What a day today! Today I finally finish a part of the bulk of assignments that needs to be done! Still got one more assignment left but it will be quite easy to finish it up as I have the right sources and reference to do it. I wasn't able to post anything on the blog for more than a week because I was busy trying to finish up all the work that was pilling up more than a week ago. Among the things I need to do is a lab report using the computer stress analysis software which is hard as heck to use (I complained about it in my previous post) , a solid mechanics assignment where none of us knew how to do it and finally have to prepare a 3-minute presentation for the ESL (English as a Second Language). ESL is compulsory to all international students studying at the university. It might sound as though it is a language course (after all, I needed to have an IELTS result of 6 and above to enter), but it is more a course about how to communicate and how to write references that sort of thing.
The day after tomorrow is Easter Friday. It is a public holiday and it marks the start of my mid-semester break of 2 weeks. I am not going back during this 2 weeks as I need to catch up on all my subjects and finish up some projects which are due in a months time. Some of my hostel mates are going back during this time. They are however, first year students doing Pre-U courses and have bank accounts wayyy larger than mine. The 2 weeks mid-semester break is much needed for me because I need to relax and make sure everything is in order again.
To start off the holidays even though it starts on Friday, I decided to go to my MWDA venue to buy a booster. Just one booster costing AUD 15.95 to celebrate and relief all the hectic work for the past few days. To my great surprise, the Counterassault (CS) booster I bought contained a VERY big mech. It was none other than the Bounty Hunter itself (or was it himself?). The Bounty Hunter is a 100 ton Marauder II which is the chase unique in CS. Before I bought the booster I had this feeling that the next booster I buy might contain a unique. Of course I wanted the kodiak, but I rule that out since it was really unlikely I can get it just like that. So I entered the shop, ask for a CS booster, the shop assistant pulled a booster from a case on the floor (the boosters are sold behind the counter, so no cheery picking) , paid for it, opened the booster, check to see if there is a dossier, shocked to see there is actually one inside, pulled the dossier out, saw the name "Bounty Hunter" with the DF logo and proceeded to examine the mech. So all in all, my pull was:
DF Marauder II SW Elite Pegasus Light Tank SC Green IS BA (we'll ditch the bazooka and keep the puny small laser instead. Not to mentioned we can use our JJs!) SC green combat engineers
Here's a picture of it :
My forth booster I ever bought in Adelaide , 3rd from my venue and I got a very big unique! The venue owner jokingly said to me : "You didn't buy enough boosters from my shop to earn that unique you know ...." . Needless to say, he was pretty shocked to see that I pulled such a big mech just out of sheer luck. Well, it wasn't my fault, his assistant pulled the booster from the box and gave it to me. So maybe next time I should ask his assistant for CS boosters :)
29th March 2004
I had more to add in for the 27th, but I was too tired to continue after typing a very very long battle report. That Saturday I not only got the LE Shen Yi, but also purchased for AUD 40, Nikol Brane (the LE Merc Zues) , Shieldturion (a centurion with a mace, roman shield and NO range weapons) , Merc Rifleman and SH Phoenix Hawk from the player which used his 2 arrow 4s against me. To me it was a good deal, since the Merc Zues is one very hard to find mech (back in Malaysia that is, unless I go to E-bay) and the shieldturion is a real unique mech. It is about AUD 15 per unique and AUD 5 for each of the non unique mechs. As I had told some of my friends, I buy uniques for the price of boosters as 1 booster cost AUD 15. He did not bring any dossier unfortunately, but I can get it from him later. Also, I think that will be my last few Mechwarrior purchase because my cash supply is running low and I was surprised how quickly AUD 300 (RM 900) can disappear in less than a week (Mechwarior plus some other more important items) !! If my parents find out I think they will pengsan... and I still don't have any girlfriend to impress yet!
