illness. The Liberals would also create up to 1,000 new places for students in medical schools and push for faster recognition of foreign medical qualifications. (But 'wait' a minute!!! This is NOT 'liberal money' this is OUR money. Equivalent to the 8 Billion stripped from health care in the 90's, + interest. AND, because it's OUR money, and not 'liberal money' as they seem to feel all of 'our' money is! ANY party that wins this election could do exactly the same thing with OUR money! Typical Liberal Arrogance.. Tax Money is 'their' money, and they can use it to buy YOUR vote!! THIS is the primary reason these bastards will be kicked out come June 28th.. This government couldn't financially arrange, and  manage a chorus of farts in a bean factory, and they have proven this time and time again.. Some may 'think' Stephen Harper is 'scary' (for what reason I'll never understand)  He's a 'scandal free'  Economist, NOT a Tax Dodging Ship Owner, with financial and personal ties to Power Corp. Martin thinks your Money IS HIS money, and Liberals will say ANYTHING-DO-ANYTHING to remain at the trough.. Just Ask Dalton! It's probably true! This amount of money CAN be spent on Health care.. But do YOU trust the Liberals not to waste MOST of it? Do YOU trust the Liberals NOT to give most of it to friends in the Health care Business for 'consulting fees'? Martins own Doctor owns a string of  MRI Clinics. Probably one of the reasons we got a gun registry instead of 235 MRI Machines!)
Our un-Canadian PM
Paul Martin, who used to boast about being able to simultaneously cut taxes, reduce the deficit and spend more on social programs, now says it's crazy to even think such a combination possible." None of which really means that voting for Martin is un-Canadian. It just means that the Liberals, given AdScam, the gun registry fiasco, the Human Resources boondoggle, and so on and so on, obviously don't have much confidence in their own record. And so they're doing what they do best -- painting anyone who disagrees with thhem as un-Canadian. That said, this is a democracy and it is not un-Canadian to vote for Martin and the Grits. Dumb, yes. Unpatriotic, no. (Fortunately for the 'right', most are wise to the fact that  Paul Martin plans to win this election the same way Dalton McGuinty won in Ontario. He's going to lie through his teeth!)
Yup! Everybody Loves Annie..And Other Western Liberal Delusions..
Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan, who along with MP David Kilgour carries the Liberal banner in Alberta, is preparing for what could be her fourth close election. "Hey, I've won three times, so I'm confident," McLellan said. "But, as we know, you get out, you work for every vote, you don't take the voters for granted, whether that is me or any other candidate." In 2000, McLellan won her Edmonton West riding over the Canadian Alliance candidate by just over 700 votes. And the Liberal party has been getting a rough ride in the province, with issues like the so-called sponsorship scandal and the gun registry.(Annie 'Landslide' Mclellan has NEVER won an election. She has simple been the 'default' candidate who reaped the benefits of right wing vote splitting.. This is now over.. And thankfully so will Ms. McLellan's career in politics..)
Tough times for the PMO, Gallaway ORDERED not to criticize Gun Registry Changes
Just before 8 o'clock on Thursday morning, the Prime Minister's chief of staff, Tim Murphy, placed a call to an Ontario MP. Mr. Murphy, according to Liberal sources, informed the MP that Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan was about to announce changes to the $1-billion gun registry. The MP had been a critic of it for years.
But this wasn't just a heads-up. Mr. Murphy was calling to tell the MP not to criticize the announcement as inadequate. "Keep quiet about it," an insider said Mr. Murphy told the MP. And with that, the MP had just experienced a taste of the Martin PMO — a sometimes heavy-handed shop that seems to run on equal parts of tension, anxiety, bravado and testosterone.(Now its probably no secret at all that the MP beng called was Roger Gallaway, one of the few Liberal MP's that have seen through this farce from the very beginning. But this certainly does show how much "Democratic Renewal" there will be under Paul Martin! I'm sure Mr Gallaway is in a lot of hot water right now, because it didn't "keep quiet" and said what had to be said. He will no doubt be politically punished by this "new" government, which really has no idea of how large the democratic deficit really is. There going to find out on June 28th..)
Do we need more ammo?
Regardless of the polls, what makes this federal election different from the recent past is the uncertainty about which party will win.  To put it another way, Stephen Harper's Conservatives think they have a real chance. Jack Layton's New Democrats think they can garner more than the record 43 seats that Ed Broadbent got. The Liberals, bless them, hope that despite their gaffes and deceits Canadians will vote on cue for them.  All may be right.  The latest Martin ploy to win the party votes is unleashing that weapon of mass misconception, Anne McLellan, to announce plans to fix the gun registration boondoggle.  Anne McLellan, as deputy PM as well as minister of public safety and security, can be counted upon to defend the indefensible.  $1B already wasted  She wants to tinker with the stupid, unworkable Gun Registration Act that makes criminals out of honest folk who neglect to register (or surrender) their shotguns and deer rifles.  Fiddling with the legislation (like capping funding at $25 million per year) won't salvage a program that was designed to cost $2 million and which has already wasted $1 billion.  The way to fix gun registration is to end it.  Admit error and dump the program which hasn't worked from its inception, and has caused the feds to fudge figures on the numbers of guns, and owners of guns, in Canada. (As usual, the Liberals ignored most of the legitimate problems with this farce, and tinkered around with only a few changes here and there. Why did they even bother with another "report" on this farce, they had no intentions of using any information it uncovered unless it fit the liberal agenda as usual. Even the fact they called and 'ordered' a usually outspoken liberal critic of the gun farce to 'keep quiet', gives more insight into what Paul Martins government is all about than 'anything' the opposition could uncover.)
Author of gun-registry reforms surprised by changes
Guarnieri learned of overhaul on TV news
The cabinet minister in charge of revamping the controversial $1-billion gun registry was not part of key meetings and decisions leading up to yesterday's announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan, highlighting the divisions within cabinet and the haste in which the new package of changes was drawn. Several caucus sources said Civil Preparedness Minister Albina Guarnieri, author of the package, was never informed that Ms. McLellan was poised to announce major changes to the registry.  She discovered there was to be an announcement late Wednesday night, when she heard it on the television news, sources said. Ms. McLellan's announcement reflected only a part of what Ms. Guarnieri brought to the cabinet table, sources said. For example, a controversial recommendation to move the registry from a stand-alone agency into another department or agency, such as the RCMP, in order to save costs was not announced yesterday. As well, according to sources, Ms. Guarnieri had recommended decriminalizing registry offences. This was also not reflected in Ms. McLellan's announcement. Although Ms. Guarnieri did the work, Ms. McLellan was the lead minister on the issue.  Treasury Board President Reg Alcock was with Ms. McLellan yesterday in Edmonton. Both ministers said the changes did not have anything to do with a federal election call expected on Sunday .“I'm pissed off,” said an Ontario MP from a rural riding. “They've left this to the eleventh hour and 59th minute. They're announcing something without any feedback from those of us who have been vocal about this thing. And they seem to have the wheels spinning …”.(Another prime liberal example of going though all the 'show' of asking for input, and doing a 'study'  only to ignore most of the findings because they don't reflect the views of the current liberal dictatorship, and then, they do what ever in the hell they planned to do all along anyway. This has been the way they have done it, and no one should be surprised that public opinion was once again ignored by this arrogant government which has been in power far too long! As for Ms (Land Slide Annie) McLellan? Live it up now woman, the voters say you ain't going to be in government much longer! The REAL Farce of course is 'keeping' this farce in the criminal code, but ALWAYS refusing to prosecute ANYONE under the firearms act for fear the courts WILL rule the whole thing unconstitutional.. IT HAS TO BE TESTED IN COURT! OR IT 'IS' UNCONSTITUTIONAL.)
