Good Joss! Sometimes it is OK with a little extra good luck. In order to get that , it was quite commom that sticks of burning incense were placed all over the ship. Also it was done after break-downs in the engine - - -

- Chan Lap Chung cooking in the engine control room.

With different groups of Chinese onboard,
it was unavoidable, that what was considered delicious for one group, was
not necesssarily so great for others - - -
In the engine room we always used only Cantonese
people, and they have their own favourites - just like the Swatow- and
the Foochow-sailors have theirs - - -
Therefore it sometimes happened that the
engine people, - the Cantonese -, made their own cooking on a hotplate
in the engine control room, and really enjoyed food like it should be to
their taste: Perfect!
In this series of pictures, it is Engine
Fitter Chan Lap Chung that took the responsibility for cooking genuine
Cantonese food, - and of course we were all invited to join in - - -
