-Dementors: Hooded creatures that feed on human happines and suck out all
the cheer and hope from the air around them. They guard Azkaban
but, in OotP, went onto Voldemort's side.

Nick.
-Densaugeo: Spell that Malfoy used that
made Hermione's teeth grow.
-Diagon Alley:
main street of the wizarding world in London. You get there by going to the
courtyard at the back of the Leaky Cauldron and
tapping the wall in the right places.
Etim. Sounds like diagonally.
-Diffindo: Spell Harry used to make Cedric's
bag split apart.
-Diggory, Amos: works for the Department for the Regulation and Control
of Magical Creatures. Cedric's father.
-Diggory, Cedric: Hufflepuff Seeker.

Hogwarts student.
-Dragon: Animal sort of like a dinosaur that exhales fire through its
mouth.

Hogwarts' Headmaster. Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorceror, Chief
Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confederation of Wizards.
Etim. Albus:
In Latin means white (maybe for white beard)

Governor of Britain at the death of the emperor Pertinax, Decimus Clodius
Albinus (Albinus=Albus?) attempted to seize the throne but ended up as Caesar in
alliance with another imperial contender, Septimius Severus. After Severus
defeated two other rivals, the now
expendable Albinus was forced into another attempt at usurpation, an attempt
that came to an end at the bloody battle of Lyon.
Dumbledore:
"bumblebee" in Old English.
-Durmstrang:
Wizarding school from somewhere cold (as we see from their clothing), probably
Bulgaria or Norway.
Etim.
"Sturm und drang" is German phrase
meaning storm and stress. It was also an important artistical current.
-Dursleys: Muggle family related to Harry.
They hate him, and he hates them.
Etim. Dursley is a town near
J.K. Rowling's birthplace.
-Dursley, Dudley: Harry's fat cousin.
He goes to Smeltings, his father's old school.
-Dursley, Vernon: Harry's uncle. He
works at a drill company and he disapproves of wizards and imagination.
-Dursley, Petunia: Vernon's wife. See
Petunia Evans.

-Edgecomb, Marietta: Cho's
friend. An year older than Harry.
She told Umbridge about the DA.
Etim.
Marietta means "Little Bitter."
-Ennervate:
Revives someone stunned.
-Erised,
Mirror of:
A mirror that shows your deepest desire. It was
used to hide the Philosopher's Stone; you could only retrieve it if you wished
it, but didn't wish to use it.
Etim. Its whole name is
Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi (backwards, that says "I show
not your face but your heart's desire").
-Errol: The Weasleys old, battered owl.
-Evans, Lily:
Harry's mother, married with
James Potter. See Potters.
-Evans, Mark: Standby character that is not
of Lily or Petnia's family and has no great importance to the plot.
-Evans, Petunia: A nosy Muggle, Harry's
uncle (Lily's sister).
-Expelliarmus: Disarming spell.
