Washington, D.C. (AP)- The Real American drew both
criticism and praise in
Washington on Wednesday when he turned in two
criminals wanted in connection
with a series of high-profile burglaries.
After an eventful chase and short battle in the
streets, The Real American
emerged victorious in his debut as a crime-fighter.
He turned over the
criminal partners known as Panda and Raccoon to
federal authorities shortly
after.
In a press conference held after, The Real American,
whose real name is
Lester Simpson, said "I am very happy about my
performance out there. It's
not like I saved the world from those two clowns,
but The Real American paid
his dues in the world of wrestling, and I need to
pay my dues in the world
of super heroes. It's a good start."
Critics continue to barrage the former professional
wrestler with
accusations that his agenda is only to promote
himself in the wake of a
failed acting career. "I think that's totally
unfair," said Simpson, "I'm
here to fill a void. Hopefully, I'll be given the
opportunity to make a big
difference in the world by fighting crime. But even
if I'm not, The Real
American is a great role-model for the kids. I have
values, I don't quit,
and I want to make this country and the world a
better place for all
mankind."
