The Altar

You are almost within the circle of light that surrounds the altar when you suddenly become aware of a power emanating from the shadows in the air above the altar. Straining your eyes you marvel to behold what appears to be tiny stars in a portal opening into the darkness of outer space. Coming closer you realize that what you see is not a miraculous portal, but a wonderfully gigantic onyx-stone of the blackest hue hanging above the altar. The onyx is polished smooth, is egg-shaped and is held up by silk cords that disappear into the darkness above. The candlelight from below reflects from the onyx surface as if stars in the night.

The altar itself is simple -- a short column of solid marble, dark grey to black streaked with white. It rises from a thick, plush, multi-colored rug. A green felt cloth covers the top. A nine prong gold candelabra provides light to the center of the altar top. Placed reverently in the middle is a massive tome, open and waiting. A silver bell on a gold platter stands on the right of the tome, an silver (blade) and bronze (hilt) dagger lies in another gold platter on the left. In front of the tome a quill pen rests next to a large inkwell of india ink.

The tome is for you to inscribe your prayers to Goddess, your rituals that help you attune closer to Goddess, your memorials in remembrance of beings close to you that are not with you anymore, or your dedication (description) of your patron Goddess. Once recorded your words will be transformed into another of the Shrines that radiate from this cavern. You may come to visit your Shrine at any time, and you will have helped yourself and others to more fully realize the Oneness we share.
