Shrine of Uttu

Incarnation of Goddess

Uttu

Goddess of the Web.

A delicate platinum spiderweb hangs above the table in this shrine. A potted fern stands on either side of the prayer rail. The cloths covering the table are mostly black with fragile white web designs between stylized green fern borders. Behind the Book a carved jet spider hides in the shadows of the candlelight upon a web of platinum. On the wall behind the table hangs an exquisitely woven tapestry depicting the modern incarnation of Uttu -- a four-armed Woman sitting crosslegged in front of a starburst holding a web, which has it's points at each of Her hands and feet.

Written in the Book are these words:

Uttu: Goddess of Weaving. Goddess of Plants. Goddess of Spiders. Goddess of Fertility. Goddess of the new Web -- the World Wide Web.

Uttu weaves her magick subtly, but thoroughly. Traditionally Uttu is the patron of weavers, of the plants around the living area, and of the master weavers - the spiders. She has come to embrace the new Web and the new weavers. Uttu is the patron of the creator of intricate WWW-layout designs. Uttu holds the web-making Spider special among all beings.

Uttu is represented by the metal Platinum, by the colors Black, Green & White, by the shape of the Web, the Stylized Spider, the Stylized Fern & by a Four-Armed Woman with a Web, by the music of the Wind Chime, by the gem Jet, and by the magick of the World Wide Web. Uttu is heard in the Rustle of Plants, and She is seen in the Spider's Web, and in the Interconnectivity of All Things.
