Night Train

Jim and Blair are ordered to return a protected witness to Cascade for the trial of Edward Murdock. Murdock is accused of torching one of his hotels to get the insurance money for other projects. The hotel burning killed seventeen people. The witness, Derek Wilson was Murdock’s accountant.

Blair isn’t given any details of the case until both he and Jim are on board the train and the train is in route to Cascade. Officials don’t want to take any chances with their witness as it’s been rumored Murdock has placed a hit on Wilson. To further complicate matters, Jim is battling a cold and refuses any suggestions from Blair on natural remedies. Instead, he takes some over-the-counter cold medicine, which sends his senses overboard.

Despite everyone’s best efforts, information on Wilson and the train he’s on leaks out and it has been confirmed a killer is on board the train. Simon phones Jim with the information and leaves Cascade to meet the train at the one stop it will make before reaching Cascade. Jim gets thrown from the train fighting with two men he believes are there to kill his witness. Actually, Wilson has hired a team to help him escape protective custody and leave the country with the money he skimmed from Murdock. Wilson escapes by handcuffing Blair and Wilson’s attorney, Isabel Kane, to the seat and hijacks the train.

Meanwhile, Jim has been hanging on to chains underneath the train and trying to get some control back of his senses. Remembering a test by Sandburg, Ellison gets some control back as the medicine is flushed from his system. He gets back on board the train in time to see Wilson and his cohorts blast through a police blockade at the town of Brackendale and Wilson then disconnects the train from the engine.

Jim and Simon catch up to the engine and Jim is successful in getting control of the situation.
