July 1861

 

Mon 1 - Helped Tim wash. This afternoon come over home to help Ma make Put a pair of pants.

 

Tues 2 - Finished Put's pants and put down the carpet. Dry and Tim was there to tea. Come home with Tim. Uncle Dan [Tillotson] has been to carry Frank [Tillotson?] to Cleveland.

 

Wed 3 - Making cake and cleaned. Dry has been making a cheese press. How my head aches.

 

Thur 4 - Went to Brunswick to the great celebration. Had a very good time. Went to the dance in the evening. Hall crowded full. Got home at 2 o'clock.

 

Fri 5 - Have not done much today. Harry called on his way home. Hattie come up and stayed all night.

 

Sat 6 - Tim and I have made a cheese--the first one I ever made. Went down to Nett [Wait]'s just at night.

 

Sun 7 - Did not go to church it was so warm. I have been so lonely all day. How many times I have thought of Lib today.

 

Mon 8 - What a warm day. Tim and I have been washing. John [Wait?] come up just at night. He is going to work for [brother] William.

 

Tues 9 - Ironed all the forenoon. This afternoon Tim and I have been to work at carpet rags. Went down to Nett [Wait]'s just at night with John [Wait].

 

Wed 10 - Sewing and taking care of Baby. Have been down to Mr. Byran's with Will. Just got home 12 o'clock. Almost froze.

 

Thur 11 - Come up to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s in the morning. Found them all cross as fury. Who cares - not I. I have been twisting carpet yarn.

 

Fri 12 - Have been over home doubling yarn. Made Mother a head dress. Tim come over a little while. Dry has been after cabbage plants.

 

Sat 13 - Made a cheese. Lew was here to dinner. Tim and I have been down to Henry Webb's to make a call.

 

Sun 14 - Went down to Church with Dry and Tim then come back to Mr. Stevens and staid to the sing. Had a very good one.

 

Mon 15 - Tim and I have been washing. Ma come up a little while. Have been most sick. Wish I was dead, yes I do.

 

Tues 16 - Ironed in the forenoon. This afternoon have been twisting carpet yarn. Lewis is staying here tonight.

 

Wed 17 - Sick all the forenoon. Aunt [Almira Tillotson] came up and brought Carrie [Caroline Tillotson] up to stay a few days.

 

Thur 18 - Twisting carpet yarn. Tim, Carrie and Chub went over home. Carrie and I are staying here tonight. Went up town.

 

Fri 19 - Helped Ma wash and make a cheese. Come over to Tim's after tea. It looks very much like rain.

 

Sat 20 - Made a cheese and sewed some for myself. Put and I went to carry Carrie home. How cool it is tonight.

 

Sun 21 - Tina and I went down to church afoot. Tim rode home with Lewis and I went to Mr. Barber's and staid to the sing.

 

Mon 22 - Carrie [Caroline Tillotson] was married at 8 o'clock [to Amos Woodruff]. Washing as a matter of course. This afternoon Tim and I have been picking currants for jelly. I am sleepy. Got up so early.

 

Tues 23 - Ironed this forenoon. This afternoon Tim and I have been visiting to Nett [Wait]'s. Am staying to Nett's tonight.

 

Wed 24 - Done a washing for Nett [Wait] this afternoon have been sewing on a pair of pants for [brother] William. J.P. Ward gave us a short call.

 

Thur 25 - Come up to Tim's this morn. Had a house full of company. Mary and Hattie Stevens, Sarah Butts, Lucy Trees and the two Collyer girls. Had a good time. Nine year's today since Dan died.

 

Fri 26 - Felt rather down all day. This afternoon Aunt Fanny and Eliza Peck have been here. Hattie come up after school. All went over to George B. to a sing. Had a good one.

 

Sat 27 - Tim, Dry and Chub went to Weymouth to see Orinda's Uncle and cousin. Got home at 6 o'clock. Made a cheese. Will come up tonight. Went out a riding. Come back to Nett's to stay all night.

 

Sun 28 - Staid to Nett's until noon. Come up to Tim's. Washed and combed my hair then went to the sing. Had a good one.

 

Mon 29 - Have been washing. There was a man and his little girl staid here from Cleveland last night. Becca [Rebecca M.] Goodrich has got a pair of twins, girls, born Saturday night.

 

Tues 30 - Ironing. In the afternoon Dry and Tim went to Strongsville and I went over home. Put and I went over to see Sarah. No better.

 

Wed 31 - Spent the day with Mother. Dr. Herrick called to see Father. He is not as well. Left me some medicine. Been sick all day.
