Snoop Dogg Meets Dr. Dre (In Snoop's Words)
That first meeting I had with the Doctor was up at Death Row?s brand-new office in Hollywood & I?d be lying if I didn?t tell you I was nervous as hell. Like every other nigga in America, just about all Id been listening to for the past year was music that Dre had either written, produced, recorded, or performed & it felt like being in the presence of a superstar to be ushered through the lobby by the superfly receptionist & back into the big corner office where Dre did his business. I couldn?t help thinking that this was a long ways from where I was used to being, the other side of the world from the mean streets of Long Beach.

But, after a few minutes hanging with Dre, I got to feeling more comfortable. G and him were tight, and I could see that, for all his money & influence, he was still in touch with the streets and what was going down outside his penthouse office. We hadn?t talked for too long, just bullshitting about nothing in particular, when Dre leaned over his desk and ask me to give him a sample of my freestyle.

I got nervous all over again, but managed to spin out a decent flow, riffing on how Dre was number one and bringing up the names of all his records and the artists he'd worked with just to let him know that I was on top of his game. When I was done, Dre had a big smile on his face and turned to G.

"You all come down to the studio tomorrow morning at eight o'clock," he said. "I got something I'd like to use you on."
