GUN CONTROL:
Liberal Thinking: Death or injury to those who can't use martial arts or other non-lethal means of self-defense-- The young, the old, the infirm, the disabled, the weak, the small, and the pregnant--are simply the necessary sacrifice we must make to criminals, to avoid the risks of letting honest, law abiding people be armed.

OTTAWA (CP) - it's a little like comparing Glocks and Guernsies, but the Opposition is asking how the government came to spend more on guns than cows. Saskatchewan Tory MP Garry Breitkreuz has looked up some information he thinks points to the udder, er, utter futility of the gun registry. "The cattle industry can locate a cow in any barnyard in Canada in seconds in a system that cost about $8 million, but the billion-dollar gun registry still can't locate hundreds of thousands of gun owners and is missing millions of guns," Breitkreuz complains. Perhaps the answer is to arm all the cows.

Ontario commission tackles subtle racism

The Ontario Human Rights Commission has issued a new racism policy stressing the evils of subtle and systemic forms of discrimination. It retires the term "minority group" in favour of "racialized persons," a category that goes beyond skin colour and ethnic background. "Racialization extends to people in general but also to specific traits and attributes, which are connected in some way to racialized people and are deemed to be 'abnormal' and of less worth,'" it says. "Individuals may have prejudices related to various racialized characteristics." Those characteristics may include name, accent or manner of speech, clothing and grooming, diet, beliefs and practices, leisure preferences, places of origin and citizenship, it says. (MY leisure preferences are hunting, and target shooting, as well as metal detecting (yup, I'm one of those old farts on the beach with a metal detector) and Photography.. I hope McGuinty remembers the Ontario Human Rights "Racialized Persons" Policy the NEXT time he sends the OPP to ransack the home of someone that sends him a Angry email that contained no threats or intimidation's what-so-ever, JUST BECAUSE HE OWNS A FIREARM AND HIS LEISURE PREFERENCE IS HUNTING!!!!!)
Homolka seeks protection from media
Fearing for her life once she's released from prison, convicted killer Karla Homolka is going to court to seek an injunction that would ban media coverage of her. It asks that the media be prevented from taking her picture, contacting her or getting any information about her, including her address, telephone number, her movements and her relationships. "As far as I know, nothing has been done to safeguard my security after my release from prison, and the thought of being relentlessly pursued, hunted down and followed when I won't have any protection makes me fear for my life," Homolka writes in the affadavit. Homolka signed the court document under her legal name of Karla Leanne Teale. Homolka is expected to be released sometime in the next few days after serving a 12-year sentence for her role in raping and killing two teenage girls in the early 1990s. "I believe some people wish to do the public a favour by killing me,"(Gee!! Ya Think?) Homolka wrote in the affidavit. Homolka said the crimes she committed generated feelings of hate, horror, anger and vengeance, and media coverage has fed those sentiments. "These feelings have been fed and made worse over the years by the national and international press as well as internet sites around the world." (Well, she "fears for her life"! I wonder if she's as scared as her two young victims were before she and her asshole husband, raped and murdered them? As far as I'm concerned, she 'should' be looking over her shoulder every second she's loose in public. Two things would be accomplished here. First, it's unlikely she will be able to create 'more' victims while being watched, and second, she SHOULD live in fear for the rest of her miserable life. It's only fitting.. Seeing that the 'just-us' system screwed up immensely, while being headed by that staunch supporter of the liberal gun registry, Chief Vince Bevin(sp?) of  Ottawa. She says she has received assassination threats, but here's hoping no one actually stoops the 'her' level and takes her out. It's much better that she lives in fear, watching every shadow, and trusting no one for the balance of her useless existence. Perhaps she should do society a favour, by stepping off a bridge someplace, and do her part to become another meaningless Canadian statistic!)
