I have just realized, that I have completely
neglected the first entries to this page, - which was about TRAVELING and
EXPLORING our wonderful Mother Earth!
Instead my interest to all things maritime
have slowly, slowly taken over, and instead of improving the old stuff,
I have filled up page after page with new and quality wise much better
stuff - - -
But now I HAVE to do something about the
old stuff - - - -
Basically it is good enough, but poor equipment
and my lack of skill with the scanning process and following picture treatment
on a computer was , - to put it mildly -, very limited - - -
The result was small, dull and muddy looking
images, although the original slides are excellent with brilliant sparkling
colours, - most of it on Kodachrome film -, which I believe is still the
best film you can get.
Therefore, - on this day -, I finally pulled
myself together, and for a change I did NOT add new maritime stuff, but
re-scanned a few old images on the entry page about exploring HONG
KONG - - - -
It was HORRIBLE, but now the pictures on
the opening page finally looks good, although there is a VERY long way
before I have corrected everything, - so please have patience with me -
- -
This is a real big job, - but great fun!

Some great news!
Finally I have changed my antique, old,
worn-out, defective and small 15" screen out with a new one with a 17"
screen!
What a difference!
The colours are no longer pale,- and suddenly
changing-, which made it virtually impossible to work on pictures!
How I managed to do it anyhow is one of
those mysteries that will never be solved. :-)
Well,- actually the pictures are very bad
indeed when compared to my original colour slides, with those crisp, brilliant
colours, but I guess that it is difficult to make it perfect with bad equipment
and lack of skills.
However,- with a new and bigger screen that
shows correct colours, and with improved PhotoShop skills, I should be
able to do much better in the future - - - -
The first result of working with my new,
better and bigger screen can be seen in the Korea section, which now have
re-scanned pictures from my Kayasan
adventure as well as some new pictures from the Haeinsa
Temple .
The pictures are much bigger
now, - and much better in spite of the fact that they are all uploaded
in low resolution.
So,- there really is hope
for the future - - -

CHOGYESAN
PROVINCIAL PARK and it's truly magnificent temple,- Songgwangsa.
A few of the pictures are from the old pages about the Songgwangsa temple,
but in new and highly improved quality. The old pages of poor quality
are now deleted.
Jan. 01. 2005:
Now I have completely reorganized the MAISAN
section, - strongly improving the earlier bad pictures -, and also I have
added many new pictures, as well as adding one extra page, and telling
a couple of stories - - - -
At the same time I regret
to say that I have deleted some pages about Korean temples, but I had to
do it, because I have ran out of memory, and since those temple pictures
were of very inferior quality, I decided that they had to go - - - -
At least for the time being.
Instead it is my plan to combine
the temple pictures with pictures of their often very scenic surroundings,
- just as I have just done with the above mentioned Maisan pages.
Dec. 30th. 2004:
Completely reorganized the KYERYONGSAN
section, with a second page and many new pictures.
Also I have decided to tell more stories
and give more insight into things. For people with no knowledge about the
various subjects I touch, this might be a great help in understanding,
and also it might help to stimulate the fantasy, which is actually what
it is all about - - - :-)
I will continue along these lines in the
future.

And of course I will continue to replace
the old and very bad pictures, and replace them with new scans of much
higher quality although all future pictures will be of low resolution.
But please be patient, - it will take
tons of time - - - -

Finally I have managed to add some new stuff
to "The Ships" section,- this time some pictures and a story from a fantastic
trip through the Magellan
Strait
Otherwise I have been quite busy continuing
the work of improving the general picture quality and putting frames around
them. Still there is a long way to go before I am finished, but it helps
a lot, although I realize, that many pictures are so bad that I cannot
do much improvement! They have to be deletet and scanned one more time,
and then I am sure that I will do well with my improved experience in working
with my PhotoShop program!
Nov. 08. 2004: Continued
to improve pictures on several pages. Also I put a frame around,
and use some new tricks in order to improve the picture quality.
Since the
beginning I have noticed that the perfect, crisp and sparkling colours
I
see on my slides did NOT copy well to the computer screen.
This is partly due to my lack of knowledge on "how to do",- and in addition
to
that, I also have screen problems.
My screen is small, very old and has certainly seen much better days and
obviously it cannot anymore reproduce the colours correct.
Furthermore,- my screen sometimes makes itself independent, and
may suddenly changes colours to a more bluish tone, but so far it always
comes back to "normal" again. (I hope!!!)
Therefore,- the colours might not appear good on your modern, fantastic
and perfect hi-tech screen.
But I will continue to use some time in order to improve on the picture
quality.
Have a look and see for yourself if I am doing well!
Almost all of the pictures I have improved so far also have a "frame"
around, and that small thing certainly has helped a lot.
A lot of pages actually looks quite good now! (At least on my screen!!!!)
:-)
But now I have used all my memory space, so something has to be deleted
in
order to get space for new stuff!
Latest disaster is, that now my scanner is also out of order!
Lets see what happens!

last couple of days to improve several pictures, at many
different pages. Looks very much better now, but have to do more.
Have also used the opportunity to make two new pages of the "race" around
island Fyn, which took place in July this year. Wonderful pictures!
Also added an extra picture in the series about China's Dong people.

Petersen. Also considerably improved on the old pictures by making

writing is not always properly aligned in the middle or where I want it!