I am still figuring out how to use the shieldturion. It seems to shutdown and die a horrible death after I had pushed it to its prime click of heat. The mech has a heat dial which gives positive heat effects the more you push it. Unfortunately it also has a bloody shutdown roll on the best click of heat and a vent rating of 1 really dooms this mech when it comes to restarting. If it does not have that shutdown click or have a vent rating of 2 it might be playable. The sculpt however, is nice and very different from the other mechs that are with me. How often do you find a mech with a roman shield and a mace walking around in bright red and white? I just realized Yen-Lo-Wang , Kai Allard Liao's fabled centurion, is also red and white and it too is a Solaris 7 mech. In fact , the LE of this shieldturion is Yen-Lo-Wang itself, but with a different pilot (Kai is dead btw in Dark Age) ,in Liao colors ,has a range weapons and a waayyyy better heat dial.
Here's a current picture of my Mecharrior line-up
Enough of Mechwarrior for now, I will now proceed to key in my life story. Last Sunday I woke up early around 8.30 a.m to beat the queue to the washing machine. It is also because day light saving ends on Saturday and on Saturday night I turn the clock back 1 hour so 8.30 a.m on Sunday is actully 9.30 a.m usually (1 extra hour of sleep).
The whether in Adelaide on Sunday was showers and cloudy. I didn't went out but from what I saw from my room window it must have been really cold and wet outside. At night it rained heavily but only for a short time.
Up until yesterday, my table was in a mess. Books and notes were on the floor so that I could have enough table space for my computer , mechs , printer, multi-socket, charger and many more stuff. It was very disorganized and I had trouble looking for any item among the pile of folders and papers. So yesterday I sorted out all my notes and items related to my course by subjects and putting them into folders. I also got rid of some out-dated notices and non-important papers and place certain items into the drawers in my room. The multi-socket was moved off the table and the entangle of wires were moved out of sight.
My mechs still remain on the table but I place some of them on notes which will not be used until later. All my Mechwarrior units are facing the door, guarding it. I don't know anything about Feng Shui, but I think having an army guarding the door should keep the bad things away from my room. Most of the units are unique units and some of them are too fragile to be placed in the box.
After I had cleared and reorganize my room, my table now has lots of space compared to the day before. For once I was less stress about knowing where the notes are and more area for me to do my work. The notes and books which were on the floor are now on the table and within reach. Maybe now I can study harder and have less stress about studying since putting the books on the table instead of the floor changed the feng shui in my room.
Here is the picture of my study table. Big isn't it?
Last sunday also marked the day when I finally used my student diary for first time in ....my entire life! Previously in Inti I never used a diary because the workload and preassure were not that great compared to here. I decided to use the diary as my assignments were getting out of hand and I don't know how many of them are due , need immediate attention and I keep forgetting to buy important things . For now atleast, things are under control and I know how long before I need to hand in.
I was under immense amount of preassure that Sunday because I needed to key in the answers of my Engineering and Environment assignment online. The some of the answers I submitted online were wrong and determined to complete it on Sunday itself (it was due on Monday 11p.m but it is always better to submit it one day early), I try looking at the answers and figuring out what is the correct answer. The questions are objective with 7-8 difference answers to choose from and the difference between them are small. The problem with this kind of online assignment is that I need to be online to access it and it will disconnect if I idle for too long (this is because I was copying down the answers and thinking). The university provides free internet connection to its sites, but each time I connect I need to pay AUD 0.60 per call! I later gave up and decided that I need to collaborate with my friends to get the right answer. Part of my stress was also due to how disorganized my table and my life is. The good thing is that today I managed to get the answers from my friends and key in the answers in my university's CAT suite. One assignment down, a hundred more to go. I can now relaxe for the time being.
27th March 2004
Today is the first time I played in a Mechwarrior tourney in more than 2 months! My local venue held a 450 point constructed tourney where players built a force made up of either 200 points of Liao or 200 points of Swordsworn units and the remainder 150 points can be made up of units from any factions. I played House Liao with a force made up of the LE griffin, C. Schiller , Liao Sun Cobra, SS MHI AA tank , 3 SC hoverbikes , 1 liao special forces team and a HL peasant as filler. Compared back home where the we play tourneys for free, an entrance fee of AUD 5 was charged for each player. I will not complaint about getting any Mage Knight figures as prizes for tourneys in Malaysia after having to pay to play.
