Marking the Pieces
   In order to learn all of the elements of the "Power Paragraph", students must mark paragraphs a certain way.  By the students' markings, you will be able to assess their understanding of each element in the paragraph.
     The rules for marking are as follows:

1.  Box the
START WITH WORD.

2.  Circle the comma after the POWER INTRODUCTION and the 4 main transition words.

3.  Underline the POSITION.

4. Put and asterisk (*) where each example or explanation begins.

5.  Highlight the
POWER STATEMENT AND CONCLUSION with GREEN.

6.  Highlight the
TRANSITIONS with BLUE.

7.  Highlight the
DETAILS /REASONS/ FACTS/ with YELLOW.

8.  Highlight the
EXAMPLES & QUOTES with PINK.

Take notice, that the coloring corresponds to the poster you made in
