Carnaval 2000 was held over two nights this year, for the first time in its 22 year history. I was fortunate enough to win two pairs of tickets to Friday night, but had to buy my tickets for Saturday night. Thanks to KOOP-91.7's Zein and her 'Dance around the World' program, as well as to Fox 7 for making it possible!
Carnaval 2000 featured 13 members (out of 320+ members) of the samba
school, Portela, direct from Rio de Janeiro. What a sound experience!

I dressed rather conservatively (for me) on Friday night, as I took a friend who until then was a Carnaval 'virgin'. No need to scare the poor boy!! *lol*
As in recent years past, tickets were sold out well in advance of Saturday
night!
Because Carnaval is so popular, scalpers were everywhere1 I finally
convinced one to buy my two extra tickets for their face value so I could
go in and join the fun. Pictured below is yours truly and my 'date'
for the evening. I took an existing outfit and wore something different
underneath to give it a different look. I also added the arm ruffles
and cowboy hat. I thought of wearing a thong instead of briefs, but
Coach just isn't that brave ... yet!!!!.