The tourney was supposed to start at 11 a.m. , but it started later as the Battlemaster came in late because he had some things to do. There were 6 of us playing on that day, some of them serious players and some which play for fun. The players here really have some serious hardware to play, mainly Arrow 4 tanks, infiltrating trikes, peasants , mjolnirs and some good infantry.
When I arrive, 2 of the players are already there, trading and chatting with each other. Since the Battlemaster wasn't there yet , I took a look at what they have brought. The toolbox that was used to carry their units is bigger than our Mr.Suitcase. One was using a large multi-tier toolbox with nothing but HL units in them. Inside, there was Naomi , Leela , HL Black knight, HL shadow cat 2, Tara Bishop, Caden, 15 peasants, more than enough purifiers to fill 200 points, and many many more Highlander units including the HL LE thumper. Almost of the all the Highlander units from pre-Liao is in there. There were also some unique units from other factions too. And that was from one of the player.
The other player was a young teenager (I don't know is age) with a metal red multi-tier toolbox with some unique units which include the BR Mad Cat 2, the ROTS Mars and many more units we can only dream off. The players which later came in have their toolboxes and large sport bags filled with unique units and non-battlemechs. The only ICE mech that I saw was the BR LE Agro mod-B. Not a yellow mech in sight.
Anyway, my first battle was against an opponent with 2 SS mjolnirs , SS Arrow 4 (I hate this thing) , SW arrow 4 ,SW Galleon ,SW Donar and some base screen hover bikes and peasants. I deploy some water terrain in front of me so that I can take out the arrow 4s then move on to the mechs. I was surprised that he did not deploy any terrain at all. I started first and in my 1st turn I moved my 2 mechs into water and the hoverbikes in front to try and swarm the arrows. What he did next was totally beyond what I had expected. He charged with both his Mjolnirs, one to the griffin, the other to the Sun cobra. I moved 8 inches from my deployment zone into water and suddenly 2 light mechs charge out of hyper space from HIS deployment zone. My griffin was hit for 4 damage for no particular reason but my sun cobra was not hit because of his 22 defense. He then lay down some artillery markers from his SS arrow on both the hoverbikes and the mechs.
I finished off the Mjolnir which charged my griffin and move up my sun cobra to try and shoot the SS arrow 4. My hoverbikes were pushed to avoid getting hit by arty and moved closer to the SS arrow. His second mjolnir broke off from the Sun cobra and based my AA tank on the rear arc. Obviously I had to ignore that tank to deal with the arrows.
After a few turns my griffin was blow to salvage by the arrow 4s with my sun cobra busy dealing with a SW galleon and dodging arrow rockets at the same time. I couldn't base the arrow 4 as it was protected my a base screen.
To cut it short, those pesky arrow 4s blow up my entire army even though my sun cobra and my hoverbikes (which manage to shoot at it as his base screen is not fully enclosed) managed to only damaged the SS arrow 4. As you know the SS arrow 4 has very stable stats and by the time the battle is over it still has 2 clicks AP! I only managed to earn 87 points (the Mjolnir) for VC1 and some VC3 in the entire battle.
Next battle, I faced an army with the Elite Liao rifleman, BR Schmitt, BR thumper and some DF infantry. I deployed the terrain like earlier and used my mech's 14 inch range to out range his units. He made the decision to pushed his Schmitt to shoot my hoverbikes, which allowed by mechs to move into range of both his rifleman and his tank. Next turn my LE griffin , after suffering a humiliating defeat to a Davion mech, rolled 2 critical hits in a row! One for the first attack and the other for pulse. My sun cobra finish the tank off as it couldn't hit the rifleman. By the I thought the battle was mine. My opponent then moved his rifleman within 10 inches of my sun cobra, relying on its decoy for protection ( I don't have AP btw and my AA tank is busy killing infantry). My sun cobra missed and was later taken out by the rifleman. My griffin proceeded to pulse the rifleman for 6 damage after it has killed some BA that was busy basing him. The rifleman then ran back to his deployment zone for safety, with BA holding down my griffin. I used my hoverbikes to keep the rifleman busy while my griffin is done with the BA.