Too little, too late on the gun registry
Treasury Board President Reg Alcock performed a feat of superhuman strength yesterday: he kept a straight face while declaring that a key Liberal objective is "to ensure that Canadians' tax dollars are managed wisely." This required superhuman strength because he was talking about the gun registry. Or should we say the infamous gun registry? For it's hard not to invoke an emotive adjective -- typical ones are "notorious" or "absurd" -- when discussing the gun registry. Thiis misplaced effort at gun control may well be the biggest public-policy failure of the last decade. Introduced in 1995, the registry was supposed to cost $2 million. In reality, the total cost is expected to surpass $1 billion by next year. Auditor General Sheila Fraser nearly had an aneurysm two years ago when she discovered that bureaucrats had neglected to keep Parliament informed about the cost overruns.  It's downright insulting that, just before an expected election call, the Liberals suddenly acknowledge that it's time to bring "sound management practices" to the gun registry. And what are those new practices? Most notably, the government will cap at $25 million what it spends annually on the registry. Guess that's better than the $48 million that was spent in fiscal 2001-02. Still, imagine how many MRIs and heart surgeries those millions could buy.(The worst part is, that if they actually 'win' this election, the virtually unattainable 25 m 'cap' will never happen.. The have NEVER been able to control spending, and they NEVER will.. As long as there are Liberal 'friends' with their hands out, the taxpayer will NEVER get relief from this bunch. Remember, the 'latest' finding show that 99% of all contracts awarded (rewarded) by the liberal gun registry were never tendered, never tracked, and never justified.. And MOST of that money will never seen the light of day..)
Smells like a federal election
It was a day of big-ticket announcements, of politicians posing for pictures before scenic backdrops, and of press releases emanating in rapid fire from each party war room in a cacophonous symphony of partisan blasts. Prime Minister Paul Martin didn't bother waiting for the required visit to the Governor General's residence where he's expected to make the June 28 election date official this Sunday afternoon. He flung himself into the campaign with gusto Thursday, starting with a $125-million spending announcement on Toronto's waterfront with the city skyline as a backdrop. Nipping at Martin's heels was NDP Leader Jack Layton, who arrived at the waterfront in a campaign bus half an hour later for his own news conference. He dismissed the Liberal promise as a "gimmick" and wondered aloud what happened to the $500 million the federal Liberals promised three years ago but never delivered. The promises to eliminate registration fees and cap annual expenses at $25 million don't go far enough - the billion-dollar program should be scrapped, the Conservatives said. "Let's face it. The Liberals love this thing," the Opposition statement said of the gun registry. "It's big. It costs a lot of money. And it goes well with their penchant for telling Canadians how to live their lives." (The liberals main platform is the same one used by McGuinty in Ontario.. Say and promises whatever the hell you think will get you elected, It doesn't mater 'what', never take your eyes of the goal: 'power' at any cost! I wonder 'if' that 125 million promised to Toronto is 'on top' of the previous 500 million they never delivered.. One thing for sure, they enjoy grandiose announcements, re-announcements, and re-re-announcements of financial support, but the cash NEVER appears. I guess you just have to be part of their "funds for friends" campaign!)
Gun-registry changes announced
Ottawa announced its anticipated changes to the gun registry, including tougher penalties for gun crime, on Thursday. Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan and Treasury Board president Reg Alcock were in Edmonton to make the announcement, days before the predicted election call and on the heels of the Conservative platform pledging to eliminate programs and policies such as the gun registry that its says “waste money.” The move to target gun-toting criminals and not “law-abiding citizens” is designed to garner support pre-election in Western and rural Canada. Funding for the registry will be capped at $25-million a year, starting next fiscal year. The cost of the registry is currently $33-million, down from $48-million in 2001/2002. The Deputy Prime Minister has proposed a separate vote beginning in 2005/2006 to allow Parliament to enforce the budget cap. The Globe and Mail reported Thursday that the registry was originally slated to cost only $2-million, but the Auditor-General estimated that it will have cost $1-billion by 2005. Gun-registry fees will be reduced and eliminated to encourage compliance with licensing. Registration fees range in cost from $18 to $25.  “The government of Canada is committed to gun control as an important element of public safety,” said Ms. McLellan, also the minister for public safety and emergency preparedness. “The cap on costs and the improvements reflect our commitment to ensuring the system is efficient and cost-effective.”  Registration costs will be decreased by improving telephone answering services, on-line registration, and switching to lower-cost paper certificates from plastic certificates.(They have been using cheap paper certificates for a couple of years now. What do they plan to do now? Rubber stamp them onto toilet paper... Same old crap, same old government, same old bullshit..Are YOU Impressed enough to vote Liberal? I didn't think so )
Ottawa to announce gun-registry changes affecting fees, costs
OTTAWA -- The federal government plans to announce a package of changes to the controversial gun registry today, including a commitment to cap annual costs and eliminate fees. Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan, who is responsible for the package, is to make the announcement this morning in her home city of Edmonton, accompanied by Treasury Board President Reg Alcock.  The gun registry has dogged the Liberals since its inception, especially in Western Canada, where the party is hoping to gain seats in the election expected in June. Ms. McLellan, who faces an uphill battle to retain her riding, has been the target of registry protests.
The changes would include the elimination of registration and transfer fees-- although that won't be retroactive, CBC reported last night. Under the registry's complex system of fees, charges to register a weapon range from $18 to $25. Police officers can also expect increased public-safety measures to deal with gun crime and a streamlining of the process.  The Globe and Mail reported yesterday that a package to revamp the $1-billion registry has been before cabinet for more than a month, stalled by differences of opinion among ministers. A last-minute push has been under way in recent days, however, to get agreement on changes before the election, expected to be called on Sunday for June 28. (There they go again.. They think the only opposition to this farce is the fees.. They can eliminate all the fees they want, but unless they eliminate this Liberal 'More funds for their friends' farce nothing will make any difference. The Liberals GO on June 28th...)
Opposition says sponsorship scandal extends to PMO
"What is clear is that the Liberal government hijacked the advertising-contract process and chiselled off a branch which it covertly shaped into the sponsorship program," the report states. "The secret conception of the quarter-billion fund-for-friends stands as an intentional deception of democracy." In one scathing conclusion, the joint report accuses former prime minister Jean Chrétien's office of directly influencing the flow of cash to reward friends of the Liberal party for their support. "We believe it was carried out with the participation of key members of Mr. Chrétien's government, including those now holding high positions in Mr. Martin's cabinet."(Well, of course it does. Anyone that believes anything different, is severely deluding themselves. The 'Rot' starts at the top!)
86-year-old man charged with second-degree murder
WINNIPEG - Police in Winnipeg have charged an 86-year-old man with second-degree murder in the hospital stabbing death of his ailing 83-year-old wife. Tony Jaworski is alleged to have stabbed his wife Sophie while she slept in a hospital bed at Seven Oaks Hospital on May 8. Friends said she had both terminal colon cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Police said that after the attack, Jaworski stabbed himself in the abdomen. He was charged after being released from hospital Monday and taken to jail. Media reports had raised speculation that the fatal attack was a mercy killing. But police would not say what the motive was behind the crime. The couple was married for 60 years. (After 60 years together, of course it was a mercy killing. How can anybody simply stand by, and watch a part of their life slowly suffer and die.. If a person is simply just hanging on, with out hope, without life, they should be able to go in peace. I would MUCH rather have the choice. Wouldn't you? Now, Mr Jaworski has to suffer at the hands of our 'Just-Us' system, instead of going with his wife, which he clearly wanted to do. At 86, being alone after 60 years of loving companionship is in itself a curse!)
