The actual score was Florida State 48, N. C. State 35.

Usually N. C. State needs three seasons to score 35 points on the Seminoles, but the Wolfpack put that many on the board in four quarters on Saturday, despite the anticipations of our best prognosticators. "RALAMORE" was top of the field this week with a difference of 12.37. It was his (her?) first finish in the top five, as it was also for Saab Siddiqui (2nd, 14.21), James McCoy (3rd, 14.32), "Sperrl" (4th, 17.03), and Nikk Pilato (5th, 18.25).

As always, thanks to everyone for playing.

My apologies for the late results; I got caught up in being sick and in helping Florida State host the Atlantic Coast Conference Cross-Country Championships. N. C. State won both the men's and women's championships for the third straight year, by the way, crushing all comers. If this keeps up, we can cancel next year's meet and just mail the trophies to Raleigh. Well, not quite; indiviudal honors went to John Cline of UNC in the men's race and Wake Forest's Janelle Kraus in the women's event.

But to return to the PrediXn Derby, this week is the overly-hyped match up of Florida State and North Carolina at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill. Very few people lack an opinion on this game. Florida State fans and Tarheel-haters are hoping for a Seminole win. UNC fans and Seminole-haters are hoping for a Tarheel win. And a significant minority is hoping that Kenan Memorial will be demolished by an asteroid as both teams take the field. Whatever your sympathies, if you have a theory as to what the final score will be, e-mail it to me at:

Put something like "FSU @ UNC" in the subject line so I know it's a predixn and not more weeping and wailing about the Florida-Georgia game. Send your predixn early enough so that it gets here before kickoff, 7:30 PM EST on Saturday, November 4. All timely entries will be recorded to be scored and ranked following the game. Results will be posted to the newsgroup alt.sports.football.college.fsu-seminoles following the outcome of the game (hopefully not as late after the game as this set of results).

Good luck!

Herb Wills, HWILLS@FREENET.TLH.FL.US
