Refining and Final Draft Activities
Once the initial rough draft has been written, it must be refined and edited.  Here are some suggested steps in doing so:

1.  Partner students off and have your students check each other's papers for grammar mistakes.  Pass out the
GRAMMAR handout to help guide your students in their editing.

2.  After
GRAMMAR errors are fixed, have students make sure that the draft is in FINAL DRAFT form.

3.  Do one last check using the
THINKING LIKE A WRITER guide.

4.  Have students write FINAL DRAFTS following
Final Draft Guidelines.    Use the BRAINSTORM and any rough drafts as references.
