Some of My Photos from Austin's Carnaval Brasileiro
Oba! The thumbnails on this page are links

I've worn throughout the years.

2000 and before
2001
I've made my own outfits (and a few for others) and most are inspired by
photos or drawings found in magazines or books. I usually buy fabrics
from clearance tables, store them, and stitch them later, combining elements from different patterns -
I rarely follow any one pattern to achieve the end results.

I have lots more photos, but tried to pick the ones most representative
of this outrageous annual party. I have many memories as well *sigh*
like the time Rey and I went to Houston for the Carnaval there,
the year he died. I'll never forget the expressions on the faces
of the folks there
when we walked in - I was in drag (lime green, I think) and Rey was mostly naked...
everyone else was in formal gowns, tuxedos, and rented costumes!
Talk about breaking the ice! We were accepted and welcomed,
and after an initial awkwardness (and strong desire to run, screaming for the exit)
we had a great time!!!
Have a great time viewing the photos and remember: "Judge not, lest ye be judged."