Audit targets gun-control contracts
Ottawa — The Justice Department routinely broke federal rules by hand-picking contractors to work on its gun-control program and other projects without justifying the lack of a competitive process, says a highly critical internal review. The audit report, obtained by The Canadian Press, also uncovered a pattern of “questionable practices” including missing paperwork, contracts without clear goals and frequent changes to signed agreements. The audit's release comes amid continuing concerns about federal contracting practices, notably lapses that led to $250-million in suspect sponsorship program spending. Almost 99 per cent of the contracts awarded in 2000 by the Canada Firearms Centre, which helps administer the controversial federal gun registry, were non-competitive. But the centre did not require managers to explain the decisions to hand-choose contractors, the report says.(THE GUN REGISTRY: ANOTHER LIBERAL SLUSH FUND.. They 'say' the goal is public safety, when the goal is really public fleecing, and paying off more of their friends. Now of course as the election looms (they have 'only' held off 'officially' calling an election so they could travel from coast to coast on a non election campaign at taxpayers expense), the, Liberals will start throwing around more of your money, trying desperately to hoodwink you out of your vote, thereby giving them another four years at the public trough rewarding themselves, and their friends. I certainly hope Stephen has a nice new broom! Sweeping these parasites out of office come June 28th should be a coast to coast priority)
Cabinet squabble stalls overhaul of gun registry
OTTAWA -- A package of reforms aimed at revamping the $1-billion gun registry has been before cabinet for more than a month, stalled by ministerial wrangling, although a last-minute push is under way to try to announce changes within days. Sources say the reform package recommends decriminalizing registry offences, reducing the registry's bureaucracy and dramatically strengthening sanctions against those who commit crimes using guns. Liberal officials expect the changes would sell well in the West and in many rural parts of Ontario and Quebec in the election campaign that Prime Minister Paul Martin is expected to call this Sunday for a vote on June 28. Some Liberals also expect it would appeal to many urban voters who, despite their anti-gun views, are appalled by the registry's cost. Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan is responsible for the reform package and it is sitting on her desk, according to sources, although it was written by Albina Guarnieri, associate minister of National Defence. Ms. Guarnieri spent more than three months travelling the country listening to groups and individuals on the issue. A spokeswoman for Ms. McLellan, who is running for a fourth term in an Edmonton riding, could give no details about where the package was in cabinet or when it would be finalized.(The only thing known 'for sure' is that "Land Slide Annie" won't be in cabinet after the next election. The time to call the election could not be better.. After Pinocchio McGuinty back stabbing provincial budget yesterday, Ontario KNOWS  what to expect from his buddies in Ottawa! Lies, Lies and More Lies.. What ever will get them elected. A quick look back to the year 2000, shows that the MAJORITY , 59% of Canadians did NOT vote Liberal. Our antiquated election system gave them a un-earned majority, and vote splitting was the major cause. Vote splitting is now over, so I hope we will be saying a 'not-so-fond' farewell to the majority of these trough wallowers)
Conservative leader in flesh not so scary
Harper knows his stuff, but he needs new haircut
He says he wants to preserve Canada's social programs. And he wants to give taxpayers back some of their money by eliminating wasteful spending on things such as the sponsorship program. Sounds like common sense to me. ORGANIZED Harper was actually pretty solid, answering questions in both English and French. He's organized in his thoughts. And, by and large, he answers questions directly -- a rare quality in a politician these days. He does lack colour and personality. But who's he up against -- Prime Minister Paul Martin, the guy who's got the personality of a guppy? Besides, what Harper lacks in style he more than makes up for in substance.
He's what they call a "policy wonk" in political circles, meaning he knows his stuff inside and out. He can share a stage with Martin in a leadership debate and bloody his nose pretty good. And he will. So, I'm happy to report that Harper isn't any scarier than the milkman or your kid's soccer coach. In fact, he seems more in tune with the average soccer mom than most of the dead wood on Parliament Hill. (It certainly IS time for a change, and a sharp turn from the 'good ol boys backroom dealing' is what the country needs. Paul Martin is one of the 'good ol backroom boys' that avoids paying Canadian taxes, and probably owes more to his buddies at Power Corp. than he does to the 'no bodies' out there who are dumb enough to vote for him. A vote for a Liberal Candidate, is a Vote for more of the same old Liberal style politics.. Haven't 'you' had enough?)
Scrap gun registry, poll urges
Liberals living in 'dreamworld': MP
OTTAWA -- A majority of Canadians of all political stripes firmly believe the federal government could fight crime better by scrapping its controversial gun registry and putting the money into other law enforcement priorities, a new poll suggests. The poll, commissioned by Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz, found 61.6 per cent of Canadians who responded in a national telephone survey "strongly agree" the government should spend the money elsewhere. A further 15.1 per cent "somewhat" agreed with the suggestion, prompting Breitkreuz to say in a statement he intends to release today that fully 76.7 per cent of Canadians across the entire political spectrum agree the registry should be scrapped. "The Liberals are living in their own gun-control dreamland," Breitkreuz said when he released an advance copy of the poll results. "Canadian voters know that the gun registry isn't gun control, but for some inexplicable reason the Liberals just don't get it."(And just 'why' should they get it? They have never 'really' consulted with anybody on anything they wanted in the past. Don't confuse them with facts. All they really want is your money, and all the power over you they can get! They didn't listen in 95 when rock was told he was living a 'pipe dream', and they have never listened since. After all, 'what's another wasted billion dollars' to a Liberal!)
When a government doesn't believe in its own laws
What happens when the government doesn't believe its own laws?  Ask Ed Hudson of the Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association, and he'll tell you. "They're afraid to charge us for fear of what will happen once this hits the courts," says Hudson.  What exactly does that mean? Senator-in-Waiting Ted Morton describes in his research paper "How the Firearms Act (Bill C-68) Violates The Charter of Rights and Freedoms":  "Bill C-68 (the Firearms Act) contains as many as 28 distinct Charter violations. If the Supreme Court applies the same Charter rules to law-abiding firearm owners as it has to drunk-drivers, drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps, single parent welfare recipients, abortion providers, murderers, refugee claimants and owners of child pornography, that is if it applies the law of the land with an even hand then it will be forced by its own precedents to declare Bill-68 unconstitutional and thus of no force or effect." Ed Hudson agrees. "The government knows the Firearms Act cannot withstand a constitutional challenge. That's why they refuse to charge us. We traveled to every provincial capital, and to Ottawa twice protesting this law. We've given every Provincial Attorney General evidence that we've broken this law. We gave them videotaped evidence of illegal firearm transfers. We've given the same evidence to the Prime Minister. Nobody will charge us under the Firearms Act."(Ontario, under Mike Harris, told the Liberals to go get stuffed. Ontario would not charge simple registry/license offences, and Pinocchio McGuinty has not even opened his mouth on the subject since he stole  office by lying himself into government. Only the stupid, or the ignorant believe it's of any use, or worth the billions wasted on it. But, as long as the liberals are in power, you will see millions and millions of more tax dollars pissed away on this farce every single year! How many more studies, how many more reports, how many more lies do they expect Canadians to believe when they won't even test this farce in court. Nothing will happen, and if elected 'again' this government will continue to bleed your tax dollars on 'feel good' debacles such as this!)
Gun legislation a failure, let us count the ways
If you listen to the anti-gunners, the mere presence of guns will increase the rates of homicides, suicides and violent crimes. So Canada and the United States should be the worst places to live. Admittedly, the U.S. has the highest incidence of gun crime. So it's the fattest kid at the gym. But if we look at the last 10 years, the results from the U.S. contradict other countries' attempts to solve the problem. The rate of decline of gun-related crimes in the U.S. is better than Canada's. It's also much better than in Britain and Australia. Countries where they have banned and confiscated guns are seeing crime rates rise significantly. The U.S. diet is working; ours is not. The anti-gunners like to point to suicide statistics as proof Bill C-68 in Canada is working. Indeed, gun suicides are going down, arguably due to the increased complexities and scrutiny in obtaining a gun. However, the total number of suicides is not changing. People bent on destroying themselves turn to other methods. So again the expensive experiment has failed to achieve one of its stated purposes.(According to the 'anti's' the mere fact that people are not killing themselves with guns, means success.. Their all just as dead mind you, but the slow strangulation on the end of a rope is so much more politically correct, and that's 'really' what it all about isn't it?)