Deciding that an 8 attack and low damage wouldn't to much damage to me, as my griffin is still in its prime, I broke, ran and based the rifleman. His rifleman was running hot and needed to cool. Next turn I can pulse him for 6 damage!! Victory will be mine!
Then the Battlemaster told us that time was up. If only I had another 3-4 more turns I would have killed that pesky rifleman. I lost as I had only killed a Schimitt tank and some BA while he killed my Sun cobra and some hoverbikes. Even though I had VC3 (my griffin was in his deployment zone basing his rifleman) I lost VC1 and VC2. Great battle with no cheese, but if only got more time.
The third battle was the against the teenager who was using the BR ghost (suzie "my-leg-is-backwards" falson) , Shanetta Yuen , HL LE Donar and SS SM1. He had no infantry to worry about, and my new MHI AA tank will make short work of that Donar. This will be easy.
Yeah Right... In this match I lost everything and killed nothing! I deployed both my mechs the same way I did for the first 2 matches. He on the other hand, moved his SS ghost behind a building and his BR ghost into water (that BR ghost has 10 speed). I proceeded to move my mechs into range with the hoverbikes nearby to base any mech which come close.
He ran his BR ghost behind all my mechs while his Donar goes within firing range. Fearing an alpha strike, I based his mech with a hoverbike and moved my mechs to face it. This BR ghost is toast. Next turn I break, shoot the ghost and charge it with my sun cobra. My griffin shoot it once but failed the second shot, failed a shut down roll and shut down. My sun cobra charged the ghost for 5 damage. To my surprised the Ghost still has decent stats and the energy attack made it stronger because it has TSM!
With my griffin shut down, the Donar wreck havoc with my griffin, shooting it to kingdom come. My MHI tank crew can't shoot the Donar down for several turns as this is the first time they shoot a VTOL (or maybe because I needed a 12 to hit). The tank was later based by the other ghost and the Donar then lay waste to my sun cobra after the BR ghost ran away from it. Taking 3 energy damage from a pesky VTOL with 21 defence ,heavy armor, 14 inch range and 16 speed is annoying as heck. The battle was pretty much over when both my mechs were salvaged with the help of that VTOL. Come to think of it, had the griffin managed to do 6 damage to the ghost, I might have won.
So in the end, 3 battles lost, one by due to a big 230 point fatty , one by cheese, one by a little helicopter. I was the only player not using artillery, VTOLs and transports. The other 2 players which I didn't play fielded cheese as well. Mass peasants with (yup, you guessed it, SS arrow 4) , BR Sprint, mobile HQ and fast infiltrators. Mass infantry with a DF towed arrow, SC towed, fast vehicles like the SS tamerlade and a SS centurion. The winner was the player with the SS centurion. He basically overrun the first player I faced in the third round.
The winner got Claretha Francis, the HL Valiant. Apparently even in Adelaide our venue wasn't able to get the latest LEs from Wizkids. For today, we were supposed to get Danai-Liao-Centrallea and the LE Garrot, but since it hasn't arrive yet the battlemaster provided some other prizes. The battlemaster said it was due to shipping problems at wizkids. The winner was happy to get the valiant, as he plays Highlanders and the Valiant was a nice addition to his highlander collection. What about Fellowship? Don't tourneys have Fellowship? Since I was the player who was honorable enough to field no cheese like VTOLs and artillery I got the Fellowship prize which was the LE Shen Yi , Vincent Altmen. Now I got 2 Shen Yis! Another unique unit to add to my collection :)
So that was the battle report of the tourney I attended today. I guess it gives a brief idea of how much the game has changed due to Counterassualt (SS arrow 4, super from out of no-where charging Mjolnirs, fast infiltrators). Dun worry when I come back, I currently don't have any arrow 4 tanks or ATVs or Mjolnirs!
