Welcome to Paanjang's website , where a typical SMK Seafield student brings his school to the world through his own means for honor , glory and driven by the urge to be ahead. Currently studying in Adelaide Australia, where catching up with the demands of university life and letting lose through Mechwarrior is a daily affair. Also looking forward to the day he meet the girl he loves.

Sunday, 11th April  2004 (Easter Sunday)

My floor is very quiet now since the noisy ones , first year students doing Pre-U courses have gone home for the 2 weeks holidays. I think the only people that are around are the seniors and those doing university degrees. Even if I can go back home, I can't since I got some assignments that needs to be handed in during the holidays. For the past 3 days I have been lazing around in my room, playing MW4 Mercs, MWDA with any available figures I have and updating this website. In other words, I did everything to past time except anything that relates to university work like the 2 lab reports that are due after the holidays (it is still 2 weeks right?). By the time I start doing it I might have forgotten how the experiment was supposed to be done. Oh well, as long got the lab manual still boleh buat.

I have transferred the earlier posts to a separate page called Archive 1 because this page is getting longer and longer every time I add a post. I also made the 2 pictures of how I would pack my figures smaller because after testing the page, I realized it took a while to completely load the page as the images are big and took a long time to download. For those with streamyx (broadband) connection like in my house it is OK to have such images, but I am only using a dial-up that is limited to only 32 kbs, which is slower than our Malaysian dial-up connection of 48kbs. The good thing about the dial-up here is that it doesn't lose connection and the speed is stable.  Still, paying more than streamyx doesn't justify its stability and speed.

Because of its slow speed , every time my parents sent me photos they have to sent them in batches of 2 photos per e-mail because not only does it takes a while to download the images, my hotmail inbox has a limit of I think 2 mb. My parents camera is more advanced than mine and it takes large resolution photos with very high quality. I did advised them to to lower the resolution and quality to make the size of the images smaller but I am the only one who knows how to change the camera settings. The size of the photos sent are usually 200-400 kbs while the images you see with some of my post are 200 kbs max. Sending them photos is easier because the size of my photos are small.

I also made some minor updating to my SMK Seafield section. I went to the official school website made my someone I know to take a look at how it is. It is still the same as before, with no updates since I left SMK Seafield! I was surprised that it is there in the first place , since Geocities would take out the site if it isn't updated within a certain time period. The next site I visit was my TigaIlmu99 official website. It too never underwent any updates, this time since I left form 3! I think it is better to leave it like that. It represents a time capsule from our past when all of us are free as hell and willing to do anything for the school.

I realized that among all of my friends, I seem to be the only one who has a blog that is updated quite frequently (it is frequent since I just started a short while ago). The rest either died out or is left to collect virtual dust. I still have the links page which contain the website address of some friends. Of all the links on that page, only 1 still is active (the Mad Cat's one, for those who understand who I mean). Even then it is never updated and by following the link on that page that I can access the only active blog I know so far. Am I too free that I can type very Long posts like a free-lance writer (Just wondered why I did engineering in the first place .. oh yeah to build a battlemech... wait a minute)? Maybe it is because the combination of both having a lot of free time (yeah right) and a cool laptop to type things and also because I am lonely here.

Few days ago Wizkids released a preview of the upcoming MWDA expansion : Falcon's Prey! Whoo hoo! Clan Jade Falcon is coming! IT features bird like battlemechs with cooling wings at the back. It also has Elementals!.. rumor has it that the HLs are getting the elite HLs, which makes no sense since Elemental Battle Armor are exclusively to the Clans. But no matter how excited I get over such an expansion, experience has thought me that I can only dream about those mechs, never can I get my greedy hands on them. Why? Because those bloody savarashi JF mechs are so rare that I need to buy cases like boosters to get them . I prefer to look for the kodiak before looking for those bird-like mechs. Another way is to go by E-bay, which I can do since my ATM card doubles as a credit card, but I never tried using E-bay before and fear being having to pay more than I bargained for. Oh well, the mech will come, the mech will come. (Prays that Wizkids stop this booster mania thing).

