The game wasn't what anyone expected, but it was closest to the expectations of Danielle Galvin, who took the top spot in this week's derby with her predixn of 21-14, about 9.90 off the actual score of 14-7. She was well ahead of the rest of the top five, Mark Weaver (14.32), Pia Lehtonen (15.65), Bill Lott (16.40), and Robert Kerr and Ed Bettinger (17.20).
Predixns did not run particularly close this week. Usually it takes a difference of less than 5.00 to make it into the top five. Let's blame it on opening game jitters. Personally, I'm using Thad Busby's bad ankle as my excuse. Meanwhile, note that neither of the picks I took out of the press would have cracked the top ten:
John Nogowski (Tallahassee Democrat) FSU 27 SC 22 19.85 Richard Rosenblatt (Associated Press) FSU 35 SC 28 29.70Maybe they outperformed Lee Corso.
Next week the Seminole coaching staff will make some offensive adjustments as the team gets ready to host the Maryland Terrapins in Doak Campbell stadium. Make some adjustments to your prognosticating skills, then send your predixn for the score of FSU - Maryland to:
You know the drill: put something like "FSU vs UMd" in the subject line so I know it's not just someone dissing my 31-21 predixn for yesterday's contest. Send your e-mail early enough that your entry gets to me before kickoff on Saturday, September 13 at 3:30 PM EDT. Predixns received before the deadline will be recorded to be scored and ranked following the outcome of the game. The results will be posted in alt.sports.football.college.fsu-seminoles and other fine newsgroups.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to enter a predixn this week!
