Lizard

The Giver of Dreams and Shadows, The Keeper of the Future -- Lizard bridges the gulf between Dream and Reality.

Small one-room cave-shrines populate the perimeter of the cavern. Each is lit by candles which spread their glow into the shadowy region between them and the cavern's center. An aura of reverence emanates from each. The air almost shimmers with the manna of past rituals. You are alone, but are not alone. Spirits of all description walk with you.

Each Shrine has within it a small table which holds several white candles. The table is draped by cloths, each with different symbols, patterns or colors depending on the dedication of the individual Shrine.

Directly in front of the table in each Shrine is a cushioned kneeling rail for prayer and an ornate patterned prayer rug. It is your choice to use whichever is more comfortable, or more in tune with the rituals of the Shrine. Cushions scattered near the walls and are used for sitting upon.

Each table holds a silver bell, book and a symbol specific to that Shrine. Incense burns the air with fragrance and tunes the vibrations of the mind. A frame drum and a tamborine lean against the rail. A silver platter with engraved symbols, a representation of Goddess or a scene from a story or legend adorning it rests on floor to either side of the table. The one on the left holds a small cut-glass decanter of fresh water. The one on the right carries several small vials of essential oils.

There are four types of Shrines, one dedicated to a specific incarnation of Goddess, one consecrated as a memorial to those beings close to us that have crossed the threshold between Life and death, one blessed for special prayers, and one embodying the rituals we use to worship Goddess.

Incarnation Shrines contain a small statue representing the Goddess acknowledged. Written in the books within these caves are the stories, legends and beliefs related to that Goddess incarnation.

Memorial Shrines hold a photograph, drawing or other representation of the dead. Sometimes they have a special object that held special meaning for the deceased. Written in the Book within these Shrines are the words the Dedicator has used to consecrate this space.

Prayer Shrines have written in their Books the special prayer that someone wanted to dedicate to Goddess. They might also contain an object or symbol related to the prayer or the specific Goddess incarnation invoked.

Ritual Shrines have the entire Ritual written out in the Book. Everything needed to perform the ritual is there for contemplative purposes.
