Chapter 5
Kathleen was finally getting used to Chandra staring at her every second of the day. She figured maybe Chandra was just admiring her good looks.
After school coming down the noisy hall Kathleen spotted Hannah. "Oh Hannah lets just met up at your house I have a few things I need to grab at mine!" yelled Kathleen over the noise of the crowd Kathleen had some computer games she wanted to play at Hannah's.
"Well ok only if you promise not to take to long!" Hannah yelled back. Kathleen nodded her head. They exited the school grounds and Kathleen started off toward her house with a wave as Hannah went toward hers. Coming down her street Kathleen noticed a car in her driveway. Curious, she walked faster to see whose car it was; and why they were at her house. When she was about to open the door a warm hand was placed onto her shoulder but before she could utter a word, another was placed over her mouth. She was pulled roughly down hidden from sight behind the hedge in front of her house.
"Don't say anything," a harsh voice murmured. Kathleen's heart was racing as she tried to struggle away from the hold. Kathleen stopped struggling when she heard voices drifting from inside her house.
"Yeah it sounds like he skipped town." Said a voice Kathleen couldn't match it up to anyone she knew.
"He lost everything or so he says. He claims to have had all his experiments destroyed with the warehouse. The strange part is earlier when we questioned him he said he had just one project left."
" Well we know now that -" the voices drifted away as the intruders entered a different room. Kathleen was so absorbed in the conversation that she had forgotten about the hand around her mouth. She looked up and back into her captors face. All she got was an eerie smile; it was Chandra.
"You best wait here till they leave" Chandra whispered. Kathleen nodded her head too baffled to say anything. Chandra raised and silently left, leaving Kathleen alone. Once the visitors left Kathleen dash inside and grabbed her things. On her walk back over to Hannah's house she worried about what the strangers at her house had talked about. Where they talking about dad, she questioned herself. It wasn't till she was about to walk through the Hannah's front door that she remembered that Chandra was there also. Was she following me? Lessons weren't till tomorrow why did she have to bug me now! Well, pondered Kathleen, I guess I'll have to talk to her tomorrow.