Yesterday night I tried having a Victoria Station lamb steak. I though I had everything I need; lamb (duh) , mint sauce, bread (using the normal roti), lettuce for salad , tomatoes, etc. But I forgotten the potatoes, sour sause (or whatever sauce it can be , million island or mayonnaise). I got off to a good start, cooking the lamb steak with the right amount of time in oil. I cut the lamb into small pieces so that it is cooked all around. I then proceeded to serve it with tomatoes and lettuce minus any type of sauce that go with the vegetables. I reminded myself that I need potatoes next time. Then I tried to heat up the bread to make it warm. Little did I know, by micro waving the bread it made it hard as rock. I wanted it to be soft and hot, but it turned out hard and hot. Oh well, at least the lamb tastes good together with the mint sauce I bought. Now I need a glass of champagne to go with my meal (realized all the money spent on MWDA).

10th April  2004

The holidays are here!! Today is the second day of the holidays and all I am doing right now is lazing away and getting everything tidied up. Yesterday was Good Friday and tomorrow is Easter Sunday. I have cleared my table again , this time keeping all those Mechwarrior figures into my Premier Pack and another big box. Since I am at home right now, I got to cook myself. For lunch yesterday , I made sandwiches with bread, champagne  ham (something that taste better than in Malaysia) , tomatoes , lettuce and other things which can go with it. It was fairly easy to make, and it is not only nutritious but also very nice to eat (OK, when you're hungry anything goes). For dinner maybe I am thinking of cooking the lamb steak I bought. I still clueless about how to make it into a lamb steak but when you're hungry and  cooking it for the first time, again anything goes.

I did try to cook something different like kangaroo meat a month ago. Since it was the first time I cook red meat, I overcook it and it became very hard. Over well done it seems. It was for lunch and after breakfast I wasn't really that hungry. For dinner, I was smarter, I cut the kangaroo meat into small chunks so that it can be easily cooked. I also added more oil to "drown" the chunks. I cooked it in less time than my first try and lowered the flame to cook it slowly. Deciding that it is cooked, I serve it in a plate and eat it like meatballs. I got to say, I was very tasty and well-done (Yes, I am proud of myself and anything I cook taste good). The only bad thing about kangaroo meat was that it smells when you are cooking it. Once it is cook however, the smell is gone. I heard from my friend it taste like beef, but since I don't eat beef, I don't know if that is true or not. Too bad I don't have mint sauce to fully enjoy it.

I removed all my mechwarrior figures from my table and place them into any available boxes I have. This is also an attempt to see if I can pack all my figures into boxes to be brought back home WITHOUT breaking them. I found out I was able to fit all the unique units into the Premier Box and the rest into the box which came with Danny's lot. For the unique units, I placed the big and strong figures like Hasbani's Atlas and figures which are unlikely to break to surround fragile figures like the Zueses (seeing your Nikol Brane broke a fin is hard-breaking) , Jupiter and other fragile figures. I intend to fill in the empty spaces with bubble foam/bubble plastic/whatever you call it to prevent the figures from rocking from side to side. As for the other box with the non-unique units, I will also put some bubble plastic but will place big strong vehicles like Behemoths and JES II on the bottom of the box and place fragile vehicles like DF marksman and MHI AA tanks (in which 1 of them is needed by my friend) on top. Hopefully only a small percentage of them and not so important units will break during the journey back home.

Here's a picture of how the unique units will be in the Premier Box. The two LE boxes will contain the dossiers of all the units and the LE which came with the box.

Here's the non-unique box. It is crammed I know, but Mechwarrior figures are quite strong.

Ok, that is how I planned to transport those figures aboard a jumpship. I know this is only a preliminary attempt to pack my stuff as I expect more stuff will be coming soon and  needed a bigger box to hold all the stuff. Still, it is a good to plan ahead.

I added in a new section to my website entitled MWDA collection in Adelaide in the Mechwarrior Dark Age section. This is to show (or more appropriately boast) about my current collection I have here. It also has a list of unique units I have and traded or sold away. Even I was surprised that I got so many unique units.