Gun deaths in Canada trend downward even as shooting tragedies raise awareness
Gun-related homicides, suicides and accidents all declined in relation to the population size between 1979 and 2002, said the Statistics Canada study based on death certificates. But the report explicitly declines to link falling firearms mortality with tougher gun-control laws brought in during the same period. "You've got to remember there have been gun-control laws for most of this last century, of one sort or another," author Kathryn Wilkins said in an interview.(By far the largest number, and in fact the controlling numbers in these statistics, is the suicide numbers. suicide numbers are irrelevant, and should not even be included. Guns do not 'cause' suicides any more than ropes do. Gun suicides 'are' down, but rope suicides are 'way' up.. This, is probably a result of  the law abiding folks having a harder time in obtaining a firearms. This of course does not apply to the criminal who has 'no' trouble obtaining firearms in the vastly expanded, liberal created, black market. So, all this basically says, is that suicides with firearms are way down.. So what? This is supposed to make people feel better because suicides are now using the more politically correct 'rope' to dispatch themselves into the next  'whatever'? Take out the suicides, and you may find that non accidental gun related deaths are on the rise, just as most people suspected. Take out Gang Bangers shooting other Gang Bangers, (which is no real loss to society) and the numbers are STILL, meaningless..)
Florida Crime Down for 13th Straight Year
Serious crime in Florida dropped for the 13th straight year in 2004 to the lowest rate in 34 years, officials announced Thursday. Gov. Jeb Bush said tougher sentencing laws that increased prison terms for the most violent criminals were working. Rates for murder, rape, assault, major theft and other serious crimes dropped 6 percent from 2003 to 2004. Nonviolent crimes such as burglary and theft decreased 4 percent while violent crime showed a small decrease, 0.4 percent. The total number of tracked crimes also dropped — despite continued population growth in the state, according to data released by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.(Florida was the FIRST of 38 states to allow law abiding citizens to carry a concealed firearm for self defence, and now with increased prison terms, and the elimination of the legal requirement to run away when attacked. The poor criminal is no longer being protected by the state as they are in Canada. Why does 'disarmed' Canada have a rising crime rate?  As long as the  Canadian police keep recommending 'don't resist', 'don't fight back',  just hand over your property when confronted by a criminal. Along with a 'liberal' federal justice and court system that seems to assure the criminal, that if and when caught, he will be back on the street in most cases, before the cop that arrested him even has the paperwork done.  Canadians should not expect to be subjected to less crime for a long, long, time. If ever.. Feel safer yet?)
The Fighting Newfoundlanders
Ask a teen today about our war history or our military contributions around the world and you will most likely get a blank stare. This is due in part to our school system itself. A system that would rather discuss the merits of popular music than to delve into the history of our unsung heroes. It is also the fault of every one of us, every Father, Mother, Aunt or Uncle. The fact is, none of us are doing enough to keep the memories alive. There was a time when stories were handed down from generation to generation, today the only stories we see are on a  television screens. The interaction of people that used to ensure the spread of our culture through conversation and song has all but disappeared and with it so does our knowledge of the people and events in our history that we should all be proud of.  In this new fast paced world, it is not a stretch to see why the brave men and women who ensured our freedom on foreign shores often feel like outsiders and outcasts.(Successive liberal governments, starting with Trudeau and his failed attempt to destroy morale by unifying the forces in one drab uniform. To the ongoing systematic starving of all things military that we have seen from Chrétien, and now Martin. Have done much to alienate youth from all things military. Very very few politicians, were ever soldiers. Hence they feel soldiers, and the military in general, are nothing but sovereignty 'decorations' that must be 'put up with'. Plus, being great supporters of non-defence, public or private, they feel a "911" call to the U.S. is all the defence we need..)

Safe cities?