Time To Dump The Gun Registry!
The Martin government is letting slip tantalizing hints that it might do something about Canada's $1-billion gun registry. We are told that this has nothing to do with the election expected on June 28. Still, we can't help but note that if there were a political dimension to this, we would be seeing just what we are seeing now: acknowledgement of a problem but no specifics of a solution. Any precise step might cost votes. Something certainly has to be done about the registry. The government's own estimates show that the cost of this thing, first estimated at $2 million, will reach $1 billion by next year and could climb past $2 billion within the next few years. To date, about 7 million firearms have been registered, leaving an estimated 1 million unaccounted for.(A GREAT start would be for the media and everyone else to stop spouting the bogus figure supplied by the government.  There are FAR more unregistered, legally obtained firearms in the hands of farmers, hunters, and target shooters than the government wants you to believe. Their own previous estimates show millions more guns, and even the last 'Just-Us' minister 'admitted' that there was a 10 MILLION gun discrepancy in the governments figures. The Liberals have wasted 2 billion dollars to register about 1 third of the legally obtained firearms in this country. The 14 million 'without' registration? They are the PRIVATE PROPERTY of Canadian citizens, and will NEVER be registered regardless of how many hoplophobes are squandering your tax dollars!).
Chrétienites shut out of next Liberal campaign
OTTAWA -- Most of the top-flight Liberal strategists who helped deliver three consecutive majorities for Jean Chrétien have been shut out of any campaign role as Prime Minister Paul Martin prepares to plunge the ruling party into its toughest election fight in a decade. Despite a series of reconciliation meetings between Martin campaign organizers and veterans from the Chrétien era, most senior Chrétien loyalists say Mr. Martin's tight inner circle has sought neither their advice nor their expertise.  As a result, when Mr. Martin calls an election later this week, former members of Mr. Chrétien's national campaign team will be relegated to helping out individual Liberal candidates or simply sitting back and watching the campaign unfold. Warren Kinsella, a former Chrétien aide who ran the Liberal Party's war room during the past three campaigns, has announced that he won't even vote Liberal this time. Several other Chrétien loyalists privately admit they won't either.(Liberals, that won't vote Liberal! Why? Because they've seen the polls, and  know, who the best man is for Prime Minister is. )
Your money on drugs
It concluded total spending on drug enforcement alone may be as much as $1 billion a year.  What benefit Canadian taxpayers get for this lavish spending is a mystery. The auditor general noted that the government does not have clear expectations for its spending and that even if it did, there is no way to measure whether those goals are being met because there are no national data on drug use, convictions or sentences. In other words, the government doesn't know what it's spending, why it's spending it, or whether its efforts are working.  All of which makes the gun registry look like a model of sound public policy. But it gets worse.(These are 'liberal' policies, of course it gets worse, It usually does!)
Oscar Guilty?
EDMONTON (CP) - A former sergeant-at-arms at the Alberta legislature was found guilty Thursday of weapons charges brought against him after he protested Ottawa's gun registry. Oscar Lacombe, a Korean War veteran, brought an old .22-calibre rifle to a rally on the legislature grounds Jan. 1, 2003, the day new registration requirements under the Firearms Act came into effect. He was later charged with offences that already existed under the Criminal Code: possession of a firearm without a licence or registration certificate and carrying a weapon to a public meeting. The gun was wrapped in plastic, unloaded and with its bolt removed so it was inoperable. Lacombe requested he be arrested under the provisions of the Firearms Act. Alberta justice officials have said they won't prosecute gun owners who break the law by failing to register their weapons.(Except of course when they lie and do it anyway.. Oscar brought a totally un-fireable 'frame or receiver' securely wrapped in plastic. Im sure if he had a baseball bat in his possession (basically the same thing) he would never have been arrested.. But, I guess the Fed./Provincial prosecutors, could actually 'see' the evil gun 'photons' leaking  through the plastic.. Truly a day of shame for the Alberta Legislature, and a day of reckoning for the Liberals and their farce of a firearms act, that they won't prosecute anyone under, but use it simply as a club to keep the peons in order..Something that will change after the Federal election.)
N.B. police warn of bandits using dirty needles
FREDERICTON — Highwaymen favoured the flashing blade and Jesse James preferred the six gun, but the weapon of choice for hold-up artists in the New Brunswick capital these days is the loaded syringe. Fredericton police said Thursday they are concerned about a trend towards using hypodermic needles in robberies at convenience stores, gas bars and, in one case, a taxi cab. Sgt. Gary Arbour said that of 12 robberies in recent weeks in the capital, seven have been staged by robbers brandishing what appear to be dirty needles, threatening to stick clerks if they don't hand over cash. "We're advising clerks to regard these syringes as dangerous weapons," Arbour said. "Given the kind of contagious diseases that can be spread by needles, these weapons are very frightening." Owners and managers of convenience stores in the area are telling their workers to cooperate if confronted by a robber with a hypodermic needle. Cathy Detchevery, manager of one of the city's Subway restaurants, said the robber who held up her store a few weeks ago told the clerk the syringe he was holding was loaded with blood. "Our advice to our workers is 'Do whatever they say, give them whatever they want, it's not worth your life'," she said. "Give them a sub if they really want it." (It's probably not the owner of the store that's being threatened by the punk with the needle.. If it IS the owner being threatened, my recommendation? Pull out a F'n baseball bat.. Christ it's only a needle, and a baseball bat is much larger, and has better 'reach' and if a needle is all he's armed with you definitely have the upper hand.. If owners were to take a bat and beat the shit of these losers, instead of giving them what they want, the robberies would cease because criminals are basically cowards. On the other hand employees 'should' be told to simply hand over whatever the robber wants.. what the hell, it's not 'their' property, and not worth the risk..)
This MP3 player is a blast!
So after all those million and millions of dollars spent on setting it up and advertising that we all need to be good little boys and girls and register our guns; after all the teeth-gnashing about increases in safety real or imagined, and heated debate over whether or not only criminals will now have guns; there appears to be one great way around the Canadian gun registry.Order an MP3 player online. 21-year-old Brandon Buchan, an English student at the University of Saskatchewan, was surprised to open a package he received in the mail, and find a Smith & Wesson in it. That was largely because Buchan hadn't ordered a .22, but rather a few hundred megs. His order, from a U.S. pawn shop via an online auction, was supposed to be a brand new shiny MP3 player. It wasn't. It was a gun. And a license, to boot. (Strike #2 eh!.. First a Ak-47 labelled 'Aluminium Baseball Bat' and now a handgun labelled 'MP3 Player'.. Makes you wonder why the gangbangers bother to smuggle, instead of just having their firearms mailed, and if caught feign, ignorance and astonishment that they received a 'gun' instead of a what? Dildo?.. The mind boggles...)
