British Columbia
British Columbia became a province in 1871 when it joined confederation. British Columbia consists of: 95 000 000 hectares, 10% of Canada's land surface. Mixed with rain forest, desert, and snowy mountains, bordered east by the province of Alberta, and to the west by the Pacific Ocean.

- The largest community in British Columbia is Vancouver. British Columbia has a population of 4 096 000 (2001) . The cool temperature in winter is the result of the northern location exposed by the cold arctic air masses. In summer very warm weather.