Some weeks ago Toronto’s chief of police, Bill Blair bragged about how Canada has the safest cities in the world. I would respectfully like to disagree. I’m sure that on the face of it, it would appear that Toronto is lot safer than, say Washington DC or Chicago. But given the fact that Canada has one of the most stringent set of gun control regulations in the world with the Government of Canada spending some $2 billion to date to ensure that every law-abiding gun owner have guns that are registered, I think Chief Blair’s comments are frankly delusional. I also believe that $2 billion might have been wiser spent had it been used to build new maximum security prisons for violent offenders. The recent spate of shootings that have wreaked havoc in Toronto are indicative of just how delusional our attitude toward crime is. In a country where the privilege of gun ownership is as restricted as it is in Canada, there shouldn’t be any gun violence in our cities at all. But then, this is not something that the powers that be are willing to concede.(This article is partially right.. The two billion dollars was wasted by the liberals (who are consistently voted back in by Torontonians by the way) was spent (besides the probable HUGE amount that went to line liberals friendly pockets) on 'controlling' duck hunters, target shooters and collectors. These folks own the firearms LEAST likely to ever be used in a crime. Had they spent the 2 billion dollars on a REAL justice system, not the catch and release liberal program now in effect. Or, beefing up security at the border to at least 'slow down'; the smuggling of firearms that end up being the REAL problem guns. Toronto might be a safer city today. But, as long as the liberals keep getting voted back in by Toronto, they should not expect to hear any decrease in the gunfire in and around the city anytime soon. As long as liberals are in power, there will always be more government sympathy for the criminals, than their victims. After all, the firearms act, and the gun registry have nothing to do with criminals anyway, except for the ones created by the act itself)
Cullen flops on gun registry
Bulkley Valley NDP MP Nathan Cullen neither admitted nor denied he broke his word by voting in favour of additional funds for the gun registry last week. It's hard for me to answer that yes or no," Cullen said. There was a higher purpose and my determination to see the end of the registry has increased." Cullen went against NDP policy by opposing the controversial gun registry in the past, but he voted in support of new funding for the registry last week in the House of Commons to avoid a Spring election. Prime Minister Paul Martin declared the motion for more gun registry funding as a vote of confidence in the federal government. Cullen said he understands why some people will view his actions as a flip-flop on the issue but it was more important for him to keep the federal government going.(When is comes to the lefties, it has nothing to do with what's 'right' or incredibly wasteful. It's all about power. The NDP feel empowered and they don't want the feeling to end.. Much like the liberals, once they have their hand in your pocket, it's virtually impossible to get them out. Nathan Cullen, has just proved himself to be another lying lefty that has no regard what-so-ever for what his constituents actually want. Now, it's up to his constituents to kick the liar out at the first possible opportunity)
PM, chief of staff will be investigated over Grewal tapes
OTTAWA (CP) - Prime Minister Paul Martin and Tim Murphy, his chief of staff, will be part of an investigation into the Grewal tape incident, says Ethics Commissioner Bernard Shapiro. Murphy won't be the formal target of the inquiry, but he will be looked at, Shapiro told a fractious meeting of the Commons ethics committee. Shapiro said his inquiry will focus on Tory MP Gurmant Grewal, Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh and the prime minister. He said the rules under which he operates mean Murphy can't be a primary focus of his investigation, even though Murphy was involved in taped conversations over Grewal switching parties. Grewal, who has been on stress leave for some weeks, recorded several sessions in which he discussed with Dosanjh and Murphy the prospects of joining the Liberals. Some MPs on the committee want Shapiro fired, saying they have no confidence in his handling of his job. (Gee who appointed Shapiro as "Ethics Commisioner" ?I beleive it was the Paul Martin and  his Liberals Wasn't it! Well then, we already know how 'this' is going to turn out don't we?)
Toronto area town announced as site of Canadian Live 8 concert
OTTAWA (USATODAY.com) — Canadian musical stars Gordon Lightfoot, Our Lady Peace, Bryan Adams and the Barenaked Ladies will be among those performing at the Canadian portion of the international Live8 concert event on July 2, organizers announced Tuesday. They will perform in a field called Park Place outside the small town of Barrie, about 62 miles north of Toronto in central Canada, said concert promoter Michael Cohl.(Thats right folks!! The concerts are in London, Paris, Tokyo, Brandenburg Gate Germany, and 'Barrie' Grin The FREE 35,000 tickets can be obtained online from TicketMaster starting (and probably ending) today.. Didn't get a ticket? Don't worry, the scalpers as usual, have probably snared the lions share, and will be available for whatever the market will bare. Which no doubt will be plenty!)
AG set for 2nd look at Gun Registry
Canada's federal spending watchdog is carrying out a secondary audit of the much-maligned gun registry. Auditor General Sheila Fraser confirmed in a letter to Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz her team is following up on the feds to see if they acted on recommendations from her December 2002 audit. In that report, Fraser exposed how the controversial program that was expected to cost $2 million ballooned to a staggering $1-billion or more. The so-called "boondoggle" fueled cries from critics like Breitkreuz to scrap the program. In her recent letter, Fraser said the status report isn't intended to be a comprehensive audit, but will address "additional issues." She expects to table the results with Parliament in February 2006. COST COMING DOWN (?) Subsequent independent estimates since 2002 have put the tally at $2 billion -- a figure the government has disputed. The program was originally slated to cost $2 million. Grilled on the "federal firearms fiasco" in the House of Commons yesterday, Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan insisted costs have consistently come down since 2000. The program now has an $85-million cap, and the operating budget for the entire program in 2005-06 is $82.5 million, she said. The registry component will be $15.7 million. Breitkreuz maintained the program is a waste. "How many lives could have been saved if we had spent this wasted billion on DNA analysis, cancer research or more police on the streets? The gun registry is either a huge scandal or gross incompetence."(It's BOTH.. A Huge scandal AND Gross incompetence. Based in the illogical concept of: Licence and Register the guns of Law Abiding Canadians, and crime will somehow be controlled. Well, crime is NOT being controlled and information from Statistics Canada now shows the people are right. The government is lying when it says 90% of the guns are registered, when in fact their is more than ample evidence that massive non compliance is rampant, and in all probability, less than 30% of all LEGALLY obtained firearms are registered. The entire thing is a sham, a complete farce. It's sole purpose in government, is to supply liberal friends with money making contracts on a scale that makes stolen 'adscam' money look like peanuts!)
