December 1861

Sun 1 - Stayed to Em[ily]'s singing with George [Prichard] and Rattie. Snowed like fun all day. We all went up to Mr. Wadsworth's and spent the eve.

Mon 2 - Rattie come and brought me up to Chet's in the morning. Hattie was washing. Oh how cold it is. Received a letter from Mother, also one from Cordia [Cordelia Prichard].

Tues 3 - Sewing on Hattie's dress. In the afternoon Hat and I went over to John [Prichard]'s. Went to a dance in the evening with Thomas and Sarah.

Wed 4 - Did not get home until 4 o'clock this morning. Nearly froze. Went down to Garrettsville with Chet to see Hattie.

Thur 5 - Helping Hattie do housework some while Hattie (Chester?) takes care of the butchering. Killed 3 hogs, big one. Louisa and Matilda Bills come over and spent the eve.

Fri 6 - I have been ironing and sewing. Hattie has been trying lard. Chet got mad and threw the tins out doors because they was hot.

Sat 7 - Finished Hattie's dress. In the afternoon went over to see Louisa Bills. Set up until 12 o'clock hearing Hattie read aloud. (wonderful)
