2006-07 MFL AWARD VOTING
As we start to get to crunch time in the MFL season,
many fans start zeroing in on the top players and top
performances of the 2006-07
season.
Being selected for a MFL Award is the top individual
honor that MFL players can earn. Winners of the Awards
are voted on by the players, and depending on the
individual, it is a very serious and well thought out
selection
process.

2006-07 season one of the most memorable in MFL history.

CLUB
MFL OPENED
Tuesday, November 21, 2000
Club
MFL has been created in a effort to create a place where
all MFL members can go to stay informed about future
games, both scheduled or tentative. Also at Club MFL,
you can post messages, photos, and chat with other MFL
members online, either in the voice chat room or by
using Yahoo! Messenger. All scheduled and tentative games
will be posted on the MFL calendar, weeks in advance, to
avoid the hassle of organizing MFL games hours before
kickoff. But to take advantage of all these features you
must have a Yahoo! account, which is free of charge. If
you don't have one, you can get one by Clicking
Here.
After setting up a Yahoo! account, stop by the Club MFL
page and become a member. To view the Club MFL page Click

MFL
WIDE RECEIVER MAKES COMMITMENT TO PITT
Tuesday,
August 03, 1999
If
statistics and postseason honors have anything to do with
it, the University of Pittsburgh snagged itself one fine
receiver when Don Patrick of Hazleton High School and the
McAdoo Football League (MFL) in northeastern Pennsylvania made
an oral commitment to the Panthers last week. Patrick,
a 6-foot-5, 195-pound senior, was first-team all-state as
a sophomore and junior. He was third in big school player
of the year voting last year. The lanky speedster is a
preseason first-team all-state selection, and a member of
some All-America teams. Patrick also was named the Rookie
of the Year (1997) and Best Receiver (1998), while playing
for the MFL. Patrick caught 152 passes for more than 2,900
yards and 21 touchdowns during his two seasons at Hazleton
and caught 77 passes for 1,350 yards and 9 touchdowns
during his senior year.
"He
has been considered one of the top two or three receivers
in the country. That's what I've been told by some
scouts," said Hazleton Coach John Yaccino, who used
to coach at Penn-Trafford High School. "He is very,
very highly touted." But
Pitt was the only school that offered a scholarship.
Yaccino said Florida State flew up to meet with him in
person, but the Seminoles' coaches wanted Patrick to wait
until further along in the recruiting process before
making a decision. Yaccino also said Boston College, North
Carolina and Michigan State were interested. "A lot
of the southern schools wanted him to wait," Yaccino
said.
Patrick,
who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, does not play
defense, and Yaccino expects him to make contributions to
Pitt's program early. "He has great receiving
ability," Yaccino said. "He is a great receiver.
I've had many great receivers over the years, especially
at Penn-Trafford, but he is by far the best. "He
knows how to get open. He can read defensive backs real
well. They think he is going to make an early contribution
to the program. The only thing he is lacking is strength
in the upper body. And he knows he has to work at
that."
