The actual score was Florida State 35, Clemson 28.

J. McGee had the clearest crystal ball this week, winning the predixn derby with a creditable difference of only 4.47. He was well ahead of the rest of the top five, who fought tooth and nail for their respective positions--Scott Kramer and Tony Patterson tied for second (8.06), while fourth and fifth place went to Ron Smith (8.25) and Bob Laffen (8.94).

Most everyone else suffered from predicting either a runaway victory by the Seminoles, or a close game won by the Tigers. In the end, the few that predicted a close win by Florida State garnered all of this week's glory, and the rest of us had scores like 18.00.

Here are the champions from games I through III:

If you want to try to make this august list, your next chance is the Florida State - Miami game, being fought in Tallahassee's Doak Campbell Stadium on October 4. Miami is sputtering a bit, having dropped their last game to Pittsburgh. Of course, Florida State has its own problems. But I'm through giving you clues, just send your predixn to:

HWILLS@FREENET.TLH.FL.US

Make sure you put something like "FSU vs. UM" in the subject field so I'll know it's not a late entry for the Florida State - Southern Cal game. With almost two weeks till game time it seems silly to say this, but make sure you send your predixn so that it gets to me before kickoff, which will be at noon EDT on Saturday, October 4. Entries received before the deadline will be scored and ranked, with the results to be posted in this alt.sports.football.college.fsu-seminoles, just like the ones above. They'll also eventually make their way to the predixn derby web site at http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Arena/5177/.

Thanks to everyone who played!

Herb Wills, HWILLS@FREENET.TLH.FL.US
