REGULATIONS FOR THE YEAR 2002-2005
FIELD
DIMENSIONS
1.The
field dimensions are 30 yards by 80 yards.
2.Orange
cones mark the end zones and are 10 yards deep.
3.The
first team to score to 100, 150 or 200 is the winner.
Points vary and is decided on before the game.
4.A
Touchdown is worth seven points, unless the offense
choices to go for two, then it is worth six points
depending on the two point conversion try.
5.
There are no referee's in MFL, all penalties are called
by the players themselves. If a decisive call can not be
made that down is replayed.
6.
Not all of the rules are on this page. However, if the
rule is not listed then they most likely are the same as
regular NFL football regulations.
OFFENSE
1.Each
team has 5 down a possession to score a touchdown.
2.
On the 5th down the team has a choice to either punt or
go for the touchdown.
3.After
scoring a touchdown the team has the option to take the
free point after the score or elect to go for the two
point conversion.
4.The
two point conversion line is 5 yards from the end zone.
5.Forward
laterals are illegal and is a loss of down for the
offense or on kickoffs spotted at the position of the
forward lateral.
6
The offensive team has seven seconds to get a pass off.
If they fail to do so the quarterback is sacked and the
play is dead. (see defense to see the ruling on the
count)
7.
Once within the 10 yard line. The offense has 5 seconds
to get a pass off. If they fall to do so the quarterback
is sacked and the play is dead.
8.
A receiver must have two feet in bounds in order for a
reception to be complete.
DEFENSE
1.On
defense the each team has two blitzs per possession
and are able to use them whenever they choice to run.
2.Also
there is a seven count for the offense to throw a pass,
if they fail to do so the play is stopped and is a loss
of down.
3.Each
defense has a free safety, which means there are no
quarterback sneaks unless a defensive player crosses the
line of scrimmage. If this happens then the quarterback
is free to run.
4.
When counting to 7 the defensive play must start
counting out loud at 5 seconds so the quarterback can
hear him. The defensive player continues to count to 7
from 5 out loud.
5.
When counting to 5, the defensive play must start
counting from 3 seconds up to 5 out loud.
6.
On a two-point conversion play, if the ball is
intercepted an returned to the endzone, that team is
awarded two points.
KICKOFF
1.The
kickoff must be punted from a designated spot before the
game.
2.
The kickoff must go past the second goal post on the
side of the field, if it fails to then it is re-kicked.
3.
Headhunters are not allowed to be past the line of
scrimmage until the ball is kicked.
4.
If the ball is kicked out of bounds the receiving team
has the option to take it where the ball went out of
bounds or have the ball re-kicked.
5.
Once the kicking team touches the ball, the ball is dead
and the offense starts at the spot the ball is touched
down.
7.
If the ball is kicked into the end zone and is not picked
up by the receiving team the ball is live. If the
kicking team recovers the ball in the endzone it is
awarded a touchdown for the kicking team.