Liberals plan early ad attack on Harper
OTTAWA -- The Martin Liberals are preparing to bring out the "heavy artillery" next week, launching a barrage of attack ads aimed at demonizing Conservative Leader Stephen Harper -- an early strike in what is expected to be a nasty campaign by all parties.  The ads, quoting contentious statements Mr. Harper has made over the years on issues such as immigration, are expected to be broadcast next week -- except in Quebec -- just days before a probable election call and in the pre-writ period when election spending rules do not apply.  This strategy came as Prime Minister Paul Martin reached out to Chrétien Liberals yesterday in a last-ditch effort to unify the party.  However, some Liberals are questioning the ad strategy, especially after a furor in caucus last week over a previous series of negative ads targeting Mr. Harper.  The new ads are apparently toned-down versions of the earlier ads prepared for the party, mocking Mr. Harper's views. The new ones feature only his words with no menacing sound effects or interpretation of his remarks.  Attack ads are usually used near the end of a campaign when a party is bleeding support. "I've never seen a campaign where you start using negative ads before the writ is dropped," said a veteran Liberal organizer. "Usually it's at the end of the campaign . . . desperation."(Desperation is the word! Perhaps they could accuse him of wasting billions and billions of tax dollars on frivolous 'party projects' and friends?.. A party that did THAT, could never get elected.. Perhaps they could point out any of Stephen's People that have been recently arrested for fraud? Perhaps they could find a reason to convince people NOT to vote for a fresh government, a government that has based it's platform on returning this country to a democracy? Perhaps they could just accuse him of blatant ignorance of Canadian History, and planning to invade Norway? Maybe he has some of his property registered in another country to avoid paying Canadian taxes! Perhaps Stephen's business was 'really' given 160 million dollars instead of the 130 thousand he told Canadians he received.. After all, their 'desperate' I'm sure if they dig far enough, they can come up with 'something'..!)
Forest Hills teenager banned from playing violent video games
A Forest Hills student who mailed an assault rifle to a Canadian teenager will be on probation for three years until he turns 18. As part of that probation, the 15-year-old is banned from playing violent video games. His case was handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office which is rare for a juvenile. United States Attorney Phil Green tells 24 Hour News 8 that he suggested the teen be forced to avoid violent computer games because they were a reason for his interest in guns.(There is nothing wrong with a teenager having an interest in guns, providing he or she gets their information from a 'good source', such as hunter education, and firearms safely programs. Unfortunately many kids that live in Urban settings are usually identified as 'freaks' by their teachers for even thinking about learning how to safely handle firearms. The general feeling is "Keep em Ignorant, Keep em Safe" and we all know how well that works.. If this boys parents had 'mentored' him up with someone that could safely teach him about firearms, 'Before' buying him the AK47, this incident would never have happened.)
Liberal alleges fraud in Fry's nomination
Vancouver -- A member of the federal Liberal Party is alleging fraud in the nomination process for Vancouver-Centre MP Hedy Fry. David McCann took his complaints to the police, but it's not clear if an investigation will be launched.  Mr. McCann claims Ms. Fry's supporters backdated membership forms, allowing her campaign to continue signing up members after nominations closed. She denies the allegations.(And why wouldn't she deny the allegations? Ms. Hedy 'crosses are burning as we speak' Fry, is a pillar of Liberal truthfulness)
New anti-gang law used in Toronto gun round-up
Malvern is a neighborhood in far northeast Toronto that has been particularly plagued by gun violence. As an example, at least two people living there died in their homes after being struck by stray bullets.  "We are overjoyed that this has occurred today. We feel it's a response to our prayers on the street," said Orim Meikle, pastor of Rhema Christian Ministries. "With most of these guns off the street right now, we save a lot of lives today," said Patricia Fough.  Her 21-year-old son Omar Kent Hortley was shot and killed this year as he walked to a friend's home. He wasn't involved with any gang.  "It's just been three months and a half right now," Fough said. "I know he would want me to be strong and keep going, but he's always in my heart." Hortley's murder, which was Toronto's fifth of 2004, remains unsolved. The city's homicide count now stands at 19.(I'm sure that Chief Fantino will give credit to the "gun registry" as being a HUGE help in this crack down. HaHaHa.....  If 'any' of the guns recovered were in fact previously legal, but stolen guns, they will show up on CPIC. The rest, will simply be a long string of 'Not Found's, and the numbers will be forwarded to the U.S.,  who seem to have the ability to trace firearms 'without' a billion dollar boondoggle at their disposal.. With 19 homicides in Toronto so far this year, I'm sure the "gun registry" has been simply 'MONUMENTAL' in solving each and every one of them, and VASTLY more life saving, than the 235 MRI Machines that 'could' have been bought, installed, and operated for the same amount of money!  We all know, that it's more 'Liberally Correct' to die while waiting for diagnostic treatment, than take the remote chance of being shot by a small band of renegade duck hunters, because the 'gun registry' has ZERO effect on Criminals!!)
Charges vindicate Fraser
But voters will have to judge whether Prime Minister Paul Martin also pays a price over sponsorship scandal
When all is said and done, the criminal charges laid Monday against two of the main principals in the federal sponsorship program vindicate only one player in the saga and it is not the Prime Minister. For weeks, Liberal members of the public accounts committee had been chipping away at the credibility of Auditor-General Sheila Fraser. With the help of a handful of advertising executives, they had built a tentative case that she had construed a mountain of improprieties out of an accounting molehill. But now a police investigation has validated Fraser's initial finding that something was terribly wrong with the management of the federal government's advertising funds. The courts will ultimately decide whether the Liberal government's efforts to be more visible were used, as the RCMP suggests, as a cover for fraudulent activity.(I'm just as sure, that this will turn out to be only 'one' of the cookie jars this corrupt government had it's fingers in. If companies like e-bay, can run an amazing online database of thousands and thousands of individual's and their thousands and thousands of items for what I assume is only a 'fraction' of what was wasted on a Canadian licensing and gun registry scheme. It makes you wonder what 'could' they have spend all that money on? The shear amount, and level of incompetence, would have to be simply staggering beyond all comprehension! I'm also just as sure that when we have a change of government, a large number of the players in 'this' current government will be indicted on one charge or another. The liberals are truly fighting this coming election for 'their' freedom, from incarceration..)
Conservative defence critic confirms party’s plans to help military if elected
Just blocks away from 8 Wing Trenton, the Conservative Party’s senior national defence critic unveiled before local supporters the party’s plans—if voted into power this year—to pump billions more dollars into the defence budget as well as to replace the Canadian Forces’ aging fleet of Hercules planes, acquire some heavy-lift transport aircraft and buy 28 new Maritime helicopters to replace the Sea Kings. And that’s not all. British Columbia MP Jay Hill, speaking before about 40 people at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Trenton last Wednesday night, highlighted military policy recommendations the party’s caucus recently drew up for leader Stephen Harper. Hill said a Conservative government would speed up increases in the defence budget to provide an additional $1.2-billion a year over and above the increases in the 2003 federal budget to move toward a $2-billion per year increase.(Even Mulroney tried to fix some of the previous liberal attacks on the moral of the military, by dumping the unification that Trudeau in his total disdain of anything military, inflicted on them. Something 'has' to be done and it's damn sure the Liberals won't do it. Canada IS a defence freeloader, and the Liberal 911 line is connected to the WhiteHouse. THIS is the liberal view of Canadian Sovereignty, and Canadians are sick of it!)
