June 1861

 

Sat 1 - Finished Eliza's dress and glad am I that it is. Saturday night -- looked for Cal but he did not come.

 

Sun 2 - Rained so that I could not go to church. Libbie Beach and husband and brother have been here. Went down to the sing, a fine one.

 

Mon 3 - Sewing and Eliza done a large wash. This afternoon she and Plina [Wilmot] and the two children have gone to Westfield. Martha and Emma are here.

 

Tues 4 - Done the housework and sewed some. They got home at 9 o'clock. Am tired to death. Wish I could see Lib.

 

Wed 5 - Have been sewing all day. Plina [Wilmot] and Robert have been shearing sheep. What a long day it has been.

 

Thur 6 - Making Delis a shirt. In the afternoon went up to Harry's then went home with Mrs. Butts. Sleeping with Mary.

 

Fri 7 - Sewing. Trimmed Eliza a shaker and cleaned. Plina [Wilmot] come and brought me up to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s. Another six days work is done and glad was I.

 

Sat 8 - no entry

 

Sun 9 - Went to Beebetown to meeting with Dry and Tim. Saw Gil for the first time since Lib went away. Am going to write to Lib.

 

Mon 10 - Commenced my dress. Mrs. Wilmot and Mrs. Barber have been here a visiting. Dry has been white washing and Tim cleaning the woodwork.

 

Tues 11 - Tim and I got up at 4 o'clock and went to washing. This afternoon we have been to work on my dress.

 

Wed 12 - Dry, Tim and Chub have been to Medina. Got me a bonnet -- price $4.56. Come back to Geo Walker's and spent the afternoon.

 

Thur 13 - Ironed in the forenoon. In the afternoon went to Beebetown to the pole raising. Saw lots of folks.

 

Fri 14 - Have been sewing on a pair of pants for Dry. Nett [Wait] come up to spend the afternoon. Cut her hair. Called on Lottie Strong for the first time. [Did Lottie Stow marry a man named Strong?]

 

Sat 15 - Finished Dry's pants. Mother and Aunt Fanny Peck called a little while. Put has gone to Royalton.

 

Sun 16 - Did not go to church. Went down to the sing. Called on Sarah Bryan. She is a little better. Went for a short ride with Lewis.

 

Mon 17 - Tim and I have done a large wash. The men have been to work on the road. Worked a little while on my dress.

 

Tues 18 - Tim and I have been down to Williard's all day. Made the sleeves to my dress. Eliza Peck called to invite us to a quilting.

 

Wed 19 - Helped Tim do housework in the forenoon. In the afternoon went down to Aunt Fanny [Peck]'s to a quilting.

 

Thur 20 - Mrs. Wait and Eliza Peck was here to dinner. To our great surprise who should get out of the stage but Frank T. [Tillotson?] and daughter Caroline.

 

Fri 21 - Went over home to visit with Libbie Thomas. Sherm [Thomas?] has gone to Liverpool. Am staying at home tonight.

 

Sat 22 - Sherm and Libbie [Thomas] did not go home until this afternoon. Put, Cora and I have been down to see them train. Cora's hat trimmed.

 

Sun 23 - Went down to church with Ma and Put. Went up to Plina [Wilmot]'s and staid to the sing. Saw Gil and Alfred also Miss Delia Tersil.

 

Mon 24 - Tim and I have been washing. Ma come up this afternoon to have me cut Put a pair of pants and put in the pockets.

 

Tues 25 - Ironed. The rest of the time have been sewing. Frank and Eva have got back from York. Emeline has got another boy.

 

Wed 26 - Washed some for Frank and Eva and finished my dress. Eva and I are staying at Uncle Leonard's tonight.

 

Thur 27 - Nett [Wait] and I have been down to Mr. Wait's. Had a good visit and come home in the rain.

 

Fri 28 - Frank, Dry and Eva have been to Liverpool. Tim and I have been down to Nett [Wait]'s and called on Hattie's school.

 

Sat 29 - Worked around the house all the forenoon. This afternoon have been making a lounge cover. George Walker and his wife are here.

 

Sun 30 - Went to Brunswick to meeting with Ma and Eva. Went over to Mrs. Wait's with John [Wait]. This eve have been riding with my old friend Will Ritter.
