Position Qualifications:
To be a Circuit Court Judge a person must be a citizen of their state, licensed to practice law in that state and a registered voter in the court district in which they wish to run for.  They must be less than 70 years old at the time or their appointment and they have to have not been convicted of a violation of 12a(1) of act No. 370 of the Public Acts of 1941, being section 381129 of the michigan compiled laws 20 years prior to appointment.
Nomination Process:
Judges seeking reelection may file an affidavit of candidacy.  New candidates must file a nonpartisan nominating petition signed by a number of voters residing in the circuit between 1 - 4% of the total number of votes cast in the circuit for secretary of state at the last preceding general election in which a secretary of state was elected.  The minimum number of signatures is 5,000 and the maximum is 20,000 for states with unusually low or high populations.
Election Time:
Augusts.