D-Day veterans to get subsidy
$1M more to send 1,500 to France Ottawa retreats under pressure
A public outcry forced the government to reconsider. Yesterday, McCallum hinted changes would soon be announced."The government is listening. The government realizes the public wants more and the government is going to act very soon," he told the Commons.Fact is, the extra cash may be too late. Travel agents say there's not a hotel room available within three hours of the events. In question period yesterday, the Conservatives again accused the government of short-changing veterans while wasting millions of dollars on the sponsorship scandal, gun registry and governor-general's trips."They were all sent there to fight for their country, but they are not all getting the opportunity to go back there and be thankful for the fact that they did not die on those beaches," Conservative MP Rick Casson (Lethbridge) said.(Yet 'another' Canadian embarrassment from the government that thinks nothing of wasting millions to send Adrian Clarkson on a useless gallivant around Norway (Paul Martins invasion not withstanding) Yet cries 'poor' when told to send some of the last of our veterans to celebrate the fact they didn't die on those beaches, so the likes of politicians that form our 'liberal' government could screw some of the more disabled ones out of a large chunk of pension, through more of their mismanagement.  I'm anxiously waiting for the public outcry that will happen on election day, when we can finally restore democracy from this wasteful ,liberal  dictatorship)
Liberals may benefit, but not likely
Politically, only one question matters: Will the charges laid yesterday against Charles Guité and Jean Brault help or hurt Paul Martin's re-election chances?  Conventional wisdom holds that the charges will help. More likely, however, they will hurt.  They will hurt because they come at the wrong time, because they raise the possibility of other charges and because they evoke a fearful phrase: the gun registry. Worst of all for the Liberals, the police allege that Mr. Guité and Mr. Brault conspired to defraud the gun registry by fabricating a bogus communications contract. That will only confirm the worst suspicions of the millions of citizens who are skeptical of the program. They now have reason to believe that the registry, apart from being wasteful, inefficient and intrusive, may also have been used for a scam.  It may be that none of this will affect Liberal fortunes in the election, that the criminal charges will only confirm what everyone had already suspected and discounted, that people want to move on, that the election will be about whether Stephen Harper, rather than Paul Martin, can be trusted.  (The simple fact that Stephen Harper is NOT a millionaire lawyer, or business man that  dodges Canadian taxes by registering 'his' property outside the country, or supports health care for the wealthy by using a doctor that owns a string of MRI clinics (perhaps this is why Paul Martin wasted a billion harassing duck hunters and not installing 240 MRI machines across the country)  But, is probably a man that 'knows' what it might be like to 'work' for a living.  Joe 'who' says: "vote for the devil you know"! Well you certainly know Mr. Martin. He's the guy that cut 'billions' of dollars from health care, avoids Canadian taxes, supports wasting over a hundred million (and probably much, much more) each and every year on a totally useless gun registration scheme that certainly has no "irritants" for criminals, been handing out money to his friends while claiming he didn't know they were his friends, and claims to be 'restoring' the democratic deficit, although he had evoked closure on a debate within ten days of taking office, and has yet to allow any free votes..  THIS is the "Devil you know".  Why in the hell would you vote for him?  It's like seeing two men walking towards you.  You know the one on the left IS  definitely going to kick you in the balls because he's done it before, and it's his nature, and the one on the right 'may' kick you in the balls, or 'may' shake your hand..  You just have to make a decision "between the devil you KNOW, and the one you don't"! One of those decisions could leave you smiling, the other! Well, keep your legs crossed...)
The tip of the iceberg
While RCMP officials made it clear yesterday their investigations are far from over and more players may well find themselves in handcuffs, there seems to have been a certain lack of urgency in the Mounties getting their men. But that's not the worst news. Many of the charges laid yesterday don't involve the sponsorship program at all. That suggests the scandal may be much larger than the $250-million sponsorship scheme, almost certainly spilling over to the more than $1 billion spent on other government advertising and public relations activities in the past decade of Liberal rule. Two of the contracts the RCMP allege were fraudulent involved the controversial federal gun registration program, already a monumental waste of money for all kinds of other reasons. As the Sun's Stephanie Rubec first revealed in 2002, the government paid Groupaction $330,000 supposedly for a public relations program to support the much-maligned gun registry. Justice Department officials responsible for the registry told Rubec that no such PR program was ever requested by them, nor was any produced. One of the other firearms-related contracts issued by Guite's department that brought charges yesterday paid Groupaction $150,000 to monitor the gun lobby and its various websites. (well, I know for a fact websites were being monitored, because this one used to get a hit from the government snoop 2-3 times a week. The hit service I used, would record the the isp address of every connections, and make a list  not of 'who' was visiting the site, but only 'where' they were coming from. The last hit I bothered with was in June 2003- My entry:  "The Justice Department is 'Still' checking this Website
Tracker Log Entry: 23 Jun 2003 / 05:15:20 PM  URL> stop.justice.gc.ca  I've have always thought the perfect department to oversee the Firearms Farce should be Called STOP JUSTICE Ironic Ain't it?" I sort of 'enjoyed' them coming on the site. That way, I could insult and ridicule them directly..ha..)
RCMP Arrest Guité And Brault In Sponsorship Scandal
The RCMP have arrested two key figures in the highly publicized federal sponsorship probe. On Monday, the RCMP arrested Chuck Guité the former bureaucrat in charge of the sponsorship program as well as Jean Brault, the head of Groupaction. Both men face six counts each for fraud totaling nearly $2 million said the RCMP. The charges are directly related to three contracts awarded to Groupaction between 1996 and 1999, worth $500,000, $550,000 and $575,000. The RCMP said Guité and Brault conspired to defraud the government "by way of a bogus contract worth $330,000". Guité and Brault also face charges relating to the federal gun registry. The RCMP allege the two men defrauded the federal government of $150,000 in relation to a gun registry contract. During a live briefing the RCMP asked anyone with information that could help their investigation into the sponsorship scandal to come forward. The pair could face up to 10 years in prison on each charge for a total of 60 years. Both both men will appear in front of Montreal Superior Court Judge this afternoon. More charges are possible as the investigation continues, said the RCMP. Guité was arrested in Ottawa and Brault turned himself in to police in Montreal.(Well! How about that... Just in time for an election eh! Well, I guess that about settles it as far as the liberals are concerned! Here is your "small band of rogue bureaucrats" all wrapped up in time for the election.. What was it Jean the weasel said a year ago about being honest, and that no one had been arrested? Are YOU next Jean? These guys will open up like a whores legs at a frat party, and drag a lot of those "honest"(..ha) liberals down with them.. No more protecting papadoc jean.. Maybe we'll even find out just how 'large' the "small band of rogue bureaucrats" actually is)
Grits aim to fix gun registry
Have Flying pigs sighted over Ottawa?
OTTAWA -- The Liberal government is considering four main proposals to fix the $1-billion gun registry -- including reducing or eliminating user fees, extending the renewal period to register guns to 10 years and handing over management of the registry to the RCMP. It is also considering changes to the firearms registry that will address the needs of long gun owners, such as farmers, hunters, fishermen and aboriginals. Sources told CanWest News Service that no decisions have been made -- but that these are some of the key reecommendations put forward in a recent report by Associate Defence Minister Albina Guarnieri, who was asked by Prime Minister Paul Martin to propose solutions to fix the problem-plagued registry. However, she acknowledged the solution must take into account that long gun owners -- mostly hunters, aboriginals and farmers -- must be given different considerations than handgun owners. Sources say options include removing long gun owners from the Criminal Code to take away the perception hunters and farmers are no different than criminals. Currently, all gun owners who fail to comply with the law face criminal charges. By removing long gun owners, they would instead be subject to a summary conviction or a ticket, sources say.(First things first.. Because it's highly unlikely "landslide Annie" will be around after the next election, why the hell is she even in the equation?  And if long gun owners are to be treated differently,  handgun owners" are to be equated with criminals? What a bunch of paranoid assholes.. How do they even drive down the road without worrying that some psycho is  going to swerve in front of them and kill their whole family, which by the way is far more likely than a legal handgun owner shooting them? Why aren't all people who have the occasional drink, and own a car, not treated as the potential drunk drivers they must be under liberal paranoia rules? By even suggesting these changes, they have admitted that the entire c-68 is a useless mess, and the only reason they are not dumping it is they would be admitting they were wrong in the first place. Christ Paul!! Call the god damn election, lets get rid of as many of you useless paranoid bastards as soon as possible. )
The 'M' Mom march..
