-Quibbler, The: Magazine owned by Mr.
Lovegood. Not many people in the wizarding community trust what it says.
Etim. To quibble means to evade the
truth or importance of an issue by raising trivial distinctions and objections.
A quibble is an archaic term for a pun.
-Quick-Quotes Quill: Rita Skeeter's note-taking quill that twists the
truth.
-Quidditch: Wizarding sport played by two
teams flying on broomsticks. There are two balls: the red Quaffle, the two black
Bludgers that try to throw players from their brooms and the golden Snitch. Each
team has seven players: three Chasers, two Beaters, a Keeper and a Seeker. The
Chasers try to get the Quaffle past the Keeper into one of three hoops at either
end of the field, earning 10 points for each score. The Beaters hit the
violent Bludgers towards the opposing team with their bats. The Seeker looks for
the fast Snitch. The game ends when one of the Seekers finds the Snitch. The
team whose Seeker found the small ball earns an extra 150 points.

Sonorus (which magnifies voice).
-Quigley: Beater for Ireland.

-Ravenclaw: One of the four Houses at
Hogwarts.
The Sorting Hat describes Ravenclaws in this way: "...Or yet in

If you rearrange the letters it spells: "I

-Room of Requirement: room in Hogwarts that turns into any room
you need it to be. You have to walk three times across certain part of the wall
while thinking what you need the room to be to make its door appear.
-Ronan: A readheaded centaur.
Etim. An Irish saint.
-Ryan: Keeper for Ireland

Eldred Worple's vampire friend. Comes from Spanish
sangre, blood.
-Scabbers:
Ron's
rat. It isn't really a rat: it's Peter Pettigrew as an animagus.
-Scamander, Newton Artemis Fido: Author of
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
-Sectumsempra: Spell that slashes a person's front and face.
-Shacklebolt, Kingsley: Order of the Phoenix member.
-Sickle:
wizards' currency. Seventeen silver sickles make a galleon.
-Skeeter, Rita: A reporter for the Daily
Prophet that twists
lies into her news stories.
Etim. "Skeeter" is short for
"mosquito." As most people can attest, mosquitoes are among the most annoying
life forms on this planet.
*-Slughorn,
Horace: Ex Head of Slytherin. Potions professor in HBP. He has a
"collection" of students (Slug Club) that have important connections.
-Slytherin:
One of the four Houses at Hogwarts.
The Sorting Hat describes Slytherins in this
way: "...Or perhaps in Slytherin/ You'll make your real friends,/ Those
cunning folk use any means/ To acheive their ends..."
Head of House: Prof. Snape.
House Colors: Silver and green
House Animal: Snake
House Ghost: Bloody Baron.
-Smeltings: Dudley's school.

Hepzibah: Very rich witch, murdered by Voldemort becase she owned two things
he was particularly interested in: Helga Hufflepuff's goblet and Slytherin's
locket.
-Snape, Severus: Potions master at
Hogwarts and Head of Slytherin House. Loathes Harry.
Etim. Severe means "to cut off".
Severe also means cruel, strict. In ancient history, Lucius Septimius Severus
restored stability to the Roman Empire after the tumultuous reign of the emperor
Commodus (See Albus) and the civil wars that
erupted in the wake of Commodus' murder.
Snape is a
town in England.
-Sonorus: Spell used to magnify voice.
Countercharm: Quietus.
-Spinnet, Alicia: Chaser for
Gryffindor.G
-Sprout, Pomona : Herbology
professor at Hogwarts and Head of Hufflepuff House.
-St. Brutus's Secure Center for Incurably Criminal Boys: school the
Dursleys pretend Harry goes to during the year.
-Stoatshead Hill: Hill near Ottery Stt. Cathchpole.
