Newfoundland joins confederation in 1949. Newfoundland has a long history, producing their own coins and stamps until 1949. Newfoundland is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, and Labrabor borders Quebec.

  • The largest community in Newfoundland is St John's a population of 99 182. While the metro area is about 172 918, Newfoundlands total population of 512 930. Labrador is 27 864. Life in Newfoundland & Labrador has been shaped by the natural environment. The ocean has been the way of life. Newfoundland has a short growing season, the soil, not very good, long winters and harsh weather, including cold temperatures, fierce storms, fog, strong winds and heavy precipitation. The land has poor drainage, cold currents and offshore ice packs and icebergs. A harsh climate but one of the most beautiful on earth. The early settlers choose to stay and survived by way of the marine life.

  • Coat of Arms - Motto Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, first granted in 1637 were rediscovered and officially adopted by the Newfoundland Government on January 1, 1928