26th March 2004
After surviving 2 fortnights at the Uni of Adelaide (and 2 weeks without buying any Mechwarrior) ,I thought maybe I should buy a Premier Pack as there is a MWDA tourney tomorrow and I need something to measure and some dice. Premier Pack contain 2 random unique , 2 starter packs which in turn contain 2 battlemech, 10 infantry and 4 vehicles, all from Dark Age with the exception of the 2 unique where it can be either from FFE or DA. I also needed the starter pack for the Joel Brane redemption which is currently on.
When I arrive at the shop, I noticed that there is a large number of unique units on sale on the counter. Some one obviously sold a large number of figures to the shop as some of the mechs include the LE Tian-Zong, Hoa Phiri. For 50 bucks it is too expensive as the most I spent was on Arnis for AUD 40, which is now going for AUD 12 cheaper in the store. As the saying goes, act in haste , repent in leisure (at least I got the bragging rights 2 weeks earlier). A lot of good mechs are going for below AUD 30 like the sphinx and katsu. Boy I wish I have an unlimited budget.
Anyway, I decided to buy the Premier Pack instead of the LE Tian-Zong as the price of this mech will drop once the Jade Falcons come later. It was a good buy too, as the Premier Pack contained some units I was gunning for for a long time. It contained (drumrool) Miss Erin "don't come within 12 inches of me" Johnson, Mr. Derek "watch me blow up big" Hasbani , not one but 2 Elite marksman (I think I prayed too hard) , HL Elite JES missile carrier (I finally got it !!! I finally got it!!!), some infantry, Elite spider , Veteran Black Hawk (I finally have it!!!) . All this for only AUD 58.95, which is very worth it since Erin was going for AUD 30 and a starter cost AUD 39.95. My only complaint is that the SC CBA has the wrong dial!!! Arrgghhh it always happens to the best units :p
Oh yeah, when I got home, I decided to test the starter dice. I have heard that the starter dice sucks big time, but I didn't truly believe it until I made my first roll. Yep, it was triple ones.
After 2 months in Adelaide my MWDA collection here is now worth more than RM 1000 with 12 unique units , including LEs. All of them are battlemechs except for the LE crow scout helicopter which I bought together with Danny's lot. Adding up with all the unique units and LEs at home, I now have a total of 27 unique units. In the coming months I hope with enough cash, the fall of individual unit prices and a higher US dollar I can get all the unique units I want (including the Kodiak :) . Here's a picture of the unique line-up at Paanjang16's Adelaide mech bay!
24th March 2004
What a day today. I arrive at uni a good 30 minutes early at 8.30 because the traffic to the city was light. What a start to a good day I thought, since the journey to uni was fast and the bus wasn't pack. However when I wanted to read what the lecturer was going to teach today, I found out I forgot to bring the lecture notes for the particular subject . Great, looks like I have to share with a friend. In the end the lesson went smoothly.
At 11 I got tutorial for Robotics. The subject is not as hard as you think , since it is pretty much math most of the time. The tutorial today is easy as heck, after the tutor explain what we are supposed to find and how to find it. Crack my head trying to figure out what the darn question wants and find out in the end that it was so so simple. Since it was only one question, and the tutor reveal the answer early, I left after 30 minutes. I got the feeling the test might not be so simple.
Since it was still before mid-day, went and I ate at the Chinese restaurant opposite the university. The location of that restaurant is very good as it is right in front of the university and near the bus stop where students come down. Ate a combination of mixed rice for only AUD 4.80. Usually it is AUD 5.30 , but since I arrive before 12, I was entitled to a student discount! I still have some grudges though, since before uni started it was only AUD 5 !
After having my lunch , I went to my MWDA venue nearby. I pop in to see the message board to confirm what time the MWDA tourney will be held this Saturday. I also want to see any unique or units are available for sale. I didn't buy any since I am VERY low on cash that time. I saw the prices of some of the uniques on sale ; SH Zues AUD 25 , SW Uller AUD 30 , ROTS Crimson Hawk AUD 23 and many more. I wish I got the money , but then even if I bought any of them they might be crushed in my bag (still think I should buy Katsu though). If those units are cheaper I would have snap them up right away.