External audit blasts gun registry
Costs for the controversial gun registry program could continue to "spiral out of control" unless the feds take critical steps to curb spending, an external audit warns. The report compiled by Hill and Knowlton for the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, obtained under Access to Information by Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz, recommends the feds shift the pricey Canada Firearms Centre to a larger department to wrestle down costs. The report from last April censors several key sections, including a list of areas of concern for "financial risk" and possible measures for improvement, but notes the issues must be carefully managed and decisions made urgently. "Otherwise, the costs will continue to spiral out of control," the report warns. Breitkreuz called the report an "indictment" of a failed program that should be scrapped immediately. COMMITMENT TO 'TRANSPARENCY'  Slamming the reams of information that have been blacked out in the 40-page document, Breitkreuz said the censoring is a deliberate attempt to keep the public in the dark about a badly managed "fiasco." Originally pegged at $2 million, the cost of the program has ballooned to a staggering $2 billion by some estimates. Alex Swann, spokesman for Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan whose department oversees the program, said the concept of a centre with its own reporting regime is part of the government's commitment to "transparency" in accounting costs to Parliament. (Martins "Commitment to Transparency" seems to keep things like this and many other financial fiascos, virtually 'invisible' to the taxpayer. Every single study, audit, investigation, or committee findings on the operation, effectiveness, and value received, has been censored, covered up, or simply made a cabinet secret. The whole department was started based on lies to the people, police, parliament, and most of there own members as well. It was initially funded under the table by the liberals, because once people found out about the lack of effectiveness, and utter uselessness of this bloated bureaucracy the people would, as they are now, start demanding accountability, and they elimination of this expensive farce. Are the liberals listening Nope.. Never have , never will.. As long as their in power, their committed to the waste and their many liberals financing friends who are supplying the 'services'(?) .. Just like adscam, or Much much bigger!)
Liberals Survive their own Dilemma
The Liberals faced a handful of votes on money bills, including two on funding for the gun registry that they captured with support from the Bloc Quebecois and NDP.(If the Bloc wants the gun registry so bad, why not just apply it to Quebec? As for the NDP? Being a purely 'socialist' party, they would support anything that gives government control of peoples right and freedoms regardless of cost!)
Budget Votes Ahead For Liberals
MPs will be casting their annual votes for the Commons to approve the $187-billion in operational funds required by the federal government. The public service would be unable to function without parliamentary approval of the money, which is known as supply or the main estimates. The opposition can challenge certain aspects of the spending and the Conservatives have so far given notice that they will force votes on the Privy Council Office's $125-million budget, as well as two separate votes granting money for the federal gun registry. It is expected that Mr. Valeri will declare those votes to be matters of confidence in the government.(They really don't expect the CPC to vote 'for' gun registry funding do they? Just the fact that the Bloc, NDP, and most of the dumber Liberals support this farce is maddening enough. It just goes to show you, even though OVERWHELMING evidence shows the public thinks this is a HUGE waste, the political trough wallowers will push it through, because it's hard to give up their addiction to the money, and commitments to political friends, even though there is no evidence what-so-ever that this registry is of any use to anybody except those who like to be in 'control' of people!)

Are you planning to have pictures developed at Walmarts South Barrie Location?
The manager at that location has taken it upon himself, to report pictures of firearms to the police, and/or demanding that you show your PAL before they will develop them. I assume the police at his request, will then attempt to verify your registrations as they have done to one hapless LEGAL firearms owner who made the mistake of being a Walmart customer.
Want to tell Walmart what you think of 'this' managers anti firearm bias?
