Chapter 13
Squirrel now a young girl led them to a side of the giant trees. The trees grew so close together the only way out was back through the tunnel. There was a door carved in one of the trees; like the entrance to the tunnel there was a white line. Squirrel opened it like she did before only with her hands instead of her tail. This time the door was big enough for all to enter. Expecting to find a small space Kathleen was surprised to found a large room equipped with chairs and clothed tables.
"We hollowed out all the trees surrounding the area," Informed the girl. "Because the trees grow so close together the only way out is by in which you came. There something important I need to tell you, you are not your dimension any more I have no idea why you were brought here but we will make the most of it. You will stay here till we can find a way to get you home" The girls were stunned.
"What?" Stammered Kathleen. "How could this happen? Your kidding right?"
"This is amazing," breathed Chandra looking around. "Do all the squirrels have the ability to change like you?"
"Not all but some of us do" Kathleen was still stunned she couldn't see how Hannah and Chandra were so calm. Well it is kind of cool thought Kathleen that is if it was true.
"Could you change for us now?" Hannah asked eagerly
"I'm afraid not"
"Why not." demanded Kathleen.
"It takes a lot of energy to transform so I must careful were and when I change."
"Is that why you didn't change in the forest?"
"Yes my natural body it's easier to move around in especially in the woods. Here you look tried come sit. Plus all these questions are making me breathless." they moved around the table each sitting down in a chair. "Now I will answer any questions you may have."
"What's your name?" asked Hannah "I feel uncomfortable calling you Squirrel."
"Ivory, Princess of the Trees"
"A princess?" said Kathleen stunned. "Wow where are your parents, the Queen and King?" Ivory's eyes clouded with sorrow
"They are dead, killed by the farmer and his wife; the Leaches" Ivory said solemnly.
"Leaches? They suck blood?" Chandra said baffled.
"No they drain out the energy from living things and store it in their crystal using it to become Immortal. For the crystal is their being."
"Oh… Dang" said Kathleen for it was an unusual fate. "Though I think we're having a hard time grasping all this."
"Why? How?" Hannah began "How was I able to understand you?" the princess wrinkled her nose as she thought deeply.
"At first I thought it was you who was talking squirrel but now I'm not so sure it doesn't completely make scene." said Ivory.
Before the others could ask anymore questions. Ivory hushed them and told them it had been a long day and ushered them to a stairway, which led them to some beds. At first Kathleen didn't think she was that tried but as soon as she laid down on the feather like beds she was sound asleep.