I proceeded to head for the library after that. I need to find out about how to print and Photostat with the machines available. If there is one thing I hate about those computers in the library, it is because they are VERY VEEERRRRYYY slow. So slow in fact even the computer in Inti is faster. Want to browse the pages about how to print? Be prepared to wait a while while the page loads. All the computers there are connected to a terminal and don't have individual CPUs. If they want to increase fees they better put some P4 technology first!
Speaking of fees, few days ago I receive an e-mail from dunno-who-is-it telling us to sign a petition to stop the government from raising all times of educational related tax and fees. They also want to impose a tax on text books which will make text books cost 8% more. With election coming soon I hope the Aussie Iraq war supporter (you know who I mean) is booted out of office like the Pas president back home. Maybe he ran out of cash after sponsoring some tanks and infantry for the war.
Ok, enough of politics. Fed-up with the speed in the library, I moved on to the CATS suite in the engineering block. The difference is very obvious. A page which took 5 seconds to load only took less than a second in the CATS suite. I can log on and log off instantly. It is just like upgrading your PC from a P100 to a P4 1.8 Ghz with XP pro. There I took a look at some of the course materials that are online. I also check on how to print and the charges involved. I don't know why, but I am supposed to get a free printing quota for about AUD 20 I think but the money isn't there! Oh well, maybe 1st year students ( and it sucks since the software in the CATS suite cannot copy out and burn on the CD. Boy I miss Inti). I tested the thumb drive and it worked!
Later at 3 p.m, I entered the CATs suite again to do the ANSYS tutorial. ANSYS is some sort of software which is used to analyze stress , bending , deflection and tension. Powerful but at the same time annoying as hell! This software has one feature we Microsoft users take for granted ; the undo key. Any mistake done in this software is very hard to undo and I wasted a lot of time redoing the bloody 3D drawing to get the result I want . My fault for not saving EVERY step of the process. When I finally got fed-up and ask for help, the software did exactly what I wanted it to do (I always happen doesn't it?). I spend about 3 hours I which I might not get back only just to draw the solid. I was too tired to do the analytical part I save the entire thing into my thumb drive and headed home at 6. Too bad the CATS suite is monitored , otherwise I might pump a shot gun shell into it :)
Arrive at my hostel at 6.30, just in time to have dinner at the cafeteria downstairs. After a long day I am just to lazy to cook and wash up. Even deciding what to eat can be stressful at times. After dinner I went up to my room , bath and began typing this 'blog' like many people do. I got an assignment to do which is due this weekend but I am too lazy and too tired to do it (as always) . Boy this is a long entry... and as usual I got a lot of things to say... nevermind then, this is my blog anyway!
Last Saturday and Sunday I was lucky to watch the aerobatics display for the Clipsal 500. At about 11 a.m , there was an aerobatic show by 6 single seater propeller aircraft (Don't know what model, since I just woke up) . The view from my room was fantastic. It is like sitting in the best spot of a grand prix. At that time the sun was right above and I was able to see the show with no glare from the sun. The plane did most of the maneuvers right in front of my hostel and for the finale flew right above the hostel . If those planes suffer any engine problem during that time I better run from the window! Too bad I didn't took any photos that morning as I was too tired and sleepy.
Later, at 2-3 p.m, before the start of the main race (the 11a.m was the start of the car-toon) , a fighter jet flew past the race track and in front of my hostel. The amount of noise and rumbling the fighter jet produce is enough to make all the windows vibrate, and that is only 1 fighter jet! Too bad he only made 2 fly-bys, with the last producing a column of flame behind the engine. It was spectacular, since the fighter flew round my hostel to make another round. My guess that it is most probably an F-14 as it is a very big aircraft. I tried to get a picture of the jet with my digital camera but no luck since my digital camera doesn't have zoom and no sound when recording video! No wonder so cheap.
