WEEK 7: Aug 5 - 9
Poet-in-Residence: JIM DANIELS
Workshop: Title: "Writing Lives, Writing Poems"
Description: Daniels' workshop will be designed to welcome all poets at all levels of writing. You are encouraged to send me one or two poems in advance or bring works-in-progress to the class. While discussing this work, we will also be creating new work based on writing assignments to challenge both beginning and advanced poets.
M-F 8:30-10:30 a.m., CLSC Alumni Hall
Prose Writer-in-Residence: KRISTIN KOVACIC
Workshop: Title: "Writing Home: The Geographical as Personal"
Description: Kovacic's workshop takes the position that no one is from nowhere, and that, with a writerly attention and a generous intention, wherever you are from can be a compelling place for prose. We will read personal essays and memoirs by writers who obsessively examine geographical places (whether those places were chosen by them or for them) for a deeper understanding of themselves and the world at large. We will each write an essay (or two!) about places that are important to us. Bring your notes and your memories.
M-F 1-3 p.m., CLSC Alumni Hall
