Washington, DC (AP) - Former professional wrestler
Lester Simpson, better
known as "The Real American" Terror Jenkins,
announced Tuesday that he
intends to start a new career as a professional
superhero.
Simpson claims to have gone through a number of
experimental procedures
designed to increase strength and stamina to super
human proportions. "I
felt like the hard working American people have
given me so much, it is time
that I gave back to them," said Simpson, who also
commented that he did not
advocate others attempting to follow in his
footsteps.
On his reasons for his decision, Simpson cited that
"The death of Captain
Infinity left an absence that none of us can
replace. But I would like to
help make Americans feel safe again. Evil has been
running rampant through
our streets, on our airwaves, in our schools. But
no more, now evil has to
deal with the Real American." In his trademark
fashion, he added "Evil -
Whatcha gonna do when Terror runs rampant through
you?"
Despite local polling showing up to a 78% approval
rate of "The Real
American," he is not without his detractors.
Congressman Abel Franklin of
New York dismissed the actions of Simpson as
"shameless self-promotion." He
went on to say that "Jenkin's (Simpson's) actions
are deplorable and
irresponsible. He presents himself as a person that
will go to any lengths
to gain media attention."