Even though I wasn't able to watch F1 that day (stupid Fox TV and the local station no F1) , at least I was able to see the air-show.
Time for a true love story analysis:
A couple of days ago, while I was eating dinner downstairs (alone of course , since I can't find a girlfriend) , I saw one the girl I wanted to court with her friend eating downstairs together. It was 2 weeks since I let off the bomb (and a really big one mind you) to her that I love her and ended in a disaster. Little did I know she already was taken by someone way older that me and that messing with someone's girlfriend (especially when he owns a Daishi) is not good. I thought it was merely a lie, since such a huge age gap between them makes it very unlikely for them to be couples together (she's younger than me by , would you believe it, 2 years) .
It was only later when she started avoiding me like hell that I finally accept that she was already taken. Her boy friend must have 'programmed' her so that to avoid anyone interested in her , just like any husband would want their wife to act. Even though I felt a bit of loss at first , I knew it was a blessing in disguise , since I later found out both of us aren't compatible with each other and there is more to series of events that happened between us.
As I was eating dinner, I noticed that the girl I wanted (I refrain from using names here, since it tarnishes people's reputation and reveal who I am) was more than friendly to this particular student. She was chatting with him was though she and he is very close with each other. I felt at that time kinda odd. First , since she has been taken, she wouldn't be chatting to him so friendly like that. Second, after how she acted to me after that 'memorable' day, it was as if she hates me for some reason. Third, if I am her boyfriend and saw her with this guy like that ,I would be hopping mad and challenge him to a Trial of Grievance.
So I ask her friend why she is being so friendly to this guy and why she hates me so much. Her friend ask me "you jealous is it?!" . Yes I am , jealous enough to call a Trial of Annihilation for that idiot. But the main reason is why the hell is she avoiding me like the plague while she treats this useless guy who is like one of those noise makers from Inti like her 'second boyfriend'. I had to know because I wondering what went wrong.
"You know why? Because she don't like the way you tried to court her. Also, the guy she is talking to met with us back in Malaysia and both our boyfriends have ask him to take care of us" her friend said. At first I was set back by what she said, but then I have to consider the fact that she is a spoilt VERY rich man's daughter that likes to 'hang kai' and spend money (I heard her saying she wants to buy a Merc , yes , a Merc! here). Also, from the looks of it, the girl I wanted to court is also a rich man's daughter .She owns a handphone only my dad has. Hell, I think I am surrounded my rich man's daughters and sons. I am a really a small fish compared to them.
Anyway, looking back, I did try a different tactic to court her. Instead of gradually expressing interest in the girl I love when I was back in Form 5 over a period of 6 months I think, with sending a birthday card to her together with my 'love letter', I expressed my love to her in a very direct (but not offensive mind you, I was careful not to offend people, heck I can't offend people) manner. I told her directly that I love her WITHOUT making a background check about her history (see above , look for boyfriend). Back when I was in form 5 I was absolutely sure that she was the right girl for me.
So was it a rush job? Skipping all the necessary protocols and use the Fire for Effect method? Could be. The reason I was so keen on directly expression my love so direct and fast was that after that 6 months of gradually courting , with a sound plan in mind to ask her for certain things (can you believe that I wanted to ask her for her phone number very very late instead of earlier , some time away from the exam period?) , it all came to an abrupt end after the SPM exams. Without her phone number (thanks to me) I was unable to contact her again. That is why I wish for the day to see her again. I eventually did get her phone number, but by that time she already has started college and is very busy. Added to the fact that I still don't know if she loves me or not after I told her I love her, I really fumbled on that relationship.
So I guess I learned one valuable lesson. Never shock a girl by telling you are serious about her in such a short time. Taking an example from a computer game (I am a Mechwarrior nut so forgive me) , if you want to salvage a mech (get a girl) , do not use heavy weapons which might destroy the mech chassis and breach the reactor. However at the same time don't drag courting your girl for too long too, since you might lose her the same way.
Ok, that's all for now. End.