T
he Million Mom March took place on Sunday. 999,000 moms decided to stay home.  Lost on the organizers, as well as the marchers, is the irony of holding a gun-control rally in Washington, D.C. More than a quarter century after the nation's capital banned nearly all private firearms, the city's gun-violence problem has not gotten any better. The latest statistics show that Washington is once again murder capital of the United States. For cities of greater than 500,000 people, the district's 262 killings in 2002 made its murder rate higher than Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago, and other dangerous cities. Perhaps this helps explain the sparse attendance at the Mother's Day rally — even in the midst of a national debate on renewing the assault-weapons ban. (It would look as if 999,000 of the 'million moms' have decided that this group is a pack of 'flakes'. Banning guns, would turn 'every' American city into a "Washington D.C.". I think D.C. stands for "Disarmed Citizens" of course, it could also stand for "Dead Citizens", 262 of them last year to be exact! Only the police should have firearms? perhaps they would like to confer with citizens..er.. subjects, of 'any' country where "only the police" have firearms first? After all, in a perfect society, where no one has firearms 'but' the police, why would 'they' still need them.. Because without them, the citizens would be in control!)
Gun maker gets 7 years
Illegal factory run in Mississauga basement
A Mississauga man who ran an illegal gun factory in his basement "like he was selling suits" has received a seven-year prison sentence. While police never proved the weapons that Zoltan Balatoni made from parts he stole from the Para-Ordnance gun factory in Scarborough ended up being used in serious crimes, crown prosecutor Brian McGuire told Balatoni's sentencing hearing this week there was no doubt Balatoni's salesmen sold his home-built weapons to criminals."He produced illegal handguns as if he was selling suits," McGuire said. Balatoni, he said, was "motivated by greed." The court heard that each weapon fetched about $500 on the street.(Hmmmm I paid well over a thousand for my 'legal' Para.. 500 sounds pretty damn cheap.. A para handgun is one of the finest handguns in the world.. No wonder business was brisk! Their handguns are great, but I find their magazines are crap!! If your shooting ipsic indoors , hit the button and drop the mag onto a concrete floor, the chances are very good that the base of the mag will break or fly apart.. I've put cushions on all mine, but according to the rulebook (and pointed out to me by a range officer)  that is a 'mag extension' and takes me out of production class.... But 500 bucks.. wow, that's cheap!!!)
Correctional Service Canada demonstrates cavalier attitude toward officer safety
MONTREAL, May 6 /CNW Telbec/ - Statements to a Toronto newspaper show that Correctional Service Canada still doesn't get it on the health and safety of its 5,700 correctional officers. Questioned by a reporter on the use of stab-proof vests in its 54 institutions across Canada, a CSC spokesperson showed once again that federal prison managers care little for the daily risks their staff take in one of the most dangerous occupations in the country. "There are less than two stabbings a year against staff," CSC spokesperson Michelle Pilon-Santilli is quoted as saying in the May 5 edition of the Toronto Sun. "It's our policy that safety equipment shouldn't be at the discretional use of employees." However, the CSC's own statistics show that more than 600 weapons, including knives, guns and explosives, were seized in federal institutions last year. And in maximum-security penitentiaries, six inmates were murdered (many with home-made knives, or "shanks") over the same period - a murder rate 100 times the Canadian average.(Well, lets put this in 'proper liberal context'! Just HOW MANY officers will have to die before they are allowed to 'offend' the criminals 'sensitivities' in our prisons by wearing a 'stab proof vest' that basically says "we don't trust you with our lives" ? This is the excuse given by the prison public relations dork for not handing out protective vests. This 'excuse'  was from a bureaucrat who obviously has no contact with reality, 'or' career criminals.. Perhaps he should 'shadow' a corrections officer for six months, and if he survives, may come away with a very different attitude!)
Cancer poster draws lots of fire
Guelph—A controversial fundraising poster featuring eight provocatively clad, gun-slinging female police officers is drawing fire. The poster, with the caption "Girls with Guns Target Breast Cancer," is a fundraiser for breast cancer research but that message is lost, detractors say, in images of sexy, heavily armed officers. "There they are sporting guns as if it's a fun thing to do," said Dawn Reynolds, a family therapist in Guelph who is offended by the poster. "Guns are what kill women. They are not a good thing. I regret hugely that this was done, especially for such a worthy cause as breast cancer."(Perhaps this 'therapist' should have a talk with one of his colleagues and get some help! With our government by passing the opportunity to really save some women, they blow a couple of billion on registering duck guns, and throw a few scraps to breast cancer research.. Is health care 'really' Paul Martins #1 priority? or is paying off his friends in ad agencies, and friends of the 'other' liberal slush fund ? "Clearly" Mr Martin has his head up his ass when it come to what 'will' save lives, and prefers to keep funding what 'will' keep his parasitic buddies happy?)
DEA agent shoots self in leg during gun-safety class for kids
ORLANDO -- The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is investigating an incident in which one of its agents giving a presentation to Orlando-area children on gun safety shot himself in the thigh. During the speech, the agent drew his .40-caliber duty weapon and removed the magazine, the report said. He then pulled back the slide and asked a man in the audience to look inside the weapon to make sure it was not loaded, the report said. "The person nodded that it didn't have ammunition," Farmer recounted. "The gun was never pointed at anyone." Witnesses told police that the agent kept his gun pointed toward the floor and when he released the slide, the weapon fired one shot into the top of his thigh.(Ahhh one up the pipe left there by the defective 'nut' behind the trigger, the 'real' reason for N.D.'s (Negligent Discharges).. Canadian Police 'are' better trained it would seem. They only negligently discharge 'their' firearms into lockers, mirrors, and court room floors. Looking back at 'Rock's' statement "I came to Ottawa with the firm belief that only police and soldiers should have guns" leaves me with absolutely no doubt about  just how intelligent 'those' option might be?)
The Last Bastion of a Desperate Government:
'Spreading false rumours'

There is a rule in politics that if you don't define yourself, your opponent will do it for you. In Stephen Harper's case, it means immunizing himself from the accusation that he is dangerous. You know, a health-care slashing, war-mongering, gun-toting, homophobic, anti-French, xenophobic wild-eyed radical. The leader of the far right, from the far West. The inoculation process begins with a sense of humour, preferably about oneself. While self-deprecating humour has been previously undetected in Harper, he showed a deft touch leading off question period yesterday with the observation that the Liberals were preparing a new advertising campaign even as they were cleaning up the mess from the last one. Harper knew the Liberals were planning to demonize him in the election campaign, but not the lengths to which they're prepared to go in depicting him as a threat to Canadian values, indeed to the Canadian way of life.(You mean the 'liberals' view of the Canadian way of life? I.E. A Disarmed population in a country where prisoners can vote, sentencing for multiple crimes are 'concurrent' (like a two for one sale where you do two crimes, and  only do the time for one), where the criminal has more rights than the victim,  where the military has been reduced to a 'token' force, where, farmers can lose their  land and livelihood because a endangered worm might be burrowing in their soil, where the police can 'inspect' your home without a warrant because you are a target shooter, or hunter, where pedophiles can roam freely across the country but a  law abiding firearm owners will face jail time if they don't disclose their whereabouts within 30 days, where special interest 'fringe groups' like PETA and CFGC get funding from the government to support their 'junk science', where millions of your tax dollars line the pockets of government 'friendlies', where a 'leader' that 'says' health care is his #1 priority, but  is in fact the same guy that slashed BILLIONS, AND BILLIONS from health care almost as soon as he became finance minister? The list goes on and on.. The Liberals view of Canadian life should be what THEY want it to be, with little regard for what the people actually want. Canada, won't survive another liberal government. We've already lost the Canadian freedoms our parents and grand parents enjoyed, and this election should be all about getting it back)
Go Ahead Paul! Piss off 8 million fishermen now!

“Very little science behind Liberals’ proposed ban on lead sinkers and brass fishing lures.”
Mr. Garry Breitkreuz (Yorkton—Melville, CPC): Mr. Speaker, men and women who enjoy fishing are on the Liberal hit list.  Decades of Liberal red tape has been killing hunting and shooting sports in Canada. Now they have picked the fishing industry as their next target.  A few weeks ago, the environment minister tried to quietly announce his proposal to ban all lead sinkers and brass fishing lures. He plans to put his plan into place in October, after the election. There are about eight million men and women in Canada who enjoy fishing. This Liberal government is going after them, just like it went after firearms owners.  Liberals have driven hundreds of thousands of responsible firearms owners out of their sport; have cost the Canadian economy more than 10,000 businesses and the thousands of jobs that go with them. Now they have a plan to do the same thing to the fishing industry by banning fishing tackle. All this is being done without sufficient scientific evidence that there is even a problem. It is about time we gave Liberals the hook. “The Liberals are using the same death-by-a-thousand-cuts tactics to attack the recreational fishing industry that has been so successful in ravaging the hunting and shooting sports in Canada over the last 30 years,” declared Breitkreuz.  “Minister Anderson started his behind-closed-doors anti-fishing campaign in June of 2000 and has repeatedly refused to meet with or respond to calls and correspondence from the Canadian Sport Fishing Industry Association.”
“During debate of a Private Member’s Bill on the same issue just two years ago, the government promised a three-step program:  Promise #1: “a clear understanding of the impact of lead fishing gear on wildlife” - NOT IMPLEMENTED! Promise #2: “work in partnership with stakeholders” - NOT IMPLEMENTED!
Promise #3: “scientific information for discussion with all stakeholders” - NOT IMPLEMENTED! After the election will be too late for the fishing industry.  Today is the day for every Canadian who enjoys fishing to demand answers from Paul Martin’s Liberals,” concluded Breitkreuz. (There are far more people who fish in this country, than hunt. This government is on a quest to eliminate the taking of ALL wildlife! Who's running this government anyway?  We know that 'Wendy' and her 'junk science' has the liberal ear, as far as firearms are concerned. Does PETA have their wet tongue in Paul's 'other' ear? From the 'Species at risk' bill that can render a farmers land worthless because some rare 'worm' has been found in the soil, to the animal protection bill that could see farmers bankrupt from litigation cost over frivolous animal rights group lawsuits. It would seem that this government has a 'secret agenda' or possible a 'secret pact' with idiotic groups like PETA. Hunting and fishing is a RIGHT of ALL Canadians. Make sure EVERYONE who enjoys fishing, KNOWS that now 'they' are going to face the same fight for their rights that hunters have faced for years. The vast, vast ,vast, majority of lead in water came from 'shot'. lead shot is no longer being used for waterfowl hunting, and the elimination of  lead fishing sinkers, and brass spinners will have no effect either way. Other than of course, a financially devastating blow to the fishing and tourist industries. PETA (perverts, eco-terrorists & assholes) may have followed the same plan as the CFGC (Cukier's fools for Gun Confiscation) and their 'junk science'. They may very well have convinced many of the dim bulbs in the liberal party not to be confused by 'REAL' facts.. After all,  any old stigma is good enough to beat a dogma with!)
Prof's study takes shot at Canada's gun registry
Canada's gun registry does not work, according to Dr. Gary Mauser, a Simon Fraser University professor. He spoke Saturday in Saskatoon at a conference organized by the Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association (CUFOA). "We have spent $2 billion on licensing and registering guns in Canada and it has not decreased violent crime and suicide," Mauser said. He has authored a study: The Failed Experiment, Gun Control and Public Safety in Canada, Australia, England and Wales and the Firearms Act.(The Feds. have always disregarded 'everything' Dr. Mauser has said. He has only been wrong once, that anyone knows of! That's when he told the Liberals that their registry was going to end up costing a billion dollars.. It is in fact, closer to TWO BILLION.. and the waste will continue, as long as the liberals are in charge.. The liberals aren't 'shocked' by the amount they have wasted on this, they 'knew' it was going to cost 'two something', only they told parliament it was in 'millions', not 'BILLIONS' what's a few zeros to a liberal.. sure some of the money may have also been stolen, but if it only saves 'one' life it's worth it.. Unfortunately, as the bodies are piling up, were 'still' waiting for that one life to be saved.. )
Shooter Goes Out with a Bang
DUBLIN (Reuters) - Friends of a champion Irish clay pigeon shooter have fulfilled his dying wish by packing his ashes into shotgun cartridges and blasting his remains over firing ranges around the world. Shooting enthusiast Tony Mullan made the request before he died at Easter aged 63 after a year-long illness.  "Tony said 'I want to go out with a bang and it's up to you guys to help me,'" said Willie Hughes, Mullan's best friend and shooting partner of 20 years.  "So I took the lead out of 50 cartridges, put Tony's ashes into them and recrimped them, and now every ground I go to I fire one off," he added.  "Tony would have done the same for me," he told Reuters. (Ahhh friends, you can gauge the good ones by their caliber)
It's just a rumour..
The Waste WILL continue as planned

Associate defence minister Albina Guarnieri has denied she is recommending a voluntary gun registry to replace the existing costly program and insists the government is committed to maintaining a registration system for all weapons. Guarnieri on Friday blamed gun-control lobbyists trying to stir up trouble for rumours that she has recommended some sort of optional registry in advance of a federal election.(From the look of 'this' report, the Lib's are still going to proceed with this useless endeavour of a gun registry.. They know what they want, they just don't want to be confused with 'facts' .. Come on Paul! Call the goddamn election.. Lets get this show on the road.. The public already knows your party is corrupt and wasteful, lets see how many of you we can actually get rid of.. Hey 'landslide' Annie? Got any new job prospects yet? Yer gonna need em..)
Voluntary gun registry idea 'absurd'
Voluntary registration favoured by West
OTTAWA -- Liberals may be considering a proposal for a voluntary firearms registration as part of the party's effort to appease western voters. Toronto MP Sarmite Bulte said Thursday members of the gun-control lobby have told members of Parliament the idea surfaced when associate defence minister Albina Guarnieri met advocates of the gun registry during her three-month review of the Firearms Act. Wendy Cukier, head of the Coalition For Gun Control, alerted MPs about the proposal in a letter outlining her concerns about a series of recommendations that Guarnieri has reportedly submitted to Anne McLellan, deputy prime minister and minister for public safety. Bulte and Montreal Liberal MP Marlene Jennings vowed the proposal would meet stiff resistance in the Liberal caucus. "All hell will break loose," said Jennings. "The overwhelming majority in every single province want compulsory gun registration. They want police to know who has guns and what guns they have."(What planet is this woman been living on? Polls over the last year, have show a "overwhelming" number of Canadians all across this country are saying 'Scrap this Crap'.. Fortunately Ms Marlene Jennings is a Quebec 'Liberal' MP , and their all slated for the trash heap after the next election anyway.. She'll be standing on the outside with her nose pressed against the parliament windows, along with Annie...As for Voluntary registration? ..hahahahahahahahahahaha...Why not!! It's as stupid an idea as the registry itself!!  )
ONTARIO GOVERNMENT SIGNS PROTOCOL WITH POLICE ABOUT BEARS
"I'm very pleased we've reached this agreement clarifying that police will respond to bear problems that pose an immediate public safety threat," said Ramsay. "This will help the public know who to call when dealing with bear problems, and should help ease the minds of people living in bear country." The protocol signed today clarifies roles and responsibilities around responding to human-bear problems. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will respond to emergency bear calls and will call the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) for assistance if necessary. MNR will respond to non-emergency bear calls. The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), which represents municipal police agencies and the OPP, supports the protocol and will encourage member forces to use it as a template to reach agreements with municipal forces.(If the 'City Bear Huggers' had left northern folk and there bear hunts alone, there would be no need for a "Plan to deal with nuisance bears". Nuisance bears were not as much of a nuisance before the spring hunt cancellation resulted in 'thousands of more bears' roaming the countryside looking for food..  If the spring hunt cancellation is not causing a drastic increase in the number of bears, why in the hell do we need this "agreement"..  I don't think  an "Agreement" with the OPP is really needed! Northerners know how to shoot their own nuisance bears, and solve the problem once and for all..)
